REVIEW
By Claus Stender
Is Vol. 1 a little more jazz oriented, Vol.2 of "Blues From Mars" is a little more "bluesy". The album of the Atlanta based musician starts with the Sonny Landreth tune "Congo Square" followed by the blues standard "Ain't Nobody's Business" and "Nola Blues". After the blues rocker "Floodwaters" Barry's guitar buddy Jimmy Herring shows his well known playing on "Jackson" as do Jeff Sipe on drums, Rev. Oliver Wells on organ and others. To hear these first class players is pure pleasure! The CD shows now what Barry is famous for: A mixture of Jazz, Blues, Rock and Psychedelic only Mr. Barry Richman can play. Tomas Ramirez the sax player from Austin has a big part with playin' on five songs and even "Jaimoe" legendary drummer of the Allman Brothers Band supports this album on three tracks. He is the "J" in the song "JBD" written by Jaimoe, Barry and David (Stoltz). With the exception of three songs all were instrumentals. Andrew Black sings on these three tracks.
If you love Jazz & Blues and the music played by the best cats the South has to offer then this is YOUR album!
