From the Blue Ridge mountains of Western North Carolina, Velvet Truckstop is a seasoned powerhouse rock band who delivers a high-energy mix of Southern Rock, Blues and Americana influenced music every time they take the stage! Featuring Jamie Dose (guitar / vocals), Dorsey Parker (guitar), Ian Harrod (bass / vocals) and Jacob Baumann (drum kit), Velvet Truckstop also frequently has notable guest musicians such Tom Constanten (The Grateful Dead) on the piano, Ike Stubblefield (Frank Zappa, Jerry Garcia Band, Eric Clapton, Derek Trucks Band, etc.) on the Hammond B3 and Artimus Pyle (Lynyrd Skynyrd) on drums / percussion, to name just a few!
Velvet Truckstop released their first full length recording in the Fall of 2009 entitled Sweet Release, which was voted #5 on WNCW’S TOP 20 Regional CD’s of 2009 and was featured in several newspapers, magazines and websites. Velvet Truckstop then toured the Southern United States from Texas, down to Florida and up to Pennsylvania. Highlights include having music chosen for the Rock the Cause 2008 compilation CD (benefiting the Special Olympics); performing live on the air for WNCW’s Studio B in 2008, 2010 and 2012; performing at the Warren Haynes Christmas Pre-Jam 2007 – 2011; participating in Austin, Texas’ South By Southwest Music Festival in 2009 and 2010; opening up for Drivin’ n Cryin’ at Asheville’s June 2010 Downtown After 5, and then headlining Asheville’s May 2012 Downtown After 5 to an audience of 6,000+ people!! Throughout 2011 – 2012, Velvet Truckstop has been working hard on their next album in Decatur, Alabama, just outside of Muscle Shoals, with legendary music producer Johnny Sandlin, known for his work with The Allman Brothers Band, Widespread Panic, Derek Trucks Band, and Capricorn Records.
