ABOUT
MOUNT SALEM is a four piece, female fronted Doom act from Chicago. The band was formed just in 2012 and their EP “Endless” is their first release. This EP contains just six songs and is about 40 minutes long enough to pass for a full length.
Somewhere here I should make a special remark and say that if you are sick of Doom bands playing this female fronted Vintage/Occult type of Rock then MOUNT SALEM has nothing to do with that style. An easy comparison would be with acts like ALUNAH and WITCH MOUNTAIN. MOUNT SALEM borrow from the first the crushing weight of the bass/guitar and from the latter their correct incorporation of Blues.
Like I mentioned MOUNT SALEM is a female fronted band and their singer (I couldn’t find her name…apologies) has some of the warmest vocals you can find in Doom right now. What is more her amazing vocal lines in combination with the catchy horror-like lyrics make the result extremely memorable.
