Colour Dare #101-Certainly So Marina and CPS Sketch

Due to blogging issues last week, this challenge never went live on the CD blog, so we are reposting it this week.

This week at the Colour Dare, Riley has a really pretty colour combo of;

Marina Mist
Certainly Celery
So Saffron

I immediately thought of making a baby card but then I decided to make a card using the current CPS Sketch Challenge.  The sketch is awesome and one that would provide so many cool card creations!  I decided that little circle should be the biggest flower from the new "Flower Fest" stamp set that is available in the current Summer Mini Catalogue!

I dug up some retired SO Saffron DSP and a small piece of Pear Pizzazz which I subbed in for Celery.  The main flower was stamped three times on Whisper White CS and then I punched out the first flower with the 2 3/8" scallop circle punch and cut out the other two layers by hand!  Vicki Burdick made THIS card and she lightly coloured part of the flower, and I love the look, so I tried that here with my Bashful Blue SU! marker.  A few pearls and a punched out sentiment was all I needed to complete the card! What a fun colour combo and what a terrifc sketch!!!

We hope that you will join the Colour Dare this week!  Please be sure to visit the other DT Members to see their wonderful creations!

It is Wednesday which means another great colour challenge from Colour Dare!  I also decided to play along with Stamping 411 which I have not had the chance to play along with in such a long time!!  I loved their sketch this week and knew I had to play along, I hope they do not mind I combined these two challenges!!!

This week at the Colour Dare, Riley has put together three beautiful colours!!!

Baja Breeze

I decided to ink up a retiring set called "All Holidays".  The sentiment comes from that set and it is one of my favourites!  I also inked up the "Charming" set.  I used a Baja "Glimmer brad" in the centre of my circle.

Colour Dare #102- Crushing on Pansies

This week at the Colour Dare, Riley has asked us to use some gorgeous colours perfect for Springtime!  This week I struggled with the colours and then I found inspiration on Kathy Schweinfurth's Blog "The Paper Stamper".  She is a fellow design team member for the Friday Mashup and I just adore her creative style!

The Colour Dare colours this week are:
Concord Crush
So Saffron
and a Neutral

On Kathy's blog is a terrific tutorial on how to make Paper Pansies using the Butterfly Punch.  I have wanted to try this technique for a long time and was excited that the colours this week were perfect for Pansies!
  1. I punched out 4 Whisper White Butterflies
  2. I sponged each one with Concord Crush Ink
  3. I left the centre of each butterfly clear and then sponged So Saffron into that space
  4. Then I layered the butterflies as Kathy said to do, and then I followed the rest of her instructions, including rolling the sides of the butterfly to make the flower seem more 3D.

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you get the chance to join us at the Colour Dare this week.

Colour Dare Challenge 101

This week at the Colour Dare, Riley has cooked up a pretty palette for you to try!  She has asked us to use the feminine colours:

Regal Rose
Old Olive
Early Espresso
and a Neutral

I was trying to figure out what stamp set to use and then I decided to use my new "Flower Fest" set which goes with so many of the Stampin' Up Punches!!!  I used the 2 3/8" Scallop Circle Punch with this card and the Butterfly Punch!  I needed a card for our wonderful secretary who is retiring at the end of the school year!  We are ALL so sad to see her leave but we are happy that she is able to retire with her husband and kick up her heels and have some fun!!!

Head on over to the Colour Dare to play along with this wonderful challenge this week!!  I hope you get the chance to join us!

Exciting News!!!

I am excited to share that I have been accepted onto the wonderful Colour Dare Design Team!  To start off my design team duties, Riley has asked us to use the colours:

Rose Red
Baja Breeze
Sahara Sand

I absolutely loved these pretty colours and I thought of my new "On the Grow" stamp set from the Summer Mini Catalogue.  So I inked up the flowers from that set with my Stazon Inkpad in Black and watercoloured the flowers with my aqua marker.

Then I added some dimension but using Crystal Effects on my flowers and the glass vase, to make them shiny and different.  You can see the Crystal Effects much better if you click on the photo to enlarge it!

Stop on by the Colour Dare to play along!

Colour Dare CAS

Tonight I was inspired to play along with the gals at the Colour Dare.  They have an intriguing colour combo this week...

Cherry Cobbler
Marina Mist
Basic Gray

These colours are so unusual together and right away I thought of a boy's birthday card but after several attempts, I just couldn't make that work!  So then I decided to go simple...clean and simple!  I have wanted to ink up my "Friends 24/7" set for a while...I finally bought it last month, after years of borrowing it from a friend.  It is my all time favourite set and I knew I had to have it! So here is my Clean and Simple take on the colours this week...nothing "groundbreaking" but I am happy.  I think this will be a nice card for my stash!!!

I thought about embossing or stamping the background of the card but I decided to let it be!  I used my Blender Pens to colour the flowers, the stems are coloured with the blender pen and gray ink.  Maybe I should have coloured the flowers Cherry Cobbler?  I will have to try that next time.

Thank you for stopping by!

Stamping 411 and Colour Dare

Wow!!  I was amazed to see that I reached 100 readers today! What a wonderful thing, to see that 100 today! I did a happy dance!  Thank you to everyone who comes to visit my blog.  I never knew about the reader program until a gal emailed me and asked if I had it hooked up to my blog!!  So thank you for challenging me to learn new stuff like that and for stopping by in your busy day to visit me!

As you know, one of my most favourite challenges is Stamping 411.  I love their sketches and this week they have a great one!  I changed one element of the sketch! Instead of the Modern Label Punch at the bottom left hand corner of the card, I used the Little Leaves die and made that my accent.  I also used the colours from the current Colour Dare.  I'll admit, it was tough but I am happy with how they turned out!!  Tempting Turquoise, Pear Pizzazz and Tangerine Tango.

I used the leaves as the main focal point of my card and added some little flowers with the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack!  The sentiment is from Fabulous Phrases once again and I made my own tag!!!  Do you know how I did that?  I got this terrific idea from Brenda over at her blog QBee's Quest.  Click HERE to see her post!!  Such a clever idea!!!  She is calling it her 'Decorative Label Punch Mini Label".

I added some pearls to each little flower I punched out and I used some retired paper from the Sweet Pea DSP pack from last year.  I used the "de"-bossed side of the finial press embossed paper...I like how it looks!  I thought this would be a different kind of Valentine's card!!  We do Christmas cards in non-traditional colours, why not a Valentine Card?

Thanks for stopping by!!

Colour Dare #90 -A Sneak Peek

I was surfing around some of the weekly challenges out there and stumbled upon the current Colour Dare Challenge.

The colours this week are Baja Breeze, Rich Razzleberry, Pink Pirouette and Very Vanilla.  These are not usually colours I play with but I was determined to give them a try!!  I decided to use my new Cupcake Punch that is coming out in January in the new mini catalogue from Stampin' Up.  So this is a bit of a sneak peek too!!!  I used my crimper to add a little zip to the bottoms of the cupcakes.

I used the set called "Fabulous Phrases" for the sentiment.  This card is Clean and Simple, easy to create and fun!!  I really love this terrific colour combo that the gals have chosen at the Colour Dare!!

Thanks for stopping by!

Catching up on my Favourite Challenges

I have been running on empty these days.  I am just so pooped after work! But tonight I finally had the chance to play along with some of my favourite challenges.  I am going to list them all together here in one post which is not my usual style...but life has been busy.  It is only two cards but for 3 challenges!

Okay...here goes...

This first card is for the current Pals Paper Arts Challenge which is a "Fall Themed" Challenge.  I used a few new items from my stash.  I started with the Naturals White, Basic Gray and Crumb Cake Cardstock.  Then I inked the leaves in Really Rust.  The brads are from the Neutrals Collection and the ribbon is the Early Espresso 1/8".  I also used the French Foliage, Seasonal Sentiments and Sanded Background Stamp Sets.

The next card is for the current SCS sketch challenge and the Colour Dare Challenge which was to use Poppy Parade, Pear Pizzazz, Chocolate Chip and Very Vanilla.  I used the Awash with Flowers set for my friend Shellie because she asked me last night to make a card with this set.  I hope you like it Shellie!!

Thank you for stopping by!  I always appreciate your thoughts and comments.  I hope you have a great Friday!

Colour Dare and Pals Paper Arts

I am inspired by Ann Schach and LOVE the way she puts cards together.  I promised her I would try to play along with the Pals Paper Arts Challenge tonight which was to use a button on your card.  I confess, I am a buttonless stamper...I need to get my hands on some of those great new buttons in the Holiday Mini.  Instead I dug out my Buttons Die to use in the Big Shot and cranked out a button made of Daffodil Delight Paper and sponged it with Chocolate Chip.  This card was also made for the current Colour Dare Challenge to use Daffodil Delight, Chocolate Chip and Very Vanilla.  I really love those colours together!  I chose those colours because of Nance Leedy and her inspirational cards!!  She often awes me with her work.

So there it is...I am posting to see what you all think.  Is it a too busy or am a close to creating something adequately Vintage?

Supplies Used:
Stamps: Elements of Style, Because I Care
Paper: Chocolate Chip, Daffodil Delight and Very Vanilla
Inks: Chocolate Chip, Daffodil Delight
Tools: Crimper, Big Shot, Buttons Die, Retired Chocolate Chip Ribbon, Sponges, Distressing Tool

Thanks for stopping by...

Stamping 411 Sketch Challenge and the Colour Dare

This card was made for two challenges: The Colour Dare and Stamping 411 Sketch Challenge. The Colour Dare asked us to use Certainly Celery, Tempting Tuquoise and Chocolate Chip. I inked up the Medallion Background Stamp in Turquoise, love how it stamps in that colour! The ivy is stamped in Celery. I used the Vintage Vogue Set on most of the card. I also added a little butterfly to the top corner with my Butterfly embosslits die.

Thanks for stopping by!
