Game Room Updates

This is a small area of our game room which has always been the dumping ground for all unused or leftover furniture and decor. I've finally decided to revamp the space with a fresh color palette and vibe!

I restyled this console last week and added a new pair of mercury glass lamps which helps fill out the large wall. I also grabbed the frame and coral from my decor closet and the empty glass hurricane which is now filled with rocks, moss, and greenery! Check off this spot! One area complete!

Ok, so moving on! I currently have a black and white striped rug which I love, but it doesn't work with the direction I'm headed.

I'm switching to blues and yellows so I ordered this new aqua rug today!

I love a good herringbone pattern! Plus, you can't beat the Memorial Day sales going on right now!

This fabric is being used for 2 throw pillows on the sofa. I'll use my current yellow trellis pillow then add another new print!

Would love to replace the 2 gray Ikea tables with this hefty piece! The gray tables were a quick fix and have worked up until now, but I'm kind of concerned with the extra sharp edges on them and the kiddos playing upstairs! Hopefully Home Decorators will have a sale here soon and I can order this piece!

Last, I need to decide on a fabric for new drapery. Currently I have cream Duipioni Silk drapes from Pottery Barn that work, but are boring! Stay tuned and see what I pick. I'm thinking navy!

A Clarice Find

I was browsing through the isles at Home Goods when this stool covered in one of my favorite fabrics landed in my basket. I have been eyeing Clarice Dove fabric for drapes in my dining room, but just haven't taken the plunge since I have perfectly good drapes in there already. This stool will suffice and adds just the perfect touch of pattern for now!

I love all the detailing. The button tufting, cording, and nailhead trim make it look custom. The best part though is that it only cost me $40!! Score!

Are you familiar with Clarice Dove fabric? Have you used it anywhere in your home?

I think it's stunning!

My Skirted Table

After seeing skirted tables around Pinterest and Blogland I finally have my own version. Remember how it dawned on me that my parent's had a table base in their garage? Well, I dug it out, dusted off the cob webs (literally) and hauled her home. I'm so glad I did! Here's how the new corner in my living room looks after I passed off the fabric to my seamstress!

The photograph is one of my favorites of my Grandma who just recently passed away and my Grandpa. It was taken at my cousin's wedding when Nannie was glowing with happiness.
The broaches are from my late Nana. She passed them on to me and I love how displaying them not only reminds me of her, but it brings out the beauty in the pieces.

The neutral fabric was decided upon since there are so many other patterns and colors occurring in my space. I wanted a classic look that wasn't overpowering. This corner makes me so happy now! Sometimes I just stand there and stare at my new table. Yep, I'm kind of crazy like that.

Oh, do you see a sneak peek of my new Chloe sofa too? Come back tomorrow to see the rest of the living room complete with new furniture!

Skirted Tables

What's your take on skirted tables? Are they your style?

Via

I actually once thought they were stuffy and too formal for my taste. With the right fabric though, the tailored look has for sure grown on me. After seeing a slew of tables done right, I got the itch to add one to my living room. Then, I remembered my parents had one in their garage from when they moved. I dug it out, and found new fabric to my liking. Now, I'm just waiting for my seamstress to make the skirt because this girl doesn't sew. So excited to see the final product and of course I wanted it yesterday!

Currently Coveting...

VELVET!

As I scour pinterest, design publications, and other blogs, I can't help but notice all the velvet furniture pieces I'm seing these days. I'm becoming very envious of them and wondering where such a piece could play a role in my own home. Maybe my living room?

We have tossed around the idea of new living room furniture since ours are caving in. Maybe it's from hubby occupyng them so often, or maybe from my precious Lily dog laying there all day every day! Whatever the reason, we will be investing in quality pieces this go round and the dog will get a furniture eviction notice!

I'm keeping my eyes peeled for velvet sofas and chairs. It's always a possibility. Maybe I need 2 velvet chairs to replace the now sunken in loveseat. Loveseats are pointless anyways. I mean, it's not like you have company over and 2 people try to squeeze on a loveseat. Awkward! I'll get much more use out of 2 chairs, plus the velvet will be nice and soft for everyone's tush!

Here's some velvet pieces I'm adoring.

This is one of my all time favorite office spaces! Love the yellow velvet chair!

An unexpected touch in a kitchen.

Or on a headboard..

Velvet, it's not just for your grandmas's sofa! Although, I would happily take my grandma's velvet sofa.

Fabric Love

Over the holidays I made a visit to one of my favorite local fabric stores to pick up some samples. Here's some of the fabulousness that I spotted.

I can't wait to use some of these for upcoming projects!

Caitlin Wilson Textiles

Have you been counting down the launch of Caitlin Wilson Textiles like I have? Well, the much anticipated launch was on Monday and they are a hit in my eyes. I'm sure you will think so as well when you check them out. She has great patterns and color ways to choose from. Plus, it's reasonably priced.

And if you like a fabric, but don't sew like me, then you can purchase pillow covers directly from her.

I'm eyeing this Mustard Fleur Chinoise and think it might be just what my bathroom window needs.

Fabric Love

I have been drooling over these fabrics. I'm loving the bold patterns and brightness of the colors. Being the etsy stalker that I am, I have found these prints in pillow covers ready to order and ship to mi casa. Don't you think they would totally brighten up my living room?

Currently, the pillows on the sofas have color, but they are kind of drab and were a temporary fix until I found what I really wanted. Voila'! Here they are. Now I need to narrow down which ones to purchase. I love them all, but don't need that many. I'm for sure purchasing the top large floral print and will choose others to coordinate.

If you are wondering about the fabric sources, I'm not divulging the info. Sorry! I'm sure if you searched etsy though you would find them eventually. I need to ensure these babies end up safely in my shopping cart. :) I know you will probably love them as much as I do and want to swipe them up too!

I'm crushing on this picture as inspiration.

Here go the tough decisions again... which fabrics would you choose?

*Remember if you need help sprucing up a room of your own, I'm available for e-design services. I can create an online design board complete with sources and detailed instructions. Go here for more details.

Office Fabric

Do you have a space in your home that is just horrific? For me, it is my husband's office. What drives me nuts is that it is the first room you see when you walk in our front door. This space is lacking personality and color. What it's not lacking is junk, trash, papers on the floor, cords, and more junk. If it were completely up to me the space would have been redesigned about  9 months ago, but it's not all up to me. My husband says that it's the only space (besides the garage) that is his space. Geez, doesn't he remember that he has his own closet?! The point being that he's extremely picky and doesn't want me turning it into a feminine space.

The space is at least painted which is a soft creamy yellow. And the curtain rod has been hanging empty for about 6 months. I also recently purchased a sisal rug for under hubby's desk to replace the dingy rug that's there now.

My first goal is to put the new rug down, then purchase fabric to make curtains because the room is very tall and still echoes somewhat. Since hubby works in there and talks to clients often, then he can't have any echoing and must have cute, colorful curtains to absorb the sound.

Uno problemo is that I can not decide on a fabric to save my life because I like them all! That's where you come in to help me. I want your opinions on which one you like best for 2- 120 length panels. That's a lot of fabric! Here they are:

Choice Number 1
Choice Number 2
Choice Number 3

Choice Number 4 (It's navy, not black)
Option Number 5

Thoughts/opinions please. Do you have another one in mind keeping in the same color palette? I really appreciate your comments so I can get on to ordering it already.
