Burning Rain was founded by current Whitesnake axeman Doug Aldrich together with singer Keith St. John (ex-Montrose). The line-up for the new album is rounded out by Sean McNabb on bass (ex-Quiet Riot, Dokken, House Of Lords) and Mat Starr on drums (Ace Frehley). 'Epic Obsession' comes after a long hiatus from the release of the band's second album, 'Pleasure To Burn', in 2000.
The album is a mix of LED ZEPPELIN, WHITESNAKE, Sleaze / Hard Rock and 80’ like acoustic power ballads, the comfort zone of the foursome crew, and it sounds amazing. The rhythm section of Sean Mcnabb and Mat Starr is tight as you can listen straight from the opening tune “Sweet Little Baby”, an up-tempo Rock N’ Roll AC/DC, LED ZEPPELIN. Keith St. John’s vocals are a mix of Coverdale and Plant but with an American touch, and Aldrich is ripping the hell of his Les Paul with riffs and solos that sound like a mix of 70s and 80’s Hard Rock on steroids.
Of 'Epic Obsession' Aldrich commented, "I think we have a good batch of songs that will stand up. It's a melodic blues rock approach to the band's sound. It's really the only thing I have done outside of Whitesnake in the last ten years."
