Paper Players #69 {Shabby Birthday}

Sunday already! Wow! This week at the Paper Players, the lovely Nance has challenged us with a gorgeous sketch!  Her sketch had me inspired right away and I decided to continue with the shabby, vintage style I have been exploring.  I made THIS CARD yesterday in the shabby vintage style too.

Pool Party is one of the new "In Colours" from Stampin' Up and I thought it would like pretty on my roses from "Elements of Style".  So I inked them up with my Pool Party Marker. Then I inked the leaves in another new In Colour called "Lucky Limeade".  The Designer Paper is from the In Colour Designer Paper Pack.  I inked the edges with my Soft Suede ink and a sponge.  For some reason, I am really loving butterflies and so out came the Beautiful Wings embosslit die again.  I added some pearls as accents.

Friday Mashup #14-Vintage Flowers

This week at the Friday Mashup, Kathy is our hostess and she is challenging us to go Vintage with Flowers!  I decided to draw inspiration from fellow Paper Player Ann Schach. I love her distressed, vintage style!

So, this week for the Mashup Challenge we invite you to:
       1. Create a project with Flowers.
       2. Create a Vintage project.
       3. Or "Mash It Up!" and create a project with Flowers and a Vintage feel!

I inked up my favourite again, "Elements of Style" and watercoloured the image with Tangerine Tango and Peach Parfait inks.  I also used the "Music Wheel" and "Oval All".
Please stop by the Friday Mashup Challenge Blog and join us for this week's challenge!

Thanks for stopping by!!!

Paper Players Challenge #50-Kind Thanks

Lobster!  Yum!  Last night I was fortunate to be invited to Lobster Fest and I had a great time! There was fresh lobster, yummy summer salads and a rockin' band!  Corey and I danced, I boogied with my father-in-law Glen and tore up the floor with one of Corey's workmates!  It was really a good night!!!  The dancing helped burn off those garlic butter calories!!!

Today I have a card I would like to share that I created for the Paper Players Challenge, hosted by the lovely LeAnne.  She is challenging us to make a thank you card or project.  I decided to go Vintage with my card and used the "Elements of Style" stamp set that is one of my favourite SU! sets!!!  We are also welcoming three new Guest Designers to our team: Cindy Beach, Lauri Ingram and Sandra Appozardi. Welcome ladies!!

I used my trusty crimper to make a waffle effect on my cardstock after I stamped the floral image in Stazon and coloured my flowers with a Bashful Blue and a Marina Mist Stampin' Write Marker.  The ribbon is the Marina Mist Satin ribbon, which is being retired. I also used a Kiwi Kiss button to pick up the green leaves I coloured in the image.

My butterfly is from the "Strength and Hope" set. I stamped it in Night of Navy Ink on Bashful Blue cardstock then cut it out with my snips.  I used the sentiment from the "Bold Blossom" set and my new 2 3/8" Scallop Circle Punch.  The scallop edge punch was used to create the pretty edge on the Night of Navy Paper and I wheeled the Music Notes small wheel onto the Marina Mist card base.

We hope that you will join the Paper Players Challenge this week!  Please be sure to visit the other DT Members to see their wonderful creations!

Stamping 411 Sketch

Wow...school just started and now I am into my classroom routine.  I feel like I finally have time to breathe and to make some cards!!!  I was really inspired by the Stamping 411 Sketch.  Actually, I was inspired by their last few sketches...but life has not allowed for card making!!  I wanted to start with the Bells and Boughs set.  I love it.  I used it to make a simple background paper for my card.  I also inked up the French Script in Crumb Cake and tried to create some of my own designer paper.  This Bells and Boughs set is such a clean stamping set.  The images are beautiful as background images and do not always need to be coloured.
So I made my background piece and then made the small rectangle images using the Spotlighting Technique.  Basically I stamped the same images and overlapped them, colouring only the overlapped parts of the image...so spotlight the poinsettias.  I also used lots of sponging with Crumb Cake Ink to give the card have an old fashioned feel.  I flipped the ribbon and the brads to fit my images better.  I stuck true to the main design.  It is a neat sketch.
