Southern Shift Records is proud to announce a release date of August 28 for Blackbird, the new EP from The Kenneth Brian Band. Blackbird is the much-anticipated follow-up to their critically acclaimed debut LP, Welcome To Alabama.
The Kenneth Brian Band returned home to Decatur, Alabama to record Blackbird during breaks from touring as opener for Lucinda Williams between 2013-15. The band has amassed a highly loyal fan base owing to Kenneth Brian's capability as a songwriter and the strength of the band's ability to give the audience a poignant and high-energy live performance of those songs. The goal of the EP was to capture the essence of the band's impactful live show, and Blackbird does just that!
For The Kenneth Brian Band, this EP features a new ingredient in the mix: the keyboard wizardry of the late Ikey Owens, a member of The Mars Volta and The Jack White band, who passed away in October of 2014, but not before leaving his unique sonic and spiritual imprint on Blackbird.
Produced by Kenneth Brian under special arrangement with Johnny Sandlin and associates.

ABOUT/OFFICIAL
The music of The Kenneth Brian Band is an introduction to Modern Southern Rock N' Roll, comprised of masterful song-craft, top-notch guitar work, spot-on harmonies, and a take-no-prisoners-rhythm section...all tied together by Kenneth Brian’s engaging voice, empathetic perspective, and humanity. It is perhaps the latter of these qualities that has so enamored fans all over the world to The KBB.
Whether giving one of their characteristically transcendent performances in a back-woods Honky Tonk, or in a majestic sold-out theatre as opener for a celebrated forebear such as Lucinda Williams (who invited the band on tour between 2012-15) The Kenneth Brian Band is sure to satisfy a wide range of audiences. They have amassed a highly loyal fan base owing to Kenneth Brian's capability as a songwriter and the strength of the band's ability to give the audience a poignant and high-energy live performance of those songs.
Hailing from the hallowed ground of the musically rich and culturally significant cotton fields of North Alabama, The Kenneth Brian Band’s idiosyncratic brand of Southern Rock is both progressive and steeped in tradition.
