Adventures in Vegas

This week was packed with exciting adventures. On Tuesday we went to a haunted house on the Brooklyn Bridge at the NY NY hotel. I was like oh my gosh its going to be so cool. The picture below is before we went in with some weird girl with hair in her face. I think she was supposed to be the girl from The Ring. She had a weird obsession with Albert.

The haunted house cost $20 and lasts about 5 minutes. Nothing compared to the ones back home in SLC or San Antonio for Al. Afterwards on the walk back to our car through the casino I became amused with the gigantic slot machine. One of these days I will win!!

The most exciting day for Albert was Wednesday. DRUM ROLL....We finally have a tv for him to watch Texas Tech "Wreck m Tech" This isnt just any tv, it's a 50 inch plasma that is bigger then where we live. Here is a picture of the gigantic box. Its amazing!! I havent really seen much of Al since this tv came into our lives, but Im guessing he is doing well.
He had to buy more gum to supply the offices he visits. I was fortunate enough to help him unwrap and put stickers on 100 packages of Orbit gum. I hope these people know how much work goes into every box he hands out because I was in Orbit after we did this.On Thursday night we went to see Carrot Top at the Luxor. He is hilarious!! Definately one to go see, but make sure you wear a fur coat because they keep the room at about 30 degrees.

Our next highlight was Saturday when we got to register our cars. You dont have to pass safety here, so I thought we were getting away price wise until we showed up at the DMV. We arrived thinking we could eat steak and shrimp for Sunday dinner and left $500 poorer buying Top Ramen at Wal Mart. If you move to Vegas stay a resident wherever you live because they rob you to get their ugly Nevada license plate.

Here are some pictures from the strip. Dont take brochures from the nice people in the orange t shirts that have lots of 6's and 9's on their backs. Also beware of the driving billboards. It could be an advertisement for either a good or naughty show.

Saturday was also a day for grocery shopping. We like Wal Mart because you can find anything in the universe there and Im not talking about people. Albert loves to grocery shop and push the cart.

However we dont like to pay for them. We always have bets on how much it will cost. My bet was 75 and his was 130. Whoever is the closest wins and doesn't have to pay for the groceries. I WON, but then we went back 2 hours later and got $20 worth of things we forgot. I have to get better at making grocery lists.

That concludes this week. I hope next week is just as exciting. After all it is Halloween on Friday!! Here are some pictures of our condo. We are still working on decorating.

Hoover Dam

We took a Sunday drive to the famous Hoover Dam. We didnt know you had to sit in dam traffice for an hour, but it was totally worth it. I went a few years ago, so I was Als Dam tour guide. I told him not to ask me any dam questions while I took dam pictures and then he threatened to take away my dam camera. Who does that?? He knew that I wouldnt be dam happy so he let me go on my way.

We decided we were going to find a way to the door that comes out of the bottom of the dam, just like in the Chevy Chase movie. I will post pictures when we do. After about 30 minutes at the Dam we were so dam thirsty and were so lucky because they had a dam drinking fountain.

Best DAM water we've ever had!! Ok enough of the dam jokes. It was a fun outing and if you come to visit we might just take you to the dam:)

LAS VEGAS BABY

We moved to Las Vegas!! Al took a job with Orbit Medical selling Medical Equipment. I have a lifetime supply of Orbit gum and no matter how much I chew there is always more. Definately a perk of the job. We packed up the UHAUL and headed on down. I didnt realize how much stuff I had until the boxes kept being stacked. I was a little nervous when I helped Al drive the Acura onto the trailer. I was guiding him and when he was trying to drive over the part where your front tires go he gunned it and I thought he was going to fly into the back of the UHAUL. Luckily with his skills it worked and I still have a car to drive. Phew
Unpacking was another adventure. It was interesting trying to combine our random collection of baseball trophies and barbies, but with all the plastic bins we have they fit just fine and Im sure we will discover them again in years to come.

Vegas is an interesting city. Everytime I have been in Las Vegas I stayed on the strip, but there is just as much exciting stuff going on off the strip. The first picture is a guy I ran into at the bank and the second is just one of many random signs you will see.

We have been in heaven with new restaurants. Everywhere you look there is something new to try. Of course I look for the sushi restaurants first and I found this one by our house that said happy hour everyday from 5-7 and I was like sweet half price sushi. When we got there Al asked is it still happy hour and the host said yes would you like a drink menu? Only a Utah native would think happy hour is half priced sushi because thats what they call it in the SLC . We didnt get cheap sushi that night, but I learned there is life outside the Utah bubble

There are tons of shows in Las Vegas and we got to see Blue Man Group last week which is really bizarre. I honestly dont really know how to explain it without saying random, weird, and they actually get paid to do that?? We were lucky enought to get a picture after the show with them. They make you feel totally uncomfortable because they dont say anything and just stare at you

Last but not least Vegas night life. We have only been to the strip a couple times since we've lived here, but as you know Vegas is best known for its night life. Als friends from Texas were here last weekend and we got to hang out at the Voo Doo Lounge one night which is outside on the 50th floor of the Rio. Here are some pictures.

Honeymoon

We went to the Bahamas for our honeymoon. We had to catch an early flight the next morning. If your not married yet waking up at 5am the day after you get married is something you should definately do.
We stayed at a nice Wyndham resort or at least we thought it was nice until we drove over on our scooter(I will talk about that later) to the Atlantis which everyone should stay at if your going to the Bahamas. They charge $100 per person to use their beaches, water slides, pools, and the lazy river which is amazing. Definately better than Seven Peaks or Raging Waters.

The highlight of the trip was renting a scooter across from our hotel. I havent rode one since my accident in Grand Cayman and here is a picture of the injuries I sustained...I made Al promise me that I wouldn't have to drive. The scooter was beautiful. We actually had 2 different ones. Our first one worked for about a day. The blinkers or brake lights didnt work, our muffler had a hole in it, and we were missing a mirror...lol The second day it wouldnt start, so we exchanged it for a different one that pulled to the right, didnt have headlights, was missing the opposite mirror, and didnt need the key in the ignition to start. The best was when we were driving over the big hill to Paradise Island. All the cars and trucks were passing to us and I said to Al I feel like were in Dumb and Dumber. It was pretty funny.

Here is some pictures of our Bohemian scooter

One day I buried Al in the sand one day and I pretended like I was on Americas Next Top Model. For those of you that watch that show will appreciate the picture below.

The bohemians are cool people. They are obsessed with conch. Conch meat, conch shells, conch lights. We tried it the first night we were there, but I didnt get it fried. Afterwards I kept thinking if I try it fried then maybe I will like it The last day we were there I got fried conch and I still felt the same. Ya Man it was great!!

We're Married!!

For those of you most likely reading this blog know were married and the knot is tied. All the countless hours of searching for lime green, black and , ivory EVERYTHING is finally done. I still catch myself when were shopping and say to Al "oh look there is a lime green picture frame and candle." There were a few random things that happened the wedding day like our photographer was missing when we were about to walk out of the temple and our string quartet at the reception turned into a trio because the cello players water broke halfway into it. Im not really sure why they sent someone who was 9 months and 3 days pregnant, but hopefully she made it to the hosptial ok. Other than that the wedding was beautiful and life has been great ever since. Thank you so much to everyone for all your help!! If you ever come to Vegas I will let you watch our wedding video. We dont have cable yet and thats my favorite movie and I know Al loves it too!! I would post some wedding photos, but we dont have them yet, so stay tuned to our blog. I highly reccomend saving it to your favorites as it will be one of your favorite things to read every week. Here is a few pics of my bridals at the Salt Flats which was amazing. The 3 hour drive to Wendover was totally worth it, just ask my mom.
