What is Whiskey HellChild? A product of the southern condition?
An unanswered voice among the masses? The answer to these questions are complex. They are both, and more. Whiskey HellChild is pure, unadulterated,southern-fried, original Rock-N-Roll. We fully embrace our heritage. Essentially, we are story tellers. Passing along the things that we have seen, heard, and learned. Our subject matter is reflective of the realities of life, and as such, ranges from dark imagery and protest, to happy drunks and partying. We strive for an uncompromising live delivery, and what we deliver is southern metal for the common man.
No offices. No time clock. No boss men…Just good times and heavy southern doom.
In the summer of 2008, founding members Dale Sheffield and Terry Harwood started a small studio collaboration that would eventually become Whiskey HellChild. The product of late night songwriting and sheer determination led to a collection of demos that soon blossomed into a full-length album, PRIMER. Dale and Terry realized that the material needed to be performed live and decided to form a band. Recruiting Mike Musselwhite on bass kick-started the process to find a suitable drummer. Enter Mike Kaloudis, a rookie with a ton of talent. Soon the guys began booking shows in the NC/SC area, with many more to come...
The band started writing new material for their next album, THE IMPENDING SOUTHERN DOOM. After an unexpected move to SC, Terry was forced to leave WHC behind and was replaced by Jeremy Masters in 2009. New material was being written and performed live for a few months before Mike Kaloudis left the band, leaving the band in a brief hiatus. Shane Eudy stepped up and replaced Mike on the drummer's throne, and has been kicking ass since .Not long afterwards, Jeremy moved out of state and the band continued as a trio. In early 2012, bassist Mike Musselwhite left WHC and again the band was on another unexpected hiatus.
Full circle, that's what it comes down to...With so many shows and tons of songs yet to be recorded, Dale and Shane found themsleves at a crossroads. Terry Harwood, founding member and former guitarist, returned to Whiskey HellChild as the new bassist. After only a month since rejoining the band, recording got under way for the follow-up album, THE IMPENDING SOUTHERN DOOM, and it was released in June 2012. Dale, Shane, and Terry looked to reinvent the band as a power trio, and recorded a live ablum, UnALIVE !
With a new attitude and a fresh outlook, Whiskey HellChild is reborn. Not too many bands go through as many hardships and line-up changes and still remain. All we can say is:
"You ain't seen nuthin' yet..."
