New Baby

Is there any better reason for a card? :)

One of my friends had her third baby last week - a very unexpected baby girl! After having had two boys, they were convinced that number 3 would be a boy too (I think the odds are something like 94% of having a third boy if you've already had two boys?) so they were very pleasantly surprised when she turned out to be a girl. The only problem is, they still haven't chosen a name yet (she was born a week ago today) as they hadn't really even considered girls' names!

Last week was half term and I didn't want to intrude on family time with the new baby so the school run this morning was the first time I got to see my friend since the birth, and to meet the new addition (she's absolutely dainty and gorgeous!). :)

And of course, I had to take her a little gift and a card:

One of my absolute favourite stamps for baby cards - and especially girl baby cards - is this adorable acrylic stamp by Mo Manning. I stamped it with Memento ink and coloured it with my Promarkers and made a fairly quick and simple card with some patterned paper, embossed card, ribbon and a doily.

I stamped the sentiment with a Stampin' Up! stamp and cut it out with one of my favourite dies - the Bitty Banners Framelits set from Stampin' Up! :)

Get In Shape

Can I just say, how freaking awesome is my Cameo? :D

I must admit, I haven't used it a huge amount since my lovely hubby bought it for me in November - I am still getting the hang of how to do various things with it (and I must admit to not spending as much time in the craft room as usual over the winter months!).

But it really is the coolest, cleverest darn thing and I really must use it more. Cos look what I did with it over the weekend:

I made my own shaped card base!! How awesome is that?! :D

The challenge at Passion for Promarkers this week is to make a circle card and I really wanted to have a go... but I don't have any circle card blanks and I don't have any dies big enough to cut a card blank in the BigShot so I decided to have a play with my Cameo. And by overlapping two scalloped circle shapes and welding them I was able to cut out a shaped card base. Am so impressed with myself!

I decorated my card with some gorgeous freebie papers that came with a craft magazine and added a butterfly and flourish (also cut with the Cameo) and some flowers - including a resin flower from a matching set that came with the pretty papers:

And for the image I used this adorable Alisa With Roses digi stamp from Mo's Digital Pencil. Isn't she so sweet?

I'm also entering this card into the following challenges:
Addicted to Stamps - Bring on Spring (lots of flowers)
Great Impressions - Going Green
Hobby Cutz - Anything Goes
No Matter Which Challenges - Anything Goes
Scrappy Frogs - Green
Sunday Stamper - Something Pretty

Crafting again

Hurrah! The drought is over! I managed to get back in my craft room last night and make something, after nearly two weeks of no crafting (how did I survive?!)!

My friend Sally had a baby boy last Friday so I wanted to drop off a card for her (we'll go visit once she's gotten settled - I know how chaotic those first few days can be, especially when you've got a toddler as well as a newborn!):

The stamp is a Mo Manning design from Stampendous (doesn't she draw the most adorable babies? :)) and I've coloured it with my Promarkers and cut and embossed it with a Nesties die. The papers and buttons are all remnants from the June mini kit from Creative Craft World - I've already made a mini scrapbook page and two cards with this kit and still had enough left to make this card and can probably squeeze another one or two out of what remains! :D

I also used one of my new Memory Box dies and added some plain white baker's twine from Stampin' Up!. The scalloped border punch is also from Stampin' Up! :)

Am going to pop this through Sally's letter box on the way home from DD1's Rhythm Time class today. Hope she likes it.
