A rustique christmas card

Hello everyone!

Today I have another christmas card to share. It's not in the cute style I do so often, it's more a rustique one. I made this card with a special person in mind and know he/she will love it! So, wann see it?

Can you tell that he/she loves nature?

In the background I used the The Old Cottage paper from the Holy Mountains series. I love the look of weathered wood this print has.

On top of that I've added two papers from the Festive Bells 6 x 6 paper pack. I love the green one with the mistletoes and the cream one with the beautiful lace - they both go great with my nature theme.

The paper I used for the long strip placed across my card is the same one that I used for the background again.

All papers are matted using white cardstock and I also added some white paint to the edges.

This deer head was the perfect choice. I've heat embossed it with golden embossing powder and used some brown Distress Ink to add the watercolor background around the stamped image. I used the same color to color in the nose.

Then I've put it in a golden frame, added a green mini bell with a bow and also a few green Enamel Dots.

The saying says "magical christmas". It's heat embossed again and I used the paper with the mistletoe print again to mat it.

I also added a die cut star background, cut from golden glitter paper, and a die cut tree inbetween the layers and some green metallic thread underneath the saying.

Have a happy christmas time everyone!

A christmas card

Hello everyone!

Did you get some of the new Flower Harmony or Festive Bells papers yet? When I got them and looked through them a combination of papers for a winter-ish card immediately popped up in my head. And this is what I came up with:

The papers from the Flower Harmony collection are more summer-ish with their flowers. But I used two papers from this collection on my card. It's the blue one in the background. It has a print of small very light blue dots that reminded me of falling snow. And the more turquoise one with the wooden print is perfect for any occasion. I've cut it apart and saved the fowers that are printed to the edges for another card.

The green one with the mistletoe print is probably my favourite from the Festive Bells collection. I am not a fan of the traditional green and red combination for christmas cards - or of this color combo in general. But this paper is so beautiful and I knew I wanted to use it first. Combined with the blue it adds  some warmth to my icy-colored card.

I went with this vintage image that is one of my all time favourites for winter. It's been colored in with a combination of Copics and Polychromos, picking up the colors of the papers.

And here you get a look at all the papers I used. They all meet in this corner of the card.

For decorations I added a star shaped tag, some lace, a die cut word, a die cut lamp post, an also die cut circle of snowflakes, some flowers and a few white Enamel dots.

Have a happy day everyone!

A Halloween Card

Hello everyone!
It's October already - and that means Halloween is only a little away. I don't know if you celebrate this. We did when our kids were little since we live in an area with many Americans and our girls just loved it. Now they turned older and don't do the trick or treating anymore. But I still love to make Halloween projects. It's the time of year when I use color combinations I never use the rest of the year - and you can always go a little scary here. My project, that I am sharing with you today, isn't scary at all. It's a lollipop card:

To karta w kształcie lizaka:

You can write a few words on the back or just use it as a flower pick or Halloween decoration at your house.
Możesz napisać kilka słów na odwrocie lub po prostu użyć go jako ozdoba kwiatowa lub dekoracji Halloween w domu.

I used the Sunrise 06 paper sheet to cut the paper rosette that is used as the base of my card. I love this tone of purple since it isn't too dark. I inked up the edges a little with black ink.

Then I've put a circle cut from black cardstock and then another circle cut from one of the sheets from the Signs of Love paperpack. This has a beautiful pattern and the color changes from light to dark. So it goes great with the Halloween theme and still lets my images pop.

Potem położyłam okrąg wycięty z czarnej karteczki, a następnie kolejny okrąg wycięty z jednego z arkuszy z zestawu Sign of Love. Ma piękny wzór, a kolor zmienia się z lekkiego na ciemny. Więc świetnie gra z motywem Halloween i nadal pozwala moje obrazki były bardziej widoczne.

Then I decorated my card. I used a few die cut twigs and clouds, a saying printed with my Dymo and then added those two pumpkins and the bat.

To the paper straw, that I've put into the rosette, I've tied some black lace, a purple ribbon and a bow from orange and black twine.

Potem ozdobiłam moją kartkę. Użyłam kilku wyciętych gałązek i chmur, ściętego dyni, napisu drukowanego przy pomocy Dymo, a następnie dodałam te dwie dynie i nietoperza. Do słomki papierowej, którą wsadziłem do rozety, przymocowałem czarną koronkę, purpurową wstążkę i kokardkę z pomarańczowego i czarnego sznurka. Miłego dnia!

Have a happy day!

3D Door Card Tutorial

Hello everyone!
Every month we want to share a tutorial with you. It can be step-by-step pictures how a card or layout is made, instructions on how to make a special card or box or how to use special items to include them in your craft. I have desided to give you a tutorial for a 3D Door Card.

So, let's get started. Here's what you'll need:

*Papers with a wooden print measuring:
- 13,3 x 8 cm
- 13,5 x 7,2 cm (2 x)
- 3,3 x 4,6 cm
- 1,1 x 4,1 cm (2 x)
*some patterned paper for the back of your card
* a regular sized A5 card base
* glue, scissors, ruler, cutter and a small circle punch

First take the biggest piece of your wood printed paper and cut out 3 windows like shown on the picture. The frame all around is 1 cm wide, so is the area between the two smaller windows. The windows measure 4,7 x 6 cm and 2,5 x 5,5 cm. Of course these are just guidelines, you can change those after your taste or i. e. you have some dies about that size.

Next take one of the smaller papers and place the larger one on top of it, tracing the windows from your larger panel onto the smaller one. Then cut out those traced windows with a distance of about 3 mm on each side. So, here my windows are 4,1 x 5,4 cm and 1,9 x 4,9 cm. Again, feel free to change measurements slightly or use a matching die.

In case you've decided to change your measurements - here I have a picture of the small panels that will go into the windows of the smaller piece of paper. Here I have a distance of 4 mm on each side to the window.

Then glue both pieces on top of each other, keeping the distances in the windows even.

Turn around the two pieces glued together and add foam tape to the back of it. Then glue it to the second smaller panel that we didn't cut out any windows of.

Then add foam tape to the back of the small panels that go into the windows and glue those down centered as well.
The beautiful wooden prints from the Holy Mountain papers make this a really rustic and old looking door.

Now the main part of our door is done. What's left to do is add some decorations and details:

First I've cut some paper to create the house wall and glued it to my card base. Then I've glued the door on top of that.
To create the door knob I've punched a small label and and glued a punched out circle on top of it using foam tape again. The key hole is handdrewn.
And then I've added some decorations. Since we're heading into fall soon - I know, I'd so love to have summer for a few more months - I decided to make a fall-ish kind of door wreath.

Therefor I've die cut a few branches from brown cardstock, some leavy branches and single leaves from patterned paper and put it together to create my "wreath". Then I've added a bow and two banners with a saying to it.

This type of card takes some measuring, but it's definately worth it since you'll end up with a great 3D project that is still flat enough to fit into a regular envelope.

Hope you liked this tutorial and give this type of card a go.
Have a happy day,
Kathrin

And these are the papers I've used for my card:

A magic chocolat box

Hello everyone!
It's Kathrin here again and since you got to me know me a bit already you might have noticed that I love to make boxes or stuff for little things like chocolates etc. So, no surprise today - I made another chocolat gift:

It's a kind of small box, that holds an even smaller chocolat - but it has a little magic inside. But more about that later, let's first talk about the outside.

The box itself was made from white cardstock. Then I've covered it with the dotted side of the Ever and Always Pink paper. It just went great colorwise with the chocolat I have put inside.

There is a little tag used as the closure for my card. I've put a magnet inbetween the papers and another one under the designer's paper put on the box. Then I've decorated the closure with a die cut heart that I glued a button with a bow onto.

Since I didn't want to go with just one sort of paper I also used the Ever and Always Grey sheet for my box, this time using the side with the roses print. I've die cut an oval from it, added some white matting and a die cut word that says "chocolat". And again since it goes so great with my chocolat I also die cut two little strawberries and glued them onto the label.

And this is what I meant when I talked about a little magic being involved. There is a paper strip inside, that brings out the chocolat from inside the box when you open the flap. The strip is covered with the grey paper again.

To the inside of the lid I've added another saying ("chocolat makes happy") and another tiny strawberry - since there is some strawberry chocolat inside my box.

So, after watering your mouths with this post you can all go now and grab some chocolat, I'll do the same... ;)
Have a happy day everyone!

Hugs, Kathrin

A little giftbox

Hello everyone!
I just bought a small box of chocolats at a local chocolat manufacturer. It came in a nice little box, but it wasn't anything special. And I guess all we crafters will never be entirely happy with those premade boxes, no matter how cute they might be. So I made another box, to put the original box in. And this is what I want to share with you today.

The box itself is made from white cardstock. I covered the outside with the beautiful wood pattern side of the Body & Soul 03/04 paper. It has a soft pink-ish color with a little trend to red. Since the original box of chocolats was red, that was great to use with it. I also love the large roses printed on this paper that you can't acutally see on my project since the box is too small.
I wanted to add some more vibrant color and so I've die cut a heart from one of the papers from the Dreams Come True 6 x 6 paper pad. I love those papers with the lace/doilies printed on.
I also added a few flowers, cheesecloth, some ribbon and a banner with a saying "just for you".

I also used the same paper to cover the sides of the inner box with, just turning the paper around 90°. Now it looks like kind of a painted wooden box.

And this is the inside of the box. Here I used the Butterfly/Wearing Green sheet from the Foggy Dew Collection, having the green side shown. I took care when glueing the pieces to the box that I followed the pattern so you only have some thin white strips inbetween.
The original box is a darker red than it comes up on the picture. Don't know what my camera did here.
The box is closed by putting the cut out slid on the right side underneath the die cut heart on the outside, under which there is a small tower of stacked circles that go into the slid.
On the left side, there is  a birthday greeting.

Hope you liked my box and have a happy day!
Hugs, Kathrin

A wedding card

Hello everyone!
We're still in the middle of wedding season - and since I needed another wedding card, I made the one I am sharing with you here today. The invitation was made using pinks and grey so that's what I used for my card as well.

The card I made is a Z-Gate-Fold Tag Card. It is closed with a banderole.
All the papers I've used are from the Blue Rose paper pad - there are different pink sheets in this pad and of course they all go great together, with lighter and darker tones.

https://www.skarbnicapomyslow.pl/pl/p/AltairArt-Blue-Rose-bloczek-15x15-cm/6497

On the front I used this dotted one in a middle shade pink.

The wedding couple image is so cute - and since the bride and groom are kind of young, I thought this would fit great.
I've put a die cut frame underneath, added a few hearts and flowers.

On the inside, there are different panels, that I used different papers for. The ones that you can only see a part of on this picture are the panels that are seen when the card is closed. On the inside there are two more small panels and one wide one.

On the large part I used this beautiful paper with the rose print. It is again a darker shade of pink. I've added a saying here and a die cut laced pocket, that you can put some money into/behind.
The tab with the bow you can see on the top is attached to a plain square card, that goes into a pocket behind the doubled up main panel of the card.

And here are the inner small panels - both are made identically. I used a light pink paper here, put some die cut flower-ish lace onto it, added some lace and two die cut roses.

Here's wishing all of you a happy day!
Hugs,
Kathrin
