Freshly Made Sketches #3

Wednesday is here and with it comes the new Sketch at Freshly Made Sketches and a new baby cousin...yes, my cousin Debra Croghan and her hubby Dean have just welcomed a baby boy today!  So exciting!  All I know is that he is 8lbs, 12oz....mom and baby are doing well but they are tired!!!  Watch for a baby card this week! LOL!

This week's sketch is one I made up for the team, I sure hope you like it!

I did make a card for it weeks ago...this is what I created with the "Growing Green" stamp set.  It is one of my favourite sets in the book!

Then at the last minute I was inspired to make a card that flipped the sketch and used the "Field Flowers" set...just for fun!  I am all out of pearls right now...ack!  I need to put in an order for some, I love them on my butterflies!

If you have any questions regarding either card, please feel free to email me.  My email is located in my banner at the top of my blog.

Thanks for stopping by!!!

And Holly will pick a Random Winner to receive OPI's Pirate of the Caribbean Mini Set.

The Design Team has some great inspiration to get you started check them out by clicking HERE and don't forget this week's Rock Star will be our Guest Designer for June!

My card was made with the Flower Fest set AGAIN!! Yes, I love it!  This time I used the Rose Stamp and cut them out by hand.  I could have punched them out with the 1 1/4" Circle Punch but I wanted to show the true curves to the rose.  I added a pearl to each rose and I used the crimper to crimp the paper right above and right below the sentiment.  It is hard to see in the photo but I love how the crimping highlight's the sentiment.  The sentiment comes from the "Word Play" stamp set which is on sale right now!!!

I used all recycled pieces from my scrap box to make this card!  I had the Melon Mambo piece already cut and embossed.  The black card base was left over from another card and the ribbon was also in my stash.  This is another retirement card for another secretary who is retiring at the end of June.  I thought the sentiment was fitting, "Imagine the Possibilities".  I sure could imagine them if I was retiring but I have 25 years to go!!!

Picture Perfect Creations Specialty Challenge: A Sketch

Today at Picture Perfect Creations, we have a sketch for you to try!  This sketch is terrific because it is versatile and easy to work with!  I decided to use the colours River Rock, Cajun Craze, Riding Hood Red, Basic Black and Very Vanilla.

I watercoloured the flower from the set "Growing Green".  I stamped it with Black Stazon Ink onto Watercolour Paper and using my Markers and my Aqua Painter, I coloured the flower.

The River Rock background paper was embossed with the Finial Press Embossing Folder.  I used the 5/8" Black Satin Ribbon and inked up my Pearls with a Sharpie to make them black for the two brads at the side of the card.  The sentiment comes from the "Word Play" set which is on sale right now at SU!.  It is part of the scrapbooking sale they are having for May!

That is all!  I sure hope you get the chance to play along this week!  To play along, please click HERE.

Paper Players 31 ~ A Sketch from Ann

This week at the Paper Players Challenge Blog we have a wonderful sketch by mega-talented stamper and DT member, Ann Schach!  She created a versatile sketch for us by which I was immediately inspired!

I made a total of 4 different cards for this sketch because I was SO inspired!  I just could not decide on what one to use but in the end, my cupcake punch won out and I made a Birthday Card using my Cupcake Punch and Wordplay Sentiment Stamp Set.  I used the pretty Valentine Paper from the Valentine Bundle that ends tomorrow.  Using my Stampin' Write Markers, I inked up the sentiment in Pretty in Pink and Real Red.

I hope you get the chance to play with the Paper Players this week and challenge yourself to try something new!  A sketch is always a great starting point!!

Splitcoast Stampers Sketch Challenge 300

Two posts for one day!!!  Wow!  But it is World Card Making Day and I was on a mission to have some fun!  This is a card I made for the current SCS Sketch Challenge.  The sketch was really Clean and Simple and I was inspired to play.

I decided to use some of my new Blueberry Crisp Designer Paper from Stampin' Up.  I love the Pacific Point colour and have been playing with it lots!!!  I inked up the Eastern Blooms set in Marina Mist and Pacific Point to create the flower to the side, I thought the Eastern Blooms flowers matched the designer paper.  Then I added a gemstone to the centre of the flower.  I used the Little Leaves die to create a blue leaf and inked up this cute sentiment from the new Word Play Stamp Set.  I also used my new Scallop Square Bigz Die from the Mini Holiday Catalogue!!  I LOVE it!!!

Paper Players Challenge #15-A Colour Challenge

The amazing Ann Schach has created a beautifully warm and cozy colour challenge for us this week at the Paper Players!  She has chosen the colours Old Olive, More Mustard, Cajun Craze and Early Espresso...doesn't that make you think of warm cozy sweaters and a fireplace aglow...

My card is a clean and simple look at these colours.  I wanted to mix things up a bit and make a square card.  My card measures 4.25" x 4.25".  I embossed all 4 squares and used my Little Leaves die to add a touch of Old Olive.  The sentiment comes from the new set called "Word Play".

I hope you get the chance to come and play with Ann's Colours and the Paper Players this week!

Guest Designer for Stampin' Royalty

This week I am a Guest Designer for the Stampin' Royalty Design Team.  I was so excited to be asked by Sandra Farrell to play along with her team this week!  I love their challenges!!  This week's challenge is Monochromatic Neutrals...I did my first card for the challenge in traditional neutral colours...Early Espresso, Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla and Soft Suede.  I used three new sets on this one card..."Word Play", Friends Never Fade" and "Elements of Style".  I created my own DSP on the Crumb Cake cardstock using the En Francais BG stamp and Soft Suede.

After that, my mind got thinking of using all Blues as a Monochromatic Colour Scheme and I pulled out the "Because I Care" Hostess Set.  I love this set and the way it stamps.  I was also excited to use my new Marina Mist Satin Ribbon!!!  OH it is SO beautiful and shiny!!  I used Bashful Blue, Marina Mist and Not Quite Navy on this card.

Come and join the fun challenge this week at Stampin' Royalty and play along with the Goddesses!  They have created superb samples to share with you!  Please click HERE to play along with the challenge this week.

Triple Play Challenges: Mojo 153, Colour Q 47 and Party Time Tuesdays 13

I took two days to "design" this card and I am still not completely happy with how it turned out but it is the best version of it so far.  I think I need to rework it but for now...this is what I came up with!  It all started with Arielle's colours over at the Colour Q...Poppy Parade, Taken with Teal, Basic Gray, Whisper White and More Mustard...then I noticed the challenge at Party Time Tuesdays.  They were looking for a Birthday card for a child.  Then I remembered seeing Mary Fish's cool sketch at Mojo Monday and it all came together!

Here is my creation....which was a challenge for me to photograph!!!  Sorry!

And here it is from another angle...

I made the birthday hat using my crimper to crimp some More Mustard paper and then cut out a small triangle, then added a little Poppy Parade flower using the Boho Blossoms punch...and I added some bling with the new jewels.  I just love Owls...they are part of my classroom theme...so I had to have this punch! LOL!

Paper Players Challenge #12-Inspiration from Jaydee

The talented Jaydee has come up with a fabulous photo for us this week to use as an inspiration at the Paper Players Challenge Blog!  I was stumped at first with what to do but the colours really grabbed me, particularily Poppy Parade, So Saffron, Whisper White and Basic Black.  Here is the Inspiration Photo below!  Yummy isn't it!!!  Look at all that scrumptious food!  I thought of making a card that had a French Flair or maybe with some food images but the colours really stood out for me...loved those bright strawberries!!!

This is the card I came up with in Jaydee's Clean and Simple Style that I so admire.  I let the colours do all the work this week!  The white cardstock is actually Shimmery White Cardstock and really gleams in the light.  I used the "Inspired by Nature" Stamp set and the new "Word Play" Stamp set; I love this sentiment.  I left the butterflies simple...I just punched them out of So Saffron DSP with the Extra Large Butterfly Punch.  I was going to add pearls to make the butterflies' bodies but it was too heavy looking on the card.

Now it is your turn to play along!  Drop by the Paper Players Challenge Blog by clicking HERE and link up your creation.  The challenge ends Saturday, August 28th at 6pm.  We can't wait to see what you create!!

Thanks for stopping by!
