Vroom! Happy Father's Day!

Happy Father's Day!  I thought I'd make a special card for Dad featuring Pretty Little Studio Products. What could be more flattering than a "mini me"? This is Noah! He wants to be just like his Dad when he grows up! I miss the "good old days" when my kids always thought I was right, and would follow me around the house!
My card base is a cityscape paper from the Let's Go Travel Collection called Amsterdam. I thought Noah would look neat trucking around town in his fire truck!
This layout is really simple. I have the Noah die cut matted on a Birthday Cake Favors Shipping Tag. A Tab is peeking out the side of the tag with - I selected one from the Tahiti collection because it has a map on it - Noah probably wont want to stop and ask directions! LOL! The tabs are great for writing a simple sentiment or stamping.
The finishing touch is a sprinkle of stars from the Gold Treasure Confetti pack. The little die cut stars in the pack are double sided - I chose the bright yellow polka dots to go with the primary colors on my layout.
A big hug for all the great Dad's out there who do all they can to take care of their families! We love you!

TYIC#47 Butterfly Tag

Hi and thanks for stopping by!  It's time for a new Tag You're It Challenge and lucky me!  I'm the designer this time!  It's no secret that I love layers - sometimes it's all in the details.  That's why I wanted to show you some close ups of this tag so you can see it all.    The top half of this tag is embossed solid card stock, the bottom half is pattern paper.  Right down the middle there is a die cut scallop border - and to help define the separation of papers a strip of skinny MT washi.

Next for the embellishing.. some flags cut from different colors/prints peeking out from a solid die cut butterfly.  I added a sentiment on another flag shape to repeat the pattern, and lastly added some gems and pretty twine.   East right?  I hope you'll join me and the rest of the team at Tag You're It!  You have 2 weeks to play and I sure hope we'll see you there.   Just click here to jump to the blog to get all the details and see more samples from our amazing design team!

Oh Magnolia!

It's getting around that time of year that I start to think about traveling! The kids will be out of school soon, and the weather is perfect for a road trip. Living in the North we love the change of scenery that you can find in the Southern United States. I've seen Magnolias here in the Midwest, but nothing like the huge Magnolia trees you find in the South with flowers larger than your hand! When I see this Magnolia die cut my mind immediately embarks on a day dream to the South where the trees form a canopy over the street and Spanish Moss hangs from the branches.
I selected papers from the You & Me Collection in pinks to perfectly match the colors in the magnolia. In addition to repeating the pinks in my design I also repeated the heart pattern on the pattern paper with the Journaling Bookmark Card from the Adore Set. If you look close you can see rows of bitty hearts along the top edge. Do you see the little bits of Cambridge lace doily peeking out the edges? So feminine right? The 4" size is perfect for an A2 (4.25 x 5.5") size card.
I love using the Flag Strips for simple sentiments. Each pack contains 30 die cut flags in a variety of colors so you're sure to find one to match the colors of your project. I stamped the sentiment on this one, but you can just as easily hand write a personal message.
I wanted to show you a dimensional photo of this card - you can see that the base for the card is flat. I wrapped twine around the base before adding the magnolia with adhesive foam tape. This adds dimension to the card and allows the twine to sit neatly under the raised die cut.
I'm always looking for a pretty thank you for friends, but this one would make a lovely Mother's Day card too! The flower looked a little lonely by itself so I added the perfect little visitor.. a butterfly of course! The Butterfly Bush package contains over 60 die cut butterflies for you to choose from. I settled on this grey one.. the neutral color matches the background paper and completes the scene.
Thanks for stopping by! Have a beautiful day!!

Fusion Card Challenge - Lucky You!

Hi and thanks for stopping by! I hope you're having a great day! Wow! Can you believe it's March already? And not one, but TWO holidays this month! This week I think you're going to see lots of St. Patrick's Day! I'm not Irish, but that wont stop me from making corned beef, or drinking a few green beers. Well if the beer isn't green I promise the bottle will be!

Here's the latest challenge photo for Fusion Card Challenge! Remember if you don't want to be Irish that is ok.. follow the sketch. If you're feeling tricky try to combine the two.
I decided to replace all those rows of clover with a repeated quilt pattern. Thank you MISTI for making this possible! LOL I stamped three rows of the quilt pattern and filled them in with shades of green. Yes... three shades of green ink going on here. One for the stitched pattern, and two for inside the loops.
I thought that little banner that says "lucky" in the inspiratoin photo was so cute that I had to put a banner of my own across the top of the card. The Lucky word die really stands out in black. If you look close I made the clover inside the word die green. Inside the loops of the clover are gold. They look like little gold coins.

A few enamel dots and some Twinery twine - yes in more shades of green and color me happy!
I can't wait to see what you make! You can see more beautiful inspiration from the design team and get all the details here at Fusion Card Challenge!

12 Kits of Occasion - Watercolour Wonder

It's the last day of the month!  Yep.. things are a little tricky this year - 29 days in February since it's a Leap Year!  So confusing!!! LOL!!! But I'm so happy because it's time for my 12 Kits of Occasions reveal.  So what is the 12 Kits?  It's a group of 12 friends who love to design cards.  Every month we take turns providing a kit to the rest of the group.  We all get the same kit - and on the last day of the month we reveal what we made with the kit.  It's fun to see how some of our ideas are the same and others?  Well not so much!  LOL!  Sometimes I scratch my head and think ... "how'd they come up with that?!!"
The kit this month...   Amazing!!   Take a look.....
This kit was put together by one of our newest members Nancy Penir from Artful Notions Blog!  Nancy spared no expense with this kit.  She chose the theme "Watercolour Wonder" and provided everything needed to start splashing..  including watercolors, watercolor pencils, brushes, masking fluid and so much more.  The kit included images stamped on watercolor paper, die cuts, ribbon, gems, and even pattern paper and ribbon if you didn't feel like painting!

My tricky ingredients to look out for this time?  Let's see... the only things left from my kit?  The embellishments if you can believe that!  Look for wood and cork dots!

So where to start?  Gosh I made so many things.. YEP!  A new record for me... count 'em...  NINE!! YES!!! 9 cards!   So yes.. if you're wondering... I had a blast!
Had to show you a close up with the glittery frosting!
This little kraft tag was included in the wrapping of our wonderful kit!  I couldn't toss it - so a beautiful wedding tag to share!   Don't you love the glittery ribbon?

Ready to see more?  Here's a list of the 12 Kits of Occasions Design Team and we have a special guestie this month too Marcia Hill!

You can also visit our blog - The 12 Kits of Occasions - where you'll see a sample from each of the designer and find links to their blogs.  There is also a complete ingredient kit if you see something you must have!  LOL!

Have a great day and thanks for the visit!

Playing with Deco Foil at The Twinery Today!

Do you love your bling? Well you are in the right place this week. Deco Foil sent some of their Foil Transfer sheets to the Twinery Design Team to play with. I love trying a new product so I couldnt' refuse when I was asked if I wanted to play along. The team has already shown you how easy it is to use Deco Foil with your laser printer and laminator. But what if you're like me and you don't have a laser printer, or one that uses toner? What if you don't have a laminator? I wanted to think of a way to use the product without these items. While working out ideas at the craft store I found Deco Foil Transfer Adhesive. This is a thick glue that you can apply to just about everything - wood, metal, paper etc. I love wood veneer embellishments and wanted to see how well the foil would apply. The Transfer Adhesive has a fine point tip so you can apply it exactly where you want it - think accents or even writing a word.
I generously applied the adhesive to the veneer wood embellishment with a disposable paint brush. When it was dry I pressed the foil into the glue and it adhered beautifully. If you miss a spot you can always repeat the process to add more shine. Tip: For small embellishments like these bitty wood stars it helps to adhere them to a sheet of scrap paper before you treat them. This keeps them put - all in one place. They're easy to remove from the scrap paper later when you want to use them.
I love purple and gold together so some beautiful Orchid Twinery Twine is the perfect accent for my elegant birthday card!
Deco Foil and Twinery Twine make a great addition to your crafty stash - they're both an easy way to make just about everything look elegant and extra special!

The Card Concept - Sweetie Pie

SO how have you been?  I know.. I'm slacking right? Not really - I just got everyone's taxes done - that's 3 if you're counting!   While everyone is watching the Super Bowl I'm playing with Turbo Tax.  Why do they ask you for numbers from the year before when you used the same software the year before??  I guess they want to make sure I'm still paying attention!  LOL!  Glad it's done!  Just need to get everyone to look them over and sign!

Now for a little R&R for me!   Swoon!  Look at this eye candy from The Card Concept!  There is only 5 days left to play so you better get a move on!  Wow!  What's not to love here?  I want to just eat it up!

I was going for a vintage feminine look so I used pretty floral papers from Anna Griffin, and one of my favorite Waltzingmouse Stamp sets called Sweethearts!    Of course .. had to add a bit of lace - that pretty doily.  I cut it in half so it didn't take over.  I love how it peeks through the open heart frame I created with a the Stitched heart layers die set from Memory Box.

The "Sweetie Pie" sentiment always makes me think of my mom.  That's what my son used to call her when he was little.   It would always make her smile!
I have to have my bling!!  A gold heart and a few heart gems are enough to satisfy!
I hope you're playing!  You can link up and get all the details here at The Card Concept!
