To Boldly Go...

...where.. okay, where quite a few people have gone before... but still an exciting time.. ;)

The new challenge at One Stitch at a Time is Back to School... quite an appropriate theme given that kids in the UK will be starting back at school in a couple of weeks (or have already gone back in parts of Scotland)... and amongst them will be my DD1 who starts full-time school for the first time! Scary, but exciting, times. :)

For my card, I used the Starship stamp and paper pack by Coosty Creations:

I must admit to being a wee bit of a trekkie (I even used to have a DS9 uniform top!) so I loved working with this collection. I decided to make an easel card, the better to showcase these awesome papers.

I coloured the starship image using my Promarkers and keeping the colour scheme pretty simple... after all, Star Trek starships are pretty much all white, aren't they? :)

I printed the papers and trimmed them to fit my easel card and printed a sentiment, cut it out and attached it with foam tape. I cut out the starship and attached it using foam pads for a touch of dimension.

You don't have to use a Stitchy Bear product to enter the challenge but we'd love it if you do - and doing so will put you in the draw to win our main prize. As ever, entries not using a Stitchy Bear product will have a chance to win a $3 gift voucher to the Stitchy Bear Digi Outlet.

Tear it to pieces...

Time for a new challenge at Sweet Pea Stampers and the theme is "tear it to pieces"... in other words, show some torn edges on your creation.

I used Joanne Schempp's Ice Ice Baby digi stamp and coloured her with my Promarkers in pale, wintery shades:

I added touches of glitter to the moon and stars with Stickles and also added a few tiny star-shaped crystal gems:

I used pretty papers in shades of pink and blue and tore and curled the edges. I added a pretty layered flower and a decorative pin...

...and some gemstones:

The challenge runs for 2 weeks and you don't need to use a Sweet Pea Stamps image to enter, though of course we'd love it if you do.

Gypsies, Tramps and Thieves

As soon as I saw the theme for this week's "Name That Tune" challenge at Passion for Promarkers, I knew exactly what song I was going to use for my inspiration. As it happened, I had already printed out Saturated Canary's gorgeous Zorana digi stamp, ready for colouring, and of course this song sprang immediately to mind:

And this was the card I made:

I coloured the image with my Promarkers and added a couple of highlights here and there with a white gel pen:

I used some pretty freebie papers in pastel colours and some co-ordinating pearlised cardstock for matting. I used a pretty EK Success border punch and added some ribbon and a bunch of pretty flowers:

I used Stampin' Up! butterfly punches to punch some butterflies from more of the pearlised card and added them to the card with some gemstone accents:

A pretty card inspired by an awesome song. :)

Use a Digi

Time for another favourite challenge at One Stitch at a Time - Use a Digi. So easy to enter - just use a digital product (be it a stamp, digi papers, a digi embellishment you've printed and cut out, a sentiment you've created and printed with your computer... you get the gist!) somewhere on your creation. :)

This week I've worked with Beary Dust Stamps' adorable Alice digi stamp:

I coloured her with my Promarkers and cut her out:

I then made a tentfold card blank and prettied it up with a Martha Stewart Punch Around the Page border punch around the edges:

I added some pretty floral paper, a die-cut flourish in the corner and, the crowning glory, a bunch of pretty flowers hand-made by myself using a rather awesome new Sizzix Thinlits die set from the Susan's Garden range:

Am really rather pleased with these flowers and think they work perfectly on this card. :) I attached the Alice image using foam pads and, in my head, this is Alice after she's shrunk, surrounded by giant flowers in the garden! The hookah-smoking caterpillar is lurking just out of view, I'm sure... :D

The challenge runs for a week and you don't have to use a Stitchy Bear product to win, but if you do you'll be in with a chance of winning our main prize. Entries not using a Stitchy Bear product will be entered into a draw to win a $3 gift voucher to the Stitchy Bear Digi Outlet.

Anything Goes

After last week's "Make It Stitchy" challenge, where we challenged you to use a Stitchy Bear product on your creation, this week at One Stitch at a Time we're back with a vengeance with a perennial favourite challenge theme - Anything Goes.

It does exactly what it says on the tin - you can enter any project, using any products you like. Of course, only entries using a Stitchy Bear product will be eligible to win our main prize but entries without a Stitchy Bear product can still win, with a $3 gift voucher to the Stitchy Bear Digi Outlet up for grabs.

For my card this week, I worked with this fabulous, rather steampunky Leather and Lace image by Delicious Doodles:

I loove steampunk stuff so I coloured the image with my Promarkers in traditional/vintagey colours of brown with rich reds and greens:

I kept with the rich vintage theme for the rest of my card, using a kraft card blank and making my own background by stamping kraft cardstock with a fabulous brocade pattern and embossing it with rich gold embossing powder:

I added a length of brown lace underneath the embossed panel and matted the image onto more kraft cardstock before attaching, adding some little metal accents in the corners. And the finished I then got out my hot glue gun and made a fabulous, vintagey flower embellisment by layering more of the brown lace (cut into sections and ruffled), a paper blossom and a gorgeous metal flower:

Loving the Alien

Am I showing my age by referencing a David Bowie song? ;)

Anyhoo... I made another quick card tonight (I get very little crafting done when hubby is home so now he's headed back down to London I've dived straight back in my craft room! :D) using another of my new digi stamps which I coloured up this week.

This time I used Alien Amour. This dapper little alien gent is coloured with my Promakers with a couple of highlights added using a white gel pen:

I decided to keep the card really clean and simple, adding a piece of fabulous glittery holographic cardstock that looks like a starry night sky, and attaching my little alien friend with foam pads. I finished things off with a sentiment stamped with Stampin' Up! alpha stamps:

Geisha Girl

I printed out some of my new digi stamps this week and had a play at colouring them in...  and I liked the way my Geisha Girl image looked, all coloured-in using my Promarkers, so much that I decided to make a card with it:

I went with a black and red colour scheme, to match the colouring on the image, and used some red cardstock and some pretty dotted paper by First Edition:

I punched a border strip from red card and added a doily in the centre of the card and then cut a delicate frame from more of the red card and layered it over the doily:

I fussy cut out my coloured image and attached it with foam pads over the filigree frame and finished things off with some beaded stems and pretty flowers:

Challenge time

Sunday means a new challenge at One Stitch At A Time and this week it's one of our most popular themes - Use a Digi. So easy to enter and play along - just use a digi element (stamp, paper, whatever) in your creation. :)

This week I am using this sweet yet sassy I'm Know Im Cute image by Reece's Scrap Pieces:

I coloured her with my Promarkers and cut her out and then I was (again! :D) inspired by this week's doodling challenge at Passion for Promarkers.

So I decided to doodle a background scene for her. I went with a city street scene:

I drew it with a fineliner pen straight onto a plain white card blank. To add a bit of interest to the background, and link it with the image, I included a few little butterflies and coloured them pink to match her clothing:

When I was happy with the background, I attached my cut-out image using foam pads to make her pop from the background a bit. :)

You don't have to use a Stitchy Bear product to enter the challenge but if you do you'll be in with a chance of winning our main prize for the week. Entries not using a Stitchy Bear product will be entered into the draw to win a $3 gift voucher for the Stitchy Bear Digi Outlet. :)

In the Moodle for a Doodle

I was really quite taken with this week's "doodlelicious" challenge theme at Passion for Promarkers. I do like to doodle and draw, and doodling on a card can look fabulous.

I decided to combine the doodling challenge with the new "Anything Goes" challenge at A Day for Daisies and used this stunning ADFD digi stamp:

I coloured the image with my Promarkers and fussy cut around it:

I then cut a piece of white card slightly smaller than my card blank and used fineliner pens to outline sections and then filled them in with flowery doodles:

I attached my doodled background to the card blank using foam tape, for a bit of added dimension...

...and then attached my cut-out image using foam pads to make it stand out that bit more from the background:

I'm really pleased with this. I think the doodled black and white background works really well with the colourful splash of the striking image. Am definitely going to be doing more doodled cards. :)

WOYWW 199

Am pleased to report that, so far, the tidyness of the desk has - mostly - continued. :)

(Admittedly, I did have a wee quick tidy around before taking this photo!)

The tray in front of the Cameo has gained quite a bit more content though, though a large part of it is my stack of printed-out digi stamps awaiting my colouring pleasure and also some paper remnants awaiting putting away properly.

The main crafting area of the desk contains the results of a quick bit of Tuesday night crafting:

There's a digi stamp (one of my own designs! :D) awaiting colouring, a sheet of gemstone stickers and an embossed piece of card that was a possible alternative background for the completed card.

I made this card for the "White Embossed Background" challenge at A Day For Daisies. I've done a couple of white on white/primarily white cards lately using embossing for detail and texture and it's such a lovely effect so I couldn't resist entering this challenge.

I actually coloured this gorgeous A Day For Daisies image (I just looove her hair and her big eyes and long neck!) a couple of months ago and it's been sitting around on my desk every since awaiting the right card project. And this is it. :) I cut a tentfold card blank and used a Tim Holtz embossing folder. I added ribbon and gemstones and fussy cut out the image and attached it with foam pads, letting it slightly overhang the edge of the card.

That's it for me this week. Check out Julia's Stamping Ground blog for the full list of WOYWW desks to visit. :)

Butterfly... flutter by...

Butterflies!

That's the theme of this week's challenge at Passion for Promarkers and naturally I just couldn't resist cos I looooove em! Butterflies are one papercrafting motif that I will never tire of - I'd put em on everything given half a chance! :D

This challenge was also the perfect opportunity for me to try out one of my brand new digi stamp designs - Butterfly Profile - which has just been added to the (newly revamped!) Stitchy Bear Digi Outlet store:

I coloured the image with my Promarkers:

I wanted my card to have intense, vibrant colours to match with this image so I took the plunge and finally made myself use some of the gorgeous Bo Bunny Ambrosia collection which I've been hoarding avariciously for probably at least a year (filed under "Too Pretty To Use")! :D

I looooove these papers and matching embellies!

I matted the paper and my coloured image onto deep turqouise cardstock and added a pretty cluster of flowers, with a button centre, and a sentiment (stamped and die-cut with my Itty Bitty Banners set from Stampin' Up! - love this versatile set for making instant sentiment banners!):

I added a few more flowers:

And then pretty much went kerrr-aaazy with the butterflies! :D

I used my Beautiful Wings embosslit die from Stampin' Up! and cut butterflies from three different colours of card. I use this die sooo much and it's perfect for dinky little butterflies to scatter across a creation. :)

I finished things off with a few gemstones.

And that's my butterfly-themed card. D'you think it's got enough butterflies to qualify for the theme? Be honest now? ;D
