Love is in the Air

Good morning friends!

Today's share is the card I sent to Sue for February 1st.  (Sue and I live in cities a couple of hours apart and we pop something in the mail to each other on the first of each month). Happy Mail!

I absolutely loved making this card. I did it back in November and it was hard waiting to send it to her. I used lots of dies for this card, but that little bird one takes the cake.

I love the shape of the little heart - it's from the House Framelit set that is for the Pop 'n Cut House insert. I just loaded up the 'sky' with lots of these die cut hearts  - easy to do when you have lots of scraps from the paper stack.

I added a little hand lettering and I was done ...

Just a fun little card - I hope that she enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed making it.

Supplies used:
A2 Pop 'n Cut base with Sassy Label Insert - Karen Burniston (Sizzix)
Cloud die - Memory Box
Heart die - from the House Framelit set (Karen Burniston (Sizzix)
Bird die - Sizzix
Border die - Karen Burniston (Sizzix)
Patterned Paper - Crate Paper

I Dig You, a Valentine Card

Good morning friends!

No way I am hanging onto Valentine card pictures for another year, and I still have a few left to post. This one uses that same Valentine Paper stack I used for most of my cards this year combined with Pop it Ups dies.

The card is my new favourite size - 4-1/2 x 6".  I used my Score Pal to make an envelope using coordinating patterned paper from a different stack. I have several pads of scrapbook paper, but since the paper is too lightweight to use as a card base I make a lot of envelopes from them. That way I get to use some of it up, which of course is my goal for this year. To use up some of the older stash I have hanging around in my studio.

Once the printed papers were layered together, I used one of the decorator dies that come with the 'Heart Pivot' Pop it Ups die set, and cut a heart from the center. I backed the opening with pink polka dotted paper, inked the edges of the panel and attached it to the front of my card.  Then I cut a smaller heart from the leftover heart 'scrap' and edged that with a gold glittery Peel-Off sticker. It was popped up inside the cut-away heart and the front was done.

I had lots of fun creating this little scene inside, using LOTS of dies from the Pop it Ups collection. You can see I snuck in the heart scrap that was cut from the front of the card. It's just subtly coloured enough to add to the theme without being an actual feature.

I also did a little hand lettering. Boy, do I need to practice writing on a straight line!

A note about Digital Stamps. I don't like to use them.  I like to support local stores, with people who  work hard at carrying the latest and greatest items for their customers. The ones to attend CHA and scour around looking for the perfect papers to carry etc etc.  So you won't be seeing too many digital stamps from me.  However ...  I made this card when I was visiting Arizona and I did not have many stamps with me. There is only so much you can fit into a carry-on and I needed SOME clothes.  :-)  Having a couple of digital stamps (also called Digi's) on my laptop gave me a few more images to play with and that's the only reason I broke my rule not to use them.

Also, this ADORABLE dog Digi is from Tiddly Inks and they sell actual stamps as well. Yes I placed an order and you will be seeing more and more of their stamped images on my cards in the future. I love them!

I printed the dog on white card stock, added colour with pencil crayons & fussy cut him out. The pop-up portion, little banner and sign post come from  'Lots of Pops', the tree and clouds are from 'All Seasons Tree', the little ground mounds are from 'Garden Bench' and the top & bottom insert edges were trimmed with an 'Agatha Edge' die.  Whew!

I did trim the tree a little to fit inside the card without hanging over the edge.

Here is a look at the Pop it Ups dies I used for this card. Ask for them at your local retailer, or you can order them from Elizabeth Craft Designs.

Sweet Valentine Pop 'n Cut Card

Good morning friends!

Today's share is another Valentine - I cut a bunch of Valentines back in November with my Pop 'n Cuts dies and a new paper stack. When I went to decorate them this month though, I wanted to also use Karen Burniston's new Pop it Ups dies for Elizabeth Craft Designs

The pink panel was embossed with a Love Hearts embossing folder, then I cut the heart out using one of the Pop it Ups decorator dies that come with the Heart Pivot set. That was backed with the heart patterned paper, and I tied bakers twine through the opening and around the side of the pink panel.

Inside is the basic Pop 'n Cut, but I added more hearts cut using the Pop it Ups Heart Pivot and part of a little 'sweet' banner. The leftover piece was used on a Valentine I posted earlier ...

I stamped the curved Happy Valentine's on the grey heart printed paper and I was done!

Below is a picture of the Heart Pivot packaging ... you can see all the decorator dies you get WITH the Heart Pivot set!

Only a few more Valentine's to share and we can move onto other things.  :-)  I am sure tired of that paper stack by now and won't use it again til next Valentine's Day.

Supplies used:
A2 Pop 'n Cut with included Circle Label insert, Karen Burniston (Sizzix)
Hearts - 775 Heart Pivot  Pop it Ups, Karen Burniston (Elizabeth Craft Designs)
Banner (sweet), trimmed - Recollections
Patterned paper - Crate Paper
Bakers Twine
Embossing folder - Cuttlebug

Jar of Hearts

Good morning friends!

In keeping with my goal to 'use things up' in my studio, today's Valentine uses two rose printed cards I've had for many years.

I cut a slit in the spine and tied the satin ribbon around the card front, then used my new 'jar' stamp on pale pink patterned paper. Some teeny puffy heart stickers fill the jar inside and are spilling out the top as well, and I added some Glitter Dot Peel-Off's to fill in the spaces and add more sparkle.

The little label at the bottom is from one of the Decorator Dies that come with the Lucy Label Pop it Ups die set. (A new collection of wafer thin dies by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs).

The chipboard 'sweet' is from a little Valentine Banner. I used part of the banner on a different Valentine, and this piece was left over.

Here is a peek at the inside ... I used the Lucy Label Pop Up in a vertical orientation on the 2nd rose printed card.  First though, that card was trimmed dwn and I used the Agatha Edge die on the sides.

That cute little 'be mine' banner was in the same package as the 'sweet' one and the ends are held to the card with two puffy heart stickers. The words swing and dangle as the card is opened.

While that 2nd bump out is entirely optional when using the Lucy Label Pop Up ... I decided to use it and added another puffy heart sticker to that.

I cut a heart using one of the Decorator Dies that come with the Heart Pivot die set, to give me a place to add our signature. A little hand lettering on another Lucy Label Pop (after I snipped away the exccess) and I added two more Glitter Dot Peel-Offs and yes ... another puffy heart sticker.

This card is my new favourite size ... 4-1/2 x 6".  Below is a look at the Pop it Ups dies I used for the card ...

Lots of Hearts Valentine Pop-UP Card

Good morning friends!

I'm back today with another Valentine, using a Pop 'n Cuts card with Pop it Ups Accessory dies.

What's the difference between the two? Both collections are by Karen Burniston, but the Pop 'n Cuts is an older collection by Sizzix.  They are the large, bulky steel ruled dies.  The Pop it Ups is Karen's new collection through Elizabeth Craft Designs. These dies are wafer thin and YOU get to decide on the size of your card and where on the fold you want to place your interactive feature! Also - the Pop it Ups collection comes WITH the decorator dies for layering and embellishing. Karen Burniston made sure that this first collection of Pop it Ups will work with her Pop 'n Cuts ...for instance the butterfly and the hearts are the same shape. This lady thinks of everything, let me tell you. It's so much fun being on her Designer Challenge Team.

I cut out most of my Valentine's back in November when I had this new paper stack, decorating them last week with lots of goodies from Elizabeth Craft Designs.  Like these amazingly sparkly heart Peel-Off stickers. You could almost wear them as jewelry, they are so pretty.  :-)

To echo the gold outline on the heart Peel-Off's, I added a pretty gold border Peel-Off as well. What an easy peasy way to add some glam to a card. Even with all the sparkle, this is a completely mail friendly card! Into an A6 sized envelope (the card is 4-1/2 x 6") with one stamp. You are going to be seeing a lot more Peel-Off's in my future projects!

Here is a peek at the inside, where you can see I cut the top and bottom edge of the inside piece with the Agatha Edge die. I love that little extra detail the edge dies give your cards.

I cut a gold metallic paper Circle Label from the coordinating Framelit dies, then used a Decorator Die from the Heart Pivot set to cut the heart window. I backed it with a scrap piece of pink patterned paper, and added some more Peel-Off stickers before popping it up with foam tape.

I stamped the words on the left side of the white card stock strip, so I would have room to sign on the right. I added more Peel-Off border stickers to that white strip, to dress it up a little more.

Ahhh, Glitter Dots - I love those things. Did you know you can change the colour of your Peel-Offs? Yup - with Copic markers and even Sharpies! I didn't do that on this card, but I have been playing around with that idea a bit. Just sayin' ...

A Chicken Valentine

Good morning friends!

I saw a card by Wendy Doherty on Pinterest, and just HAD to make one for our eldest daughter for Valentine's Day. Sort of a private joke, but she's gonna' get such a kick out of this card.

It's a larger card - 5-1/2" wide and 6" tall.  I just drew a heart pattern on scrap paper, then traced onto a folded piece of white card stock leaving 1" of the fold intact. Then I embossed both layers with a candy hearts embossing folder.

I cut smaller hearts from patterned paper, inked the edges then attached them inside. It hides the reverse of the embossing folder, and the backs of the brads I used for eyes.

The 'Sweet Valentine' is a stamp I picked up in the $1.50 bin at Michaels, and I used it on most of our Valentine cards this year.

Supplies used:
Embossing folder - Cuttlebug
Heart dies - Sizzix
Card stock - my stash
Black brads
Patterned paper - Crate Paper
Stamp - Michaels
