Paper Players #99-Colours from Lesley {Sweet Friend} and CAS-ual Fridays

It is time for another Paper Players Challenge and I am the hostess this week! Hooray! I got to choose some colours for the team and decided to go with a bright happy combo of Melon Mambo, Lucky Limeade and Basic Gray. It is also our 99th Challenge at the Paper Players! I began this challenge on my blog, 2 years ago. LeAnne and Jaydee started it with me and wow, we sure had fun getting it going. By August, I realized I needed to make into its own challenge and invited Nance and Ann to the team. Our final design team member to come along was Anne Marie...a darling. And thus, the Paper Player team was born. I love these ladies, even though I have never met them. They are all "Sweet Friends".

I wanted to play along with the CAS-ual Friday crew and their polka dot challenge! I went very clean and simple for this, I am trying so hard to get better at clean and simple! I hope they like my effort!!!

We hope that you will join the Paper Players Challenge this week!  Please be sure to visit the other DT Members to see their wonderful creations!

This week at the Paper Players Challenge, I am the hostess and I have a TIC TAC TOE thang going on! Basically choose any three in a row...across, down, diagonally...I left the center choice up to you, like in Bingo! Sheesh I am mixing up my games here, but you get the drift! This is an Anything Goes Challenge but with the parameters in the Tic Tac Toe box!  I hope you will join in the fun!  I chose the Square Card, Your Choice (Rock and Roll technique for my Butterfly) and Spring.

Scrapbook Essentials BC-Challenge #2 {Wet or Dry Embossing}

This week at Scrapbook Essentials BC, we are challenging you to use Wet or Dry embossing on your project!  I choose to use the Seaside Lighthouse Set, which is one of my favourite sets from Essential Stamps!  I love the way this set stamps, and I coloured it with my Copics.

I hope you can see the Cuttlebug Swirls embossing folder I used on the background piece of my card, I thought it looked like swirling air...what do you think?  I also finished it off with a button, to add a little interest.  My designer paper is from Kaiser Craft, the "Vintage Timeless" collection.

Seaside Lighthouse
We hope you will get the chance to join our challenge this week which will go live at midnight.  Get out your embossing machine, be it heat gun or cuttlebug, and get bossy!!!

Remember, participants do not have to use Essential Stamps to join us.  Just play along with what you have!  If you do use our stamp sets, your name will be entered into a draw at the end of the month for a FREE Essential Stamps Set.  How cool!!!

Thanks for stopping by!!

The Paper Players #67- Colours from Jaydee

Happy Sunday everyone!  I have set up my blog to post today and I hope it has!  Hubby and I are on a two day getaway.  It is the Thanksgiving long weekend here in Canada.  I actually spent the last three days of the week at home, due to an eye infection.  But it seems to be better, thank goodness for eye drops!  I was starting to look a little scary and Halloween is still weeks away!  It isn't pretty!  This week at the Paper Players, Jaydee had a wonderful colour challenge for us!  I'll admit, my Mojo seems to be wacky these days, but I am happy with the card I created, I hope you are too!

Paper Players Challenge #59-Pretty in Pink

Just a quick post tonight as we have company here and I need to get to bed so I can play hostess tomorrow!  We had a great day of visiting already!!!  Anne Marie has challenged us to use three shades of pink!  She LOVES pink and it pretty cute about it! LOL!  So we all had fun putting together some pink pretties for her challenge!

Here is my card for her challenge!  I hope to be able to add more information about this card later.  Sorry I am unable to tonight!!!

Paper Players Challenge #55-For Jake

Happy Sunday!!  Today is supposed to be a beautiful sunny day here and I am ready for it!!  On Monday, July 4th, it was my best friend's birthday, she turned...thirtysomething...and I needed a cute card for her!  Jake is a sweet person and so I decided to make a sweet card for her!  We have been best friends for almost 30 years!  Wow! That is crazy to think about! LOL!

This week at the Paper Players I am the hostess and chose the colours from a brand new Stampin' Up scrapbooking kit called "Tickets and Tags".  I decided this would be a great colour combo for a cheery birthday card!

I used Basic Gray as my "Accent" colour to highlight the Poppy Parade and the Baja Breeze colours.  The Baja card base is embossed with dots to match the Poppy Parade DSP.

I also finished the inside of the card with more designer paper to match!  And here is the picture of the finished card below.  I've not been able to see my best friend to give her this card and present yet, maybe sometime this week!

Paper Players Challenge #52-Wild Melon Delight

This week at the Paper Players, Ann has given us a bright and happy colour combo!!!

I decided that I needed to use my Fun Flowers Die and my Big Shot to create a large flower on the front of my card!!  I used some Melon Mambo DSP from the Brights Collection Paper Pack and I used a Wasabi Glimmer brad for the centre of the flower.  Each part of the flower is popped up on dimensionals.

We have had some GORGEOUS weather here and I took my card outside to be photographed!  The sunlight really highlighted the flower layers!! I embossed the white side of the card with my Finial Press Embossing folder and used the scallop edge punch to add a bit of interest down one side.

As you may know, I love my En Francais BG stamp...I inked it up in Daffodil on the strip of Daffodil cardstock.  I really wanted to create a fresh and clean card!!  It is another Thank You card for my stash and for all those lovely helpers in my classroom this year!

We hope that you will join the Paper Players Challenge this week!  Please be sure to visit the other DT Members to see their wonderful creations!

Friday Mashup #10 -Sending Warm Fuzzies

This week's Friday Mashup is a good challenge because I am always in need of Get Well cards!  I have had a busy week with work and with life.  I spent three days of the week, swimming after work, trying to get into better shape!  I also have a lot of emails to catch up on, I just have not had the chance to reply!! I promise to get to them soon!  It is report card season I am going to be on the computer all weekend writing them!!  But as soon as they are done, I will be back into the swing of things!

This week for the Mashup Challenge, you are welcome to:
  1. Create a project with soft texture...fabric, felt, even cotton balls (ribbon doesn't count).
  2. Create a Get Well project.
  3. Or "Mash it Up!" and create a Get Well project using a Soft Texture!

I don't own any fabric and so I decided to just make a Get Well Card.  One of the new Summer items I have not used yet is the new Flower Garden Embossing Folder.  I actually embossed some velum with the folder and then turned the velum over, colouring the image from behind.  I used the colours Regal Rose, River Rock and Early Espresso.  I have always wanted to try this technique, what do you think?

We hope that you will join the Friday Mashup Challenge this week!  Please be sure to visit the other DT Members to see their wonderful creations!

Friday Mashup Challenge #7: Ribbon, Pearls and all things Girls!

This week for the Mashup Challenge, you are welcome to:

       1. Create a card or project with a Feminine Theme.
       2. Create a card using Ribbon or Pearls.
       3. Or "Mash it Up!" and create a Feminine project using Ribbon and Pearls!

Wanna see the Prizes we have this week? This week's Rock Star will get the Mini Set of OPI's Femme De Cirque Collection:

And Holly will pick a Random Winner to receive OPI's Pirate of the Caribbean Mini Set.

The Design Team has some great inspiration to get you started check them out by clicking HERE and don't forget this week's Rock Star will be our Guest Designer for June!

My card was made with the Flower Fest set AGAIN!! Yes, I love it!  This time I used the Rose Stamp and cut them out by hand.  I could have punched them out with the 1 1/4" Circle Punch but I wanted to show the true curves to the rose.  I added a pearl to each rose and I used the crimper to crimp the paper right above and right below the sentiment.  It is hard to see in the photo but I love how the crimping highlight's the sentiment.  The sentiment comes from the "Word Play" stamp set which is on sale right now!!!

I used all recycled pieces from my scrap box to make this card!  I had the Melon Mambo piece already cut and embossed.  The black card base was left over from another card and the ribbon was also in my stash.  This is another retirement card for another secretary who is retiring at the end of June.  I thought the sentiment was fitting, "Imagine the Possibilities".  I sure could imagine them if I was retiring but I have 25 years to go!!!

PPC #57 and Hand Stamped Sentiments-For Mom

This week at Picture Perfect Creations is the most marvelous colour challenge! I love Melon Mambo and Wild Wasabi, so I was pretty excited to ink up my new Fabulous Florets set again for this card!!!  As you might have noticed, I used Whisper White instead of Very Vanilla...I should have confirmed the colours first instead of going from memory!!!

I stamped the flowers in Pretty in Pink and Melon Mambo, I don't own Pink Pirouette...yet!  I hope to get it soon, I love how soft and pretty it is!

I also made this card for the current Hand Stamped Sentiments challenge which is a Mother's Day Theme.

I wanted the card to be fairly clean and simple and so I used the Tulip Frame Embossing Folder to add some detail to my card.  I made it for my mother-in-law, she loves bright pinks and I thought this would be a special card for her!!

Come on by and join us at Picture Perfect Creations!  This colour combo is so springy and fun, I know you will love working with it!

Paper Players Challenge #40-Sketch by Nance and Blog Candy Winner

What a terrific week!  As you probably noticed, I have been playing with My Digital Studio and designed a brand new blog banner and created the new background too!  It is SO much fun!!!!  And I am very excited to post my first Card Tutorial for sale!  It has been well received!  Thank you to Cathy, Trudy, LeAnne, AM and Sandi for encouraging me to make my tutorial available to others!

This week at the Paper Players, Nance has provided us with a terrific sketch that can be dressed up or kept simple!  I decided to land somewhere in the middle of those two choices, coming up with a card that was easy to make and has some "extras" on it.

Here is the sketch!

And here is the card I created for it!  I always need more birthday cards!! Can you see that I embossed the top of the cupcake...so fun!!! And I just love the colour Melon Mambo!

Now, to announce my Blog Candy Winner!  A big thank you to everyone who shared their favourite type of challenge with me!  The randomly selected winner is...Tania!
Tania said:
I like sketches. It can be nice to have a theme, as Jan says, to help with stamp decisions, but sometimes I want the freedom to just choose a set on my own based on my personal card making needs.

Congratulations Tania!  Please send me your mailing address and I will get your candy out to you right away.  My email is located at the top of my blog. :D

Thank you for stopping by!  Be sure to visit the Paper Players Blog to see the design inspiration and to upload your own creation!

Lesley

Card Club Projects and new Club starting in April

I just had my card club this week!  I meet once a month with a fabulous group of ladies...we have fun and usually make two projects that they get to keep!  This month I was showing them the "Growing Green" stamp set which I LOVE!!!

We made two simple cards, showing how easy it is to make a Clean and Simple card quickly, if you need one for a special occasion but are short on time!  Birthdays are always a popular card to have on hand!  We also did the technique of stamping colour on colour...so we used Certainly Celery Ink on Certainly Celery Paper.  I love that look!!  It is hard to see in my bright photo but we stamped the smaller flowers from ths set right over the large flower.  The colours we used were: Melon Mambo, Pretty In Pink and Certainly Celery.  We also completed the inside the same way.

For our second card, we used "Mr. Big" aka the Big Shot and embossed the whole front panel of the card front with the Finial Press Embossing Folder.  Then we stamped the main flower in Melon Mambo onto Pink Pirouette Paper! I love that look too!

Thanks ladies for another fun club!  I have a new Card Club starting in April.  We have room for 3 more ladies.  We will meet April, May and June.  Then take the summer off!  Then we will meet up again for September, October and November.  If you are interested in joining our Crafty Croghan Card Club or if you have any questions about the Club, please email me by clicking HERE and then leaving me a message.
