Paper Sweeties September Inspiration Challenge #23 "Pretty Pumpkins"

Happy Labor Day!  I hope you have a great day planned - maybe meeting with friends and family for a cook out?  Today is my Mom's birthday!    I'm having her over for a dinner of her favorite - crab legs!!  And since that doesn't turn Dad on, he'll be having a steak LOL!  As long as every body's happy right?

A new challenge begins today at Paper Sweeties.  Check out this beautiful inspiration Debbie has for us today!!    If you are hopping along you should have reached me from Debbie Marcinkiewicz's blog.  If you want to get all the deets and start at the beginning you can start here - at the Paper Sweeties blog!   I focused on the pumpkins with the floral tops.  I cut a lace pumpkin die and inlaid it on patterned paper. I topped that with some silky ribbon and some paper flowers like the pumpkins in the photo.   The sentiment I used "The Splendor of Autumn" from the Paper Sweeties stamp set of the same name.   The shiny iridescent sequins are flower shaped and also from Paper Sweeties.

The next stop on the hop is Kerin Sylvester - we have  a special guest this month too Jill Norwood from Greenwood Girl Blog.  Jill has been so sweet to me - and is so talented.   I am so happy to see her hopping with us today and I know you're going to love what she made for today!

Paper Sweeties August Inspiration Challenge #22 - Let's Celebrate

Hi and thanks for stopping by!  Can you believe it's August already?  Time flies when you're having fun!  Summer's not over!  There is still time to play - but you better make it count!! A new challenge starts today at Paper Sweeties!  Another beautiful inspiration photo from Debbie, the owner and creator of Paper Sweeties.  I can't wait to see what she made for this one - it's a dreamy birthday party in pastel shades of pink blue and green.    I love playing along with the sketch challenge because I get to catch up with my friends, old and new on the Paper Sweeties Design Team.  It's always  a party with the alumni joining in!
I thought I'd try something different this time.  I played around with this one for a while to get if just right.  I stamped some balloons from the "Celebrate" set in soft pastel colors on white card stock.  Next I die cut a few strings of pennants and border cut the edge to let some pattern paper peek through - what an easy way to add some extra color to a stamped design.   Last I decked it out with some Paper Sweeties sequins - have you seen these yet?  They are super shiny and shaped like flowers!!
Want to see more here's links to all the designers with projects today!

Paper Sweeties July Inspiration Challenge #21 - 'Patriotic Prints'

Wow did July ever sneak up fast! I can't believe the 4th is this Friday!  I'm looking forward to staying up late and watching the fireworks.  My husband and son have both been working so hard it will be good to have them home so they can take a break. I hope the weather holds up for us too - it's been rainy for the past week here and puppy is not liking the wet grass - and forget the whole concept of having an umbrella held over her while she tries to find the perfect spot.

A new monthly challenge begins today at Paper Sweeties.   Check out the inspiration photo!    The pretty floral prints and patriotic colors are just perfect for summer.

I used two stamp sets to make my card - Happy Summer and Summer Fun!  The flower tree is from Happy Summer and is super easy to embellish with a big button or gem in the center.  The Summer Fun set features two labels and lots of sentiments.  I used the plaid label to stamp a bit of trim on my sentiment banner, and I snuck a red stamped plaid label under the oval die cut.
I'm loving all the wood embellishments you can find at most craft stores today.  This flower is from Little Yellow Bicycle and had a floral image on one side.  I flipped it over and stamped a bird and the branches from the Happy Summer Set.   I added lots of trims including some flower shaped sequins that I've only ever seen at Paper Sweeties.  They have a fun patriotic mix that includes three colors of sequins for only $3.
Ready for more patriotic summer inspiration from Paper Sweeties?  Hop along with the current and alumni design team every month.  There is also a special guestie this month - Bethie Johnson!  I hope you stop by and tell her hi!

Paper Sweeties Inspiration #20 Princess Party

Thanks for stopping by and Welcome June!  I think that means it's officially Summer!    I know the calendar won't agree, but hey... the kids are out of school, the sun is shining, and the pool is officially OPEN!   Sounds perfect right?  Everything I expect Summer to be!

On the first of every month Paper Sweeties hosts a new challenge.    The design team is joined by the alumni (previous dt members) to provide inspiration.  It's a fun time seeing what everyone makes and there's always lots of pretty things to see!   It's also a good way to add a few stamp sets to your collection if you're the lucky winner!!   I really enjoy seeing what my old teamies are up to!

This month the theme is Princess Party.   You can work with the photo or the colors - or yes, even both for your Princess Party project.  I  made a card featuring Emma as a pretty princess from head to toe.  How do you like those little shoes with the bows?   I added lots of bling - fit for princess royalty!  Isn't she adorable?

Paper Sweeties May Inspiration Challenge #18 Cupcakes & Sprinkles

I'm having another day with lots of new stuff and - yep!  three posts!  So I hope you stick around a bit!  A new challenge begins today at Paper Sweeties. This one is close to my heart because even though I'm no longer on the current DT for Paper Sweeties I still get to come back and play with my friends. All the DT alumni are always invited and it's a great chance for me to "catch up" and see what they've been up to!

Here's the inspiration photo for this time. What a great challenge to use some of the latest stamps that feature cup cakes and other sweets. I went back to a few older sets for mine.  The tea party themed sets are some of my all time favorites.  I dressed up Abigail with a paper pieced dress.  I added lots of little embellishments too, some 1/4" satin ribbon for her sash, flower sequins (that I've only seen at Paper Sweeties), and a paper rose on her hat.   That berry cake she's holding looks scrumptious too!   The details really go a long way
when you're working with these sweet doll images.

Paper Sweeties April Inspiration Challenge #18 - Sweet Treats

Happy April and Welcome SPRING!!  It's the beginning of a new month. That means a new challenge starts today at Paper Sweeties.   Yep!  You get a whole month to play!    We love seeing the projects you create with your Paper Sweeties stamps, and who knows?  You might just win a few more sets to play with!  Just link up your projects here!    There are always lots of projects to see for the challenges because the current design team as well as the alumni all make projects.  For me it's a chance to reconnect with friends and see what they've been up to.
Look at this great inspiration photo this month!  Did you know that Paper Sweeties has paper straws in their inventory?  They're not just for drinking from!  I added a few to my card below!  To get them nice and flat I placed them between the plates for my die cut machine and ran them through.   Success!  Super flat and ready to glue in place.  Paper Sweeties also recently added sequins to the store.  They're not your usual sequins.  These sequins are very shiny and flower shaped.  They are a little thicker than regular sequins and stand up a little higher too.    You can see them better in the close up at the top of the page.
Want to see more projects?  Here's a list of all the designers with projects for the latest challenge.

Paper Sweeties Inspiration Challenge #17 - Polka Dot Love

Can you believe it's March already?  The weather here is still very cold, but at least the sun is shining and the grey skies seem to be gone.  The beginning of the month marks a new challenge at Paper Sweeties.  Check out this beautiful inspiration photo Debbie picked for you to play with this month.   It looks like Spring doesn't it?  I love the soft pastel colors, and the nest with the soft blue eggs.   You can work with the design or the color, or both - just work with what inspires you.  I was completely smitten with the polka dot rain boots and that's what got me thinking about a set I haven't used in a while - "Spring is Here".
I stamped Sophie with Memento Ink so my Copic markers wouldn't smear.  I die cut her with an oval shape.  Next I stamped her outfit on patterned paper, fussy cut it,  and glued it on top of the stamped image of Sophie.  I colored her pockets, and glued a little rose on her hat to cover a bit of the stamped bow that was showing.   I finished with layers of paper and trim and a fancy bow.  I love that sweet sentiment !  Seriously what's a girl to do?!  You just have to keep your sunny side up right?

Paper Sweeties February Inspiration Challenge #16 - "Be Mine"

Happy February!  Today  begins a new challenge at Paper Sweeties. To celebrate the design team and alumni have a blog hop to kick things off. It's a great way to  have some fun with your Paper Sweeties stamps and just maybe win a few more sets!  You can get all the details and link up  your creations here.

Here's the inspiration photo for this month.  You can use the photo or the colors as your inspiration.  I wanted to make a Valentine with lots of bright fresh color.  The sentiment is from  "So Sweet of You".  It has a larger size sentiment that  I knew would look perfect here.
Here's a list of all the designers participating in the hop today - just click on their name to jump to their blog.
