'Hats Off To You' Twist Circle Panel Pop-Up Card

Good morning friends

It's time for the Karen Burniston's Designer Challenge for November 2016 - "Hat Attack" - there are 8 different hat choices in the Props/Charms/Anita sets - use one (or more) on a card. Characters are optional - it's all about the hats!

This card did not photograph well ... it is SUPER sparkly in real life! The hats and embellishments, and large label were all cut from glitter paper and I added Glitter Dots as well.

Inside, for the third Designer Challenge in a row, I used Karen Burniston's technique of adapting the Twist Circle Pop-Up to create a Pop-Up Panel card.

Inside there are more glittery hats. So fun!

To create the little scalloped borders, I used the ECD Dotted Scallop Rectangles. They were cut from white glitter paper.

The banners were created with one of the Ring Frame Edges, cut from glitter paper and decorated with Glitter Dots. The little fishtail banner is from the Anita Frames Pop-Up and I decorated it with the bow from the Props 1. I also added the Celebrate from the Flourished Gift Frame cut from blue glitter paper.

Finally, a stamped greeting from the Occasions Clear Stamps and the coordinating Labels and Circles.

I think this card is my new record for the most Pop it Ups dies used on a single card - 14 different sets! They all play so nicely together.  :-)

Be sure to check out the rest of the Designer Challenge Team Blogs to see what they came up with for the challenge. Karen Burniston will have her post tomorrow (Tuesday) on her blog.

Thanksgiving Pop up Panel Card

Good morning friends

Even though I've made several Pop-Up Panel cards using the Twist Circle Pop-Up, I wanted to try one with a regular pattern. But oh, the measuring and the templates were all so complicated as I like cards to be EASY.

My friend B had sent me a Pop-Up Panel card that she made using a YouTube video by Dawn's Stamping Thoughts. So I followed the video and this card went together much easier than I had thought it might. (Link to Dawn's You Tube Video at the end of the post.)

I just love how these cards fold completely flat for mailing!

But - WOW when they are open.

There is lots of gold on the card - I love the Stampin' Up Glitter Paper. The pumpkins & leaves are by Elizabeth Craft Designs and I used both the positive and the negative parts. They were cut from gold foil paper (also from Stampin' Up) and it's just so pretty!

Finally, I gold embossed the greeting and added a strip of glitter paper across the bottom.

Thanks to Dawn for coming up with all the measurements and the video, and making a complicated card much easier to manage. Click HERE to see the video.

October 2016 Team Designer Challenge

Good morning friends

This month, Summer has the theme for our Designer Challenge "Boy oh Boy" ... think rough and tumble, boys will be boys, masculine or manly - no girls allowed!

Once again I used the Twist Circle Pop-Up with Karen Burniston's adaptation to create a Pop-Up Panel Card for the challenge. (Link to Karen's video at the bottom of the post).

How fun is this type of Pop-Up! I decorated each of the little panels with various clear stamps by Karen Burniston, and stickers from the same package as the boy themed patterned papers.

I'm going to save this card for our Grandson Zachary's birthday as it's just perfect for him.

Be sure to check out what the rest of the Designer Challenge Team came up with for the challenge. Karen Burniston will have her post on her BLOG tomorrow (Tuesday).

Halloween Twist Circle Panel Pop-Up Card

Good morning friends

I had some insomnia one night last week - awake at 3am but refusing to get out of bed until 5. Then I headed to the craft room to make another Twist Circle Panel Pop-Up Card. This one is for Halloween.

I tend to keep the fronts of my Pop-Up cards fairly simple, because all the action is inside.

Here is the card opening ...

... then fully open.  I had so much fun making this card. The card base uses the Twist Circle Pop-Up, by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs. At the end of the post I have a link to her video on how to adapt the die to make these Panel Pop-Up cards which are all the rage these days.

I added portions of the Iron Fence to each panel, then decorated the rest with embellishments from my stash. Note,  I did not use foam tape so the card would fold flat enough for mailing.

The labels from the Anita Frames Pop-Up provide the area for a message and signature. I put it on the left side, as you don't want any catch points for the corners of the panels. That way the card opens and closes smoothly.

Here is the link to Karen Burniston's September Designer Challenge Video. It's great to have a die do all the work for you, rather than complicated measuring or templates.

Supplies:
Twist Circle Pop-Up, Pop it Ups - Karen Burniston (Elizabeth Craft Designs)
Black card stock
Fine point scissors - Elizabeth Craft Designs
Clear Double Sided Adhesive, 1/4 and 1/2" width's
Zutter corner rounder
Iron Fence Pop-Up, Pop it Ups - Karen Burniston (Elizabeth Craft Designs)
Grey card stock
Fine point tweezers - Elizabeth Craft Designs
Embellishments - K & Company
Patterned paper - Doodlebug
Anita Frames Pop-Up (labels), Pop it Ups - Karen Burniston (Elizabeth Craft Designs)

C4C 358 - Pop-Up Panel Card.

Good morning friends

It's Saturday  so that means a new challenge at the Crazy 4 Challenges Blog. Our October 2016 hostess is Caz Counsell and our Guest Designer is Heidi Green - The Crafty Goat Girl

Caz's has a sketch for us this week, which I used for the front of my card. The striped patterned paper has some glittered, embossed stripes and the squares were outlined with a gold gel pen. The centre circle was fussy cut from a piece of paper in the same stack and I added glitter dots for even more shimmer and shine.

Karen Burniston and her cousin Jessica came up with an amazing way to create these Pop-Up Panel Cards that have been all the rage in the card making community. Using the Twist Circle Pop-Up and extending the arms ... you get this fabulous Pop-Up card that folds completely flat for mailing. You can find Karen's video and instructions on her BLOG, HERE.

I die cut the leaves from this beautiful heavy weight burgundy embossed card stock, then added Glitter Dots. The patterned paper has either gold foiled bits, embossed & sparkly bits or both!

Another view of the pop-up portion, in case you haven't seen this type of card before.

Check out the C4C blog to see how the Crazies have been inspired by the challenge. We'd  love to see your take on it, so be sure to stop by the Crazy 4 Challenges blog and link up your creations. If you are uploading to an online gallery, please use the keyword C4C358.

ROYGBIV Octobr 2016 Designer Challenge

Good morning friends

It's time for Karen Burniston's Designer Challenge, and this month it's: "ROYGBIV" - It's the monochromatic challenge but YOU pick your color from any of the colors of the rainbow. Make a card featuring predominantly Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo or Violet.

For last months Designer Challenge, Karen Burniston made the most amazing Twist Circle Panel Pop-Up card, with inspiration from her cousin Jessica. These Pop-Up panel cards have taken the paper crafting world by storm so I was pretty excited that she had come up with a way to make this type of card with a Pop-it Ups DIE instead of complicated measuring or template. There is a link to Karen Burniston's card and video at the bottom of my post today.

For my challenge card this month, I chose YELLOW.

The front of my card uses clouds from the All Season's Tree, and the new Labels and Circles. The patterned papers were in my stash, which worked out well. Love using up things from my stash.

I added Stickles around the edges of the clouds, and outlined the scalloped ring and the word 'Hi' with a fine point marker.

Here is a peek at the card as it is unfolding ...

And here it is completely opened up. Amazing how different the Twist Circle Pop-Up looks simply by extending the arms.

To create the large sun, I used the Circles and Labels set, and the rays are the triangle banners from the Anita Frames Pop-Up. I lightly doodled on each one then tucked it under the circle edges.

It's so much fun decorating all the little panels!

The first panel has Lucky the Rabbit. To keep it monochromatic, I coloured his ears, nose and feet with an orange pencil instead of pink.  I stamped words on the second panel and added glittered clouds to the third. The fourth panel has the little yellow woven basket from Props 7 with a heart inside, and a sun from the Oval Pull Card.

Note - because I love my foam tape, I popped the embellishments up. And I like the way that looks! However, it makes for a very thick card when folded up and one that will have to be hand delivered or sent with lots of extra postage. I'll have to remember to keep the images flat on the panels for mailing.

Be sure to check out what the rest of the Designer Challenge team came up with for the rainbow of colours - their blogs are linked on the right. Karen Burniston will have her post tomorrow, Tuesday, on her BLOG.
