i just wanted to say how truly bitter sweet these past two days have been for me. i was very shocked when i first heard the news, not that it wasn't expected-he's been hinting it for awhile now, its just that i cant imagine someone else in his place. i was about 9 when President Hinckley was first called so i don't really remember any other Prophet. he was such an amazing man and such an inspiration to me. he is the prime example to everyone, lds or not, of how to live a full and happy life. from his dedication and humor, to the love he had for everyone-especially his family and wife...he truly has inspired us all. i, along with the rest of the world im sure, feel like i knew him personally. his love and spirit would gleam constantly and it could always be felt. i am going to miss him so much-his smile, his sweet personality, his cane, his wit and most importantly the love he had for the church and for the world. although he will be missed, i am so happy that he is with his sweetheart once again.

little katie
so....my cutest little sister katie has been a member of her high school student government for the last two years and has loved it. next year will be her senior year and she wants to run for student body secretary. she really wants to be a student body officer, or SBO, as opposed to a class officer. so this is where all of you come in.
she is in desperate need for a great campaign slogan. she begins her campaigning in march and wants to start getting prepared.
her sophomore year campaign was, "Will work for Senate," and she put up posters made out of a cardboard box with pictures of her looking homeless...it was way funny and original. for her junior year she did something with ipods and her posters looked like nanos. that was clever too.
SO...what should be her campaign slogan this year? she needs to do posters and a skit to run for SBO. if ANY of you have ANY ideas at all PLEASE let me know!

Here it goes.
Jess tagged me about love and life...
About LOVE:
Where did you meet your husband?
Well we first met at a U of U party, but we barely talked. We saw eachother again at a mutual friend's BBQ a few weeks later. He was with his group of friends and I was with mine. His friend came up to us wanting to hang out sometime so I gave him my number. His friend called me a few days later but me, being the flake that I am, didnt answer or call him back.
A day or two later Alan (my husband) called me. I didnt answer (because I hate answering numbers I dont know) but I listened to his message and I remembered that I thought he was cute so I called him back. He wanted our friends to go to a concert with his friends that night but we already had plans so we didnt go.
I was working at Simmons Media at the time with one of my best friends and we always got free tickets to things. The next morning Alan happened to text me saying that I missed out on a great concert the night before and we texted back and forth throughout the day. My friend and I had a ton of extra tickets to a show that night at Clark Planitarium and we decided to go. She asked a guy that she was hanging out with (aka Todd) and I had no one to ask. In the meantime Alan and I were still texting about random things.
Not even knowing him, but still having no one to ask, I decided to ask him out on our first date! We went to CPK, the show at Clark Planitarium, and then back to parents and jumped on the tramp with Bitty and Todd. We had an instant connection and it really was the funnest and best date ever.
What happened next?
For those of you who know me well know that back then I was quite the "player" and very good at lying to all of them! During the month that I met Alan I wasnt dating anyone else because I had just broken up with my boyfriend. So for about a month things were great with Al and I. A few weeks later the old boyfriend came back into my life and there was a little drama for a few months because of it, on top of that I had a missionary! Not fun! But then I decided that I needed to grow up and be mature about things. Al and I started dating exclusively and things were great from there on out.
All in all we met in June 2005, got serious in September, I started planning the wedding in January, officailly engaged with the ring on April 2 and married June 27, 2006.
Where were you married?
We got married in the Salt Lake Temple, our reception was at Thanksgiving Point and we went to Cabo for our honeymoon.
What are 3 things you love about your spouse?
1. Al really is the funniest person I know. He has such a unique personality and does the funniest things. He always knows how to make me laugh and cheer me up.
2. How hardworking he is. He is so driven and determined in all that he does. He forbids to give up and will not let anything get in his way. He thinks outside the box and figures out how to do everything and anything.
3. That he doesnt care what people think. He could care less about how people view him and I love that. He is such an example to me in that area.
What are three things about your spouse we would be surprised to find out?
1. How funny he really is. Besides his close family and friends, everyone else would be suprised to see the true Al...he is so weird! (in a good way!)
2. He loves Simpsons. He owns about 10 of the seasons so far and watches them every night.
3. The only way he can fall asleep is if he watches a movie while going to bed. If we sleep somewhere and there is not a tv to watch a movie, he literally wont sleep.
What is your favorite thing to do together?
Talk and relax
About LIFE:
If you could sum up your personality in 3 words they would be?
1. Caring
2. Shy
3. Clean
What makes you happy?
Being with my friends and family
3 things you would bring to a deserted island (besides the necessities)?
1. Alan
2. Laptop
3. Ipod
What are you good at?
Well I dont really have a talent or anything like that, but I am working on my cooking skills. And Im a good cleaner and organizer.
If you had to eat 3 things for the rest of your life?
Starlight Mint ice cream, avacados, sushi
What are 3 things you can't stand?
1. Rude drivers
2. People who think they're better than you or who are competitive
3. When my house is a mess
Where do you want to be in 10 yrs?
Happy
Brina tagged me about what Alan and I like to do together.
1. Watch our shows. We love Heroes and 24 especially.
2. Talk about our future. We are so exciting to see where our life is going to lead us. It is so fun for both of us to talk about having kids, moving to our next house and growing up together!
3. Going to a good restraunt. We both love good food and love going out to eat. It is so fun to treat ourselves to a nice dinner sometimes.
4. Travel. We love to go to my grandma's condos in Jackson Hole and San Clemente, CA as often as we can. We loved our honeymoon and we have a few trips we're planning for this year. We both want to go back to where he served his mission in Guatemala and cant wait to do that.
Ashlee's tag...Six Things You Might Not Know About Me
1. I love to sleep. Like I said in an earlier post, its one of my 2008 resolutions to not sleep so much. I get tired by 10pm and I can sleep until 9 the next morning. I can fall asleep any where, any time, any place no matter what! I can always tell when Im tired because my foot hurts, weird I know but its true!
2. I love music. Back in the day I would burn a few cd mixes a day, but now I think that the Ipod is the greatest invention in the world. Ive been depressed ever since mine broke a few months ago! Thanks to my parents I now have the custest little nano that I love!
3. I love to dilly-dally! Honestly, I could take an entire day doing one thing! If I have time, I do everything so slow. It takes me forever to get ready, to get out of the car, to run errands. I always get side-tracked by random things. I guess I live in LaLa Land or something!
4. I think Tivo is the greatest invention next to the Ipod. How bad is it that since Ive had it, I dont know what I'd do without it?
5. I love to watch movie previews! I really think its the best part of going to a movie. Alan always makes fun of me for it! Most people dont mind being late to a movie..."We'll just miss the previews."...Not the case with me, Im mad if we're late because then I cant see them.
6. I have webbed toes. Most people probably do know this about me but its something kinda weird. My second and third toes on both feet are stuck together!
The End!
Tag your it, you can answer any or all of the tags ...Abby, Jen, Caroline, Pris, Mal, Annie Crockett, and anyone else who is bored.

not going so well
i guess you could say that im so not motivated in this area. is the eating healthy thing going good? of course not, especially when i eat almost an entire chocolate orange and a bunch of m & m's for lunch. on top of that i work from home in my bed. can anyway say lazy?
so yesterday i was watching good things utah and they talked about THIS awesome website. its a free website where you put in your weight, age, height and what goals you want to accomplish (lose weight or maintain a healthy lifestyle). you can then print meal plans and specific exercises to help you accomplish your goal.
i just signed up and am ready to get healthy. starting tomorrow of course!
new years resolutions...?
however, while blog-hopping one day i came across a blog that totally inspired me to make a list of start's and stop's for 2008. instead of calling these goals they will be more like guidelines for 2008, that way i dont feel forced to accomplish them! so here i go...
-start eating healthy
-start to read at least one book a month
-stop going to bed at ten and waking up at eight, 10 hours of sleep a night is not healthy.
-work-out 4x a week
-continue to work on my cooking skills and maybe even take cooking classes
-learn to sew
-stop watching so much tv
-learn to play tennis and golf
so there you go, now everyone out there can hold me to my 2008 guidelines. wish me luck and good luck with your goals for the new year. happy 2008!

new years eve
i have always been one to think that new years eve is so overrated...but this year it was actually fun! our night started off eating chinese at my parents with my family. then, danielle and ty hosted a great party at their house with all of our friends. our night was filled with mexican haystacks, lots of cookies, watching ty on the news at "first night" downtown, playing catch-phrase and guitar hero, and watching the ball drop at midnight. it was a good way to bring in the new year. thanks friends! Happy 2008!
