Just Add Ink and Freshly Made Sketches {Thank You}

Got home tonight after a lovely night out with my family, only to be inspired by a wonderful colour combo at Just Add Ink. I have been slow with my card making lately, a little burned out and unwilling to cut into paper. Once I saw the awesome colours though, I KNEW what I wanted to make.

I used Tui's pretty sketch at Freshly Made Sketches, and went from there. At first I was going to choose a flower stamp but the "Lacy and Lovely" set caught my eye! So I inked up the largest medallion in Garden Green and the smaller medallion in Chocolate Chip. The card base is in fact, Kraft, from a non SU! company. I was all out of Crumb Cake paper but desperately wanted to play along, so I chose the closest "Kraft" colour I could find. The side panel is embossed and I added a medallion stamped on the inside of the card too! I had so much fun creating this card! Thank you to both teams for the wonderful challenges!

As always, please email me if you have any questions!

Just Add Ink and CAS-ual Fridays

Today at Just Add Ink, they are hosting a wonderful sketch challenge!  The CAS-ual Friday Challenge blog is asking us to Just Add Colour. I loved the simple layout and decided to play with a Pink Cat digital stamp from my stash.

I love this little Dino.  So I inked him up with my Copics and cut him out carefully.  Then, using my deckled rectangle nestabilities, I framed him for the centre of the card and popped him up on dimensionals. I used the Rectangle shape instead of the Oval

This little Dino is having a yummy “bite” of cake! I love it, this is how I want to eat cake but I try to restrain myself! LOL!  I wanted the sentiment to reflect that a person SHOULD eat cake and have some fun on their birthday too.  So I stamped this…”It’s YOUR day…ENJOY!”
Be sure to visit the gals at the Just Add Ink and CAS-ual Friday Challenge blogs to play along this week! I am so happy you stopped by!

Pals Paper Arts and Just Add ink

Ppa color
Pals Paper Arts is hosting a cool colour challenge this week...I'll admit, I was intriuged and wanted to see how the colours would work together.  So I created a card...I am not sure how I feel about it...it is just not what I had in mind but I did it!!!  This card is also for the Just Add Ink Sketch which I thought was awesome this week. I loved the dots below the main image on the sketch, hence my use of the scallop border punch and the pearls...

I used the Summer Solstice stamp set again and tried to channel my pal Ann...I added some pearls and some baker's twine and sponged the edges.
Thanks for stopping by!!!

**Edited to add**
Oh my goodness! This card won at both Just Add Ink and Create with Connie And Mary this week!  I am so thrilled!  It has been a long time since I have won a challenge!  Thank you so much ladies!!!!

I have not had the chance or even the drive to make some cards for challenges in quite a while.  I think I was on burn out mode but after two weeks away from the computer, I do feel refreshed and I was inspired by the great sketch at Create with Connie and Mary and with the awesome colours at Just Add Ink.
I'll admit, I was really challenged by the sketch but I decided to go for it!  I inked up a new stamp called "School Lines" for my sentiment.  The sentiment is also from a new stamp set called "Pursuit of Happiness".  I love the sentiments in the set!

The weather is not cooperating with me today for photos, sorry they are so dark but it was worse in my craftroom!  Sometimes photos just don't work!  I actually used the new embossing folder for the background, it is all straight, chunky lines and the piece of Chocolate Chip paper is crimped.  The flower is from the set called "Growing Green" and is stamped in Black Stazon and watercoloured on watercolour paper with Not Quite Navy Ink.
Thanks for stopping by!!!

Lesley

Sketchbook Saturday and Try Stampin' on Tuesday

I wanted to make a set of four cards for a class I am offering.  I went looking for some inspiration and found two lovely sketches.  One at the Sketchbook Saturday Challenge Site and one at Try Stamping on Tuesday.

For the Sketchbook Saturday sketch I created this card:

For the Try Stampin' on Tuesday challenge I created this card, I just switched the sketch around and went long with my card.

Both of these challenges helped me create some cards for a group of cards I was trying to make.  I tried to upload the actually sketch designs but for some reason tonight, blogger wouldn't let me!

Here is the completed set of cards!  I used the current Just Add Ink colours for all the cards too!!

Just Add Ink, Stampin' Up Only Challenges and Mojo Sketch

What a day yesterday.  I work four days a week and yesterday was my off day.  I was lucky enough to have a good, productive day and got many things on my list done.  But the laundry was only just started and the day ran out, so laundry is on my list ALL week.  I am really good at washing and drying the laundry, heck I can even fold it, but somehow it takes days to find it's way to our closet!  Does anyone else have this problem?  I remember stumbling across a blog last year sometime and the gal's title was something like "Things I Make While I Should be Doing Laundry"...I laughed aloud when I read that!

Last night my friend Sigal came over for dinner and I made stuffed peppers. It was the first time I have attempted making them and they came out beautifully.  Even yummy!  It is my mother in law Linda's recipe...and it is a good one!  My hubby was happy!!  So over a glass of red wine, Sigal, my DH Corey and I gabbed and dined.  It was fun and nice to hang out with my pals.  She is a teacher too and we did some gabbing over new math ideas and strategies for the classroom.  Probably boring talk for some of you but I get SO into talking about teaching.  It could never tire me.  I probably wore poor Sigal out! LOL!

After such a productive day, I was excited to see three new challenges posted and I was inspired to play.  The first challenge was from Just Add Ink. They are asking for Just Add Blue as their challenge this week in honour of Anxiety and Depression Awareness Month.  This is the challenge that really got my creative drive going because I love working with blues.  I know my pal LeAnne would be playing too but she is taking a week off from blogging.  She LOVES crafting with blues!

I also found the Stampin' Up Only Blog of Challenges that asked for Material or Ribbon....so I decided to add some major ribbon to my card! I am happy to have found this challenge blog as I am a SU! demo and only use SU! product!

The Mojo Sketch was calling my name and I decided to use the Top Note die to represent the squiggley line at the top of the sketch.  I really liked this sketch.  I also added the Dove for the Oval Shape.

Here are some of the steps I took to make this card:
-I heat embossed the Peace on Earth sentiment from the Level 2 Hostess Set in the Mini Catalogue
-The holly leaves are stamped in Night of Navy to add a Silhouette look to the front panel
-I used the Top Note die and cut off the bottom of it to make it work for the sketch
-the ribbon is made my laying down a strip of two way adhesive and then bunching it all along the tape.  You need to use more ribbon than the length of the card.  I used about one and a half lengths.
-the dove is heat embossed using White craft ink on Navy paper then I cut it out with my scissors
-to add some bling I put two little gemstones at the top left hand corner of this card
-the entire card is sprayed with Spooch Spritz in Vanilla Shimmer.  It has a pretty, soft shimmer to it

**Edit**-I also added this to any Anything Goes Challenge over at Top Tip Tuesday.

Thank you for stopping by!

Just Add Ink and CCMC Sketch

This card was made for a dear family friend Harry.  Harry was an old scotsman, good friend to my dad and just the nicest person in the world.  He passed away a few days ago at the age of 80.  He told me on my wedding day, three years ago, that the reason is was raining that day was because the sun bowed down to the beauty of the bride...he was such a dear man. I loved him.  He leaves behind his wife Jessie, a lovely lady, and so I am sending this card to her.  Harry was not afraid to pass on...he was ready to embrace the beauty of the what was next for him.  He was looking forward to the journey...like a butterfly on the breeze...

This card is made with the sketch from Create with Connie and Mary and uses the colours at Just Add Ink.

Thanks for stopping by.

Just Add Ink #24

Just Add Ink has a simple sketch challenge that was calling my name.  My new SU! goodies just arrived and I decided to play with this pretty new Hostess Level 1 Set called Because I Care.  One of my DT Colleagues from the Stamp-A-Holics DT, Delys Cram, is also a DT member for Just Add Ink.
This card was kept very simple.  It is going to a stamping friend who is fighting an illness.  I inked up the main flower with Rich Razzleberry, Orchid Opulence and Old Olive.  The main panel was created using my Top Note Die.  The riibon is the Old Olive Satin Ribbon and the DSP is Cottage Wall, now retired.

On a personal note, school is now over until September, so I hope to get crafting more.  I need to finish reorganizing my craft room so my mojo can flow freely!

Thanks for stopping by!

Lesley :)

Just Add Ink #18

What a busy weekend I had!  I live in Canada and we just had our May long weekend!  My husband and I went to Sequim, Washington to visit friends and I had the chance to take a workshop with Sandi MacIver.  The workshop was fabulous and I have posted some photos HERE

I have also been working madly trying to get everything ready for my new challenge blog I am starting up!!  All info about that is HERE!

Now, onto my CAS Card!!!  I saw the simple sketch at Just Add Ink and quickly thought of my Sweet Scoops set!  I love that adorable new set and I inked it up in Taken with Teal, Melon Mambo and So Saffron.  I had a little piece of Melon Mambo DSP that needed to be used and suited the sketch perfectly!!
I am in need of Thank You cards as the end of the school year comes closer, there are so many people to thank who have helped out in the classroom this year!!  So I thought this sweet little summer set would be perfect for thank you cards!!  I added a little ribbon to the top of my card...just to "sweeten" the card a little more!  I wish I had that Polka Dot Melon Mambo Ribbon!  It is SO cute!!!  I used my Rose Red Ribbon with this card!!
Here it is at another angle!!  Thank you for stopping by!

Lesley :)

Just Add Ink Challenge #16

**Just a reminder that I am offering BLOG CANDY...please see my post HERE for all details!**
Yesterday I was blog surfing and I came across this delightful blog called "Just Add Ink" and they have a Colour Challenge this week!  I love Colour Challenges!  So I decided to play along.  Here are the colours they asked for!

I inked up my new favourite set, "Watercolour Trio" and a retired stamp called "Weathered".  I need to get the "Sanded" BG stamp as it is similiar!  I inked the flowers in Close to Cocoa, Ruby Red and Pretty in Pink.  I had no Suede paper or ink (it is on my next order) and so I subbed in Close to Cocoa and Kraft.  I used the Saffron as an "aging" tool and sponged the yellow across the main panel...adding an antique look.  I also wrapped some hemp twine around the side of the card.
This was my last piece of Ruby Red and I am so sad to see it being retired.  I am hoping to get another couple of packs before it is gone forever!

Thanks for stopping by!
Smiles, Lesley :)
