BIO
I've been playing music for my entire life...Played in the Big Boys from '79 to '84, Poison 13 from '83 - '85, Junkyard from '86 -'92, the Skatenigs in '93 & '94, 99pounds from '96 to 2001, The Charter Bulldogs from 2002 - 2005, and now this. Pretty cool...
This actually began with a conversation... I was talking to my buddy Jon Dee Graham about the fact that I hadn't really written much that was meaningful lyrically for nearly 10 years. That conversation lead to a new approach to writing and a new focus musically.
A couple of months into writing and demo-ing the songs it dawned on me that I was actually in the process of starting a solo project - an idea that was a bit daunting after 25 years of writing and letting someone else do the singing... I love that there are still things that scare me creatively, even after all this time.
Once it got to be time to put a band together, fate and a bunch of mutual friends sent guitar wiz Tony Redman my way... Our first meeting was where Gatesville really began. The more we play together, the more we push each other and the music to see just what we can wring out of'er. The band went through a couple of line-up changesuntil we found Scott Womack on bass and Paul Soliz on drums. Once this line-up came together the band and the music took on a life of it's own.
We started working on a new record - "Welcome To Gatesville" in January 2010 and it's slated for a late April 2010 release.
Playing music I love the way I want to play it with guys I love hanging out with... doesn't get much better than that...
