OFFICIAL BIOGRAPHY
batteryboy is an emotionally charged trio featuring multi-instrumentalists Cobey Rouse, Shannon Frid-Rubin (Cloud Cult) and Eric Carranza (Better Bones). They were recently described by Andrea Swensson of 89.3 The Current as, “reminiscent of Cloud Cult’s acoustic work and neo-folkies like Bon Iver.” But they’re probably summed up best by Daisy Mazy at Sianetradio.com: “batteryboy has a way of mixing soothing melodies with pulsing beats to create a unpretentious, orchestrated blend. While the guitar is comforting, the drums produce an anxiety ridden anticipation. This is music that inspires others to write.”
Originally a solo project by Cobey Rouse, batteryboy has grown to include vocalist/violinist Shannon Frid (Cloud Cult) and keyboardist/guitarist Eric Carranza. Frid and Carranza are the perfect, polished complement of beauty and composure to Rouse’s frantic display of acoustic guitar strumming, heartfelt vocals and pedal-pounding of his three floor drums.
