12 Kits of Occasions - Snow Day!

Hi and thanks for stopping by! It's the last day of the month and for me that means it's time to reveal what I made for The 12 Kits of Occasions! This month I'm the hostess with the mostest and I put together a snow day!

When selecting items for the kit I got to thinking about the magic of a snow day.. my own childhood racing down the big sled hill in the park, looking out the window for Suzy Snowflake, and nights when my own kids would go to bed with their clothes inside out. Did you know this is a ritual guaranteed to make snow fall and school be cancelled? Why does hot cocoa taste better when snow is falling? I still get that magical feeling watching snow fall, and when I leave the very first set of foot prints (or tire tracks) in a fresh blanket of snow.   I love watching the birds at the feeder - they're easy to spot in the snow!!  And finally why do I always LOSE MY GLOVES?
Here's a peek at the kit I put together.. stamped images from Pretty Pink Posh, Poppystamps, My Favorite Things, Neat and Tangled.. Snow & Cocoa Crate Paper, die cuts from Memory Box and more!

I invited a few friends to play too! I hope you'll stop by and say hi to them!

Cathy Weber - Empty Nest Crafter - an original member of "The 12 Kit's of Occasions" and the one who invited me to the group years ago has agreed to break her hiatus from paper crafting and join us this time!

Richard Breaks - That's MISTER Cardmaker to you! - I think he's absolutely fearless! Never afraid to alter and ink while I'm playing it safe! Richard's been my guest since my very first kit and I am so happy he keeps coming back for more!

And because we know the kit is more fun when YOU can play along too ... our lucky guest drawn from the comments on last month's post... Marcia Hill - Marcia's Stampin' Pad

Here's some cards I made with the kit!

It's the last day of the month!  You know what that means right?  We'll it's time for The 12 Kits of Occasions of course!  The 12 Kits is a group of 12 friends who all like to paper craft!  Each month we take turns providing the rest of the group with a "kit".  The  host chooses the theme and supplies.  Our hostess this month is Marybeth Lopez from Marybeth's Time for Paper

Look at the beautiful kit that Marybeth put together for us ! Beautiful fall color papers, stamped images, die cuts.. so many lovely things! Here's what I made!

I can't see a sequin without thinking of Marybeth!  This one is my tribute to her!
Want to see more designs created with Marybeth's beautiful kit?  Hop on over to our group page.. The 12 Kits of Occasions where you'll find a sample from each of the team members.  We're trying to keep the group interactive by giving you a chance to join us every month.  Have a beautiful day and watch out.. here comes October!

Pretty Little Studio Trick Or Treat

I'm seriously loving the Pretty Little Studio NEW Goosebumps Collection! It's everything you want for Halloween - orange and black with a twist of baby blue and navy! You'll find cats and bats, and everything that makes you shiver and get GOOSEBUMPS!
There's lots of embellishments available in this collection so you can select just the right images for your designs. I started my layout with the Trick Or Treat tag from the Ghost Town Die Cuts package. It takes center stage and all the other elements work around it. This tag is printed with just a sentiment. I added the Witch's Brew bat die cut with adhesive foam tape to add dimension.
The laboratory beaker die cut with the poison symbol is from the Spooktastic die cut pack.
I added a spray of stars and sequins bubbling up from the flask. The sequins add some shine and the stars add a magical element to the design.
To add a little weight to the design I added a black "happy halloween" sentiment from the Spellbound Cut Aparts sheet. The black brings balance to the design and grounds the tag so it doesn't look like it's floating.
Hoping you have the best Halloween ever!

RCSFYTT - Best Witches

I hope you're having a great day! It's the first of the month and that means new challenges to play! One of my favorites is the Reverse Confetti Sketch For You To Try.

I love a sketch challenge. The layout has been arranged and  you just need to figure out what stamp set to use.   I see the focal point as the orange box, and just about any stamp set can take center stage there.

I like creating seasonal designs for the challenge so I'm celebrating Halloween with the Best Witches stamp set on my layout today.

The fall papers are from the new Every Little Bit 6" paper pad that was released in September. It's got lots of yellow, orange and black patterns to choose from.
I layered the witch on a Stars Panel Confetti Cut leaving some of the stars in place. I decided to turn the bat into a little red devil. I added some accents with a white gel pen on the witch's hat and dress.
I slipped the sentiment on a white piece of card stock at the top of the design.
I sure hope you'll join us this month. You can find the challenge on the Reverse Confetti Blog by clicking on the challenge badge in the right margin. The design team has more creations to share made with this sketch to inspire you!

Simple Stories Faith Collection

Today I'm sharing some inspirational cards featuring the Simple Stories Faith Collection. This collection is a beautiful mix of florals and prints in bright colors with navy accents for lots of contrast.

The collection is appropriately named “Faith” because religious sentiments are mixed throughout the different elements available in the collection like this bible verse that you can find in the Bits and Pieces die cut pack. What a great way to encourage and inspire, or maybe just remind someone of how blessed they really are.
I thought these die cut plants were perfect with the sentiment – a reminder to have faith and trust in God. The butterfly to me represents “letting go” and letting Christ lead the way.

I added a strip of navy pattern paper under the pots to keep them grounded and added some yellow enamel dots for a sprinkle of extra color.

Sometimes we’re looking for answers, things happen in life that we don’t understand. It’s important to have faith.

This card started with pretty papers from the Faith Collection. For my focal point I added a 3x4” SN@P! Journaling card and topped it with some circles I cut from the 6x8 Paper Pad.
I added lots of embellishments like a pretty chipboard flower.

An epoxy metal clip and some enamel dots shine like candy!

This little butterfly is from the Combo Sticker that is in the 12” Collection or sold separately. I dusted it with baby powder to remove some of the tackiness before adhering it with adhesive foam tape for dimension.

All the different elements in this collection are beautifully coordinated to complement each other, making your projects a pleasure to create.

The Faith Collection from Simple Stories is a beautiful way celebrate and inspire the people who are blessings in your life!
