Casual Play Date with Fun Colours and a Neat Technique!

Just a quick and easy card for some challenges tonight! My colours come from the Play Date Cafe. They are celebrating their Third Anniversary and I wanted to celebrate along with them! Congrats to the team! I also wanted to join in the fun at CAS-ual Fridays and make a clean and simple card that is off the edge...a fun challenge and something I don't try a lot. I wanted to use this pretty circular stamp and make it look like snow was falling...off the card...this is also a one layer card, which is rare from me but I am beginning to see the merits of clean and simple stamping. I am trying hard to stamp like this! Hahaha! Which is kind of ironic!

Stamps: Charming, More Many Messages
Cardstock: Flourishes White
Inks: Poppy Parade, Rich Razzleberry and Midnight Muse
Punches: 1 1/4" Circle

Freshly Made Sketches #36 {A Sketch from Tui}

These next few weeks you will be seeing less of me on my blog as I have the opportunity to work with a children's chorus in "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat". I will be sitting and teaching them songs rather than sitting and making cards! But it is only until June 15th and I will be back more regularly after that!

This week I have my cards ready for all my challenges starting with Freshly Made Sketches! We have a fabulous sketch from lovely Tui Nathan and I was excited to break into the new IN Colour pack and to use the new Ink Pads! I used Raspberry Ripple, and I love it! Those new ink pads are amazing, and I will be buying up some new ones for the other colours too.

We hope that you will join Freshly Made Sketches this week!  Please be sure to visit the other DT Members to see their wonderful creations!

Colour Dare #104 and Stamping 411

It is Wednesday which means another great colour challenge from Colour Dare!  I also decided to play along with Stamping 411 which I have not had the chance to play along with in such a long time!!  I loved their sketch this week and knew I had to play along, I hope they do not mind I combined these two challenges!!!

This week at the Colour Dare, Riley has put together three beautiful colours!!!

Baja Breeze
Not Quite Navy
Cajun Craze

I decided to ink up a retiring set called "All Holidays".  The sentiment comes from that set and it is one of my favourites!  I also inked up the "Charming" set.  I used a Baja "Glimmer brad" in the centre of my circle.

Thanks for stopping by!!!  I hope you get the chance to play with us this week at the Colour Dare!!

Just Add Ink and CCMC Sketch

This card was made for a dear family friend Harry.  Harry was an old scotsman, good friend to my dad and just the nicest person in the world.  He passed away a few days ago at the age of 80.  He told me on my wedding day, three years ago, that the reason is was raining that day was because the sun bowed down to the beauty of the bride...he was such a dear man. I loved him.  He leaves behind his wife Jessie, a lovely lady, and so I am sending this card to her.  Harry was not afraid to pass on...he was ready to embrace the beauty of the what was next for him.  He was looking forward to the journey...like a butterfly on the breeze...

This card is made with the sketch from Create with Connie and Mary and uses the colours at Just Add Ink.

Thanks for stopping by.

Stamp-A-Holics #124 and Sketch'n'Colour #13

Hooray it is another week of the Stamp-A-Holics Challenge!!  This week we were given an awesome sketch by design team member Cynthia!  I love her clever sketch, it is open ended and so fun to play with!  Remember to play along we have three rules...

A card must be completed in 10 minutes
A scrapbook page in 20 minutes
A 3D item in 30 minutes

As soon as I saw the sketch, I knew that I had to use my new "Punched Posies" set from the Mini Summer Catalogue, it is the Hostess Level 2 set!  I also found a new challenge blog called "Sketch'n'Colour" and was intrigued by their great colour challenge this week!  So I decided to make a card!
Mr. Snappy, our phone and my watch dog for time, is all set at 7:05pm!  Mr. Snappy had to be convinced to play this week as I beat him last week...needless to say, it was difficult to get him to play!
I wanted to make a CAS (Clean and Simple) card! I cut all of my paper and had my inks ready to go, that took about 2 minutes!  Or so I thought!  My paper dimensions are: Pale Plum (A2 Size), Elegant Eggplant (3.75" x 5") and White (3.5" x 4.75").  Really simple!
And here is the finished product!  It took me a few stamping tries to get the flowers and the sentiment right where I wanted them!
But I am happy with the result...it was so out of my comfort zone to stamp the sentiment "askew" like this and directly onto the card front!
And here is Mr. Snappy looking SMUG!  I took 29 minutes to make this card! In my defense, I did have a quick phone call!!!  LOL!
Thanks for stopping by! It is now YOUR turn to play along.  Please visit Carole'Anne's blog to link up your creation and be sure to visit the other DT member's projects!

Supplies:
Stamps: Punches Posies, Charming, Favourite Thoughts
Paper: Whisper White, Pale Plum, Elegant Eggplant
Ink: So Saffron, Old Olive, Basic Black, Pale Plum, Elegant Eggplant
Extras: Clear Blocks A, C, E, H
Supplies: Elegant Eggplant 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon

Stamp-A-Holics Challenge #122-3D Project

Thank you for dropping by my blog! For our current Stamp-A-Holics Challenge we are challenging you to create a 3D Item. There is only one catch! The 3D Item must be completed in 30 minutes!  I timed myself at 32 minutes tonight!  I wanted to try my Charming Set with some fun, bold colours!  I followed the directions found HERE for the 3D Hanging Treat Box on Splitcoast Stampers! It hangs on a Wine Bottle and it gets filled with goodies!
Here is Mr. Snappy...all ready to go!  It is 10:01pm...on Thursday night, last night to be exact! I have not had one night this week to work on this!!!  I have to get this done because I have to work in the wee hours...and teach my Grade 2/3 class!!
Here are my supplies...I am ready to go!
Following the first few steps gets me to this point!  I need to tape it together!!
My whole intention was to try something new...and I just couldn't get into it!  I made one of these hanging treat boxes for my Father's Day Club project this week and I loved how that turned out.  So I went with that idea again and made a little matching card this time.  The card fits in the treat box!!  The rose is a 3D rose I made with my Ornament Punch.  I thought I would add something to the photo to brighten up the shot!  Do you see the sheen on the projects?  I used Smooch Spritz in Vanilla Shimmer and I am in LOVE with that stuff!  Wow!  It really adds a fine shimmery sheen to a project!!
To get this all done, I forgot to photograph Mr. Snappy at the end of this project, so you will have to take my word that I spent 32 minutes on it!!!  Poor Mr. Snappy, he seemed quite vexed!

To play along this week, please visit Carole'Anne's Blog to find Mr. Linky!

Stampin' 411 Sketch Challenge

For the past few weeks I have missed the deadline for the Stampin' 411 Challenge and so tonight I was determined to make a card for it! I wanted to try to stretch myself and to really use the "Charming" set in an interesting way. So I decided to make a flower! The sentiment is from the SAB set Vintage Labels and the flower stem is from Fifth Avenue Florals. I tried to tie a bow to the ribbon but it just didn't look right, so I kept the ribbon fairly simple. I did use 2 ribbons...the Vanilla Satin layered on top of the wider retired Chocolate Satin Ribbon . I used Really Rust, Chocolate Chip and Always Artichoke as my colours.

Colour Throwdown #86

This card was made for the current Colour Throwdown Challenge to use Yoyo Yellow, Garden Green and Suede. I subbed in Kraft for Suede. I used my new favourite set and went for a minimalist card in Very Vanilla. I used my Stampin' Write Markers to colour the flower directly on the stamp. The words are stamped in Sahara. The sentiment is stamped in Stazon.

I'm Back!

After report card writing and a horrible cold/sinus thingy...I am happy to be back to stamping. It has been awful not being able to stamp and so, with gusto, I set about stamping...and came up with a few different cards with a similar layout! This first set I used the Animals Stories set that is FREE with a qualifying purchase. Of course Sale-A-Bration ends tomorrow so I was happy to get this stamp set for free while I could! I made a couple of baby cards, which are always handy to have around!

This next card I used the Charming Set which was in the Holiday Mini. It is still available for purchase and so I bought it, because I love vintage looking stamps. It is difficult to see in the photo but the Sage Shadow paper is embossed with my Texture Plates using the Big Shot. I am really pleased with how this card turned out!
This Butterfly card was one of the cards I was going to teach at my "Kissing and Thumping" Class. I had to cancel this class because of my cold, I didn't want to get anyone else sick! I will be offering the class again mid-April.I hope tomorrow to be able to play the Colour Throwdown and some other fun challenges out there!

Thanks for stopping by!

Chipboard Album

I got out the Big Shot and using the Large Scallop Circle Die, I cut four circles out of chipboard! I had never used the Big Shot for this before and let me tell you! It went through the chipboard like butter! Wow! So I then cut out 8 circles of my Cottage Wall DSP and then fit perfectly over my chipboard scalloped circles!! Tonight I would like to share the cover of my new chipboard album that I made all by myself! All the pages inside are covered with the DSP but I have not completed the inside yet. So I can only share my cover. The stamp set I used on the cover is the "Charming" set from the Holiday Mini Catalogue. Although it is not in any of the current catalogues, it is still available for purchase and so I got it!I am going to work on the inside pages this weekend and hope to share them soon.

Thanks for stopping by!
