Destination: Versailles | from SCT Magazine Summer issue

Hi friends! I created this 12x12 double pocket page for the Summer issue of Scrapbook & Cards Today Magazine (which you can download for free HERE) and I can now share it with you.
Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzill Basics; Patterned paper, die-cuts, stickers: Heidi Swapp; Enamel Dots, twine: Doodlebug Design; Letter stickers: American Crafts; Washi tape: Doodlebug Design, Heidi Swapp

I chose the beautiful Heidi Swapp Storyline Chapters collection to go with my photos from our visit of the gardens of the Chateau de Versailles a few Summers ago. Its soft colors and vintage touches were perfect to me.
I also added a few gold elements (alphabet thickers, washi tape, diecuts) to bring out the gold from the buildings and gates. I love the rather classy and classic result.
A little bit of twine and enamel dots add texture and contrast.

With no trips planned anytime soon, I am glad to still have photos from previous vacations to scrap!

Finally, if you like to hold your magazines in your hand, I can not recommend a subscription to SCT Magazine enough! It is a beautiful, quality publication that will provide you with tons of inspiration. Look for the Fall issue on September 18.

Make a splash

Happy Friday! I am very excited because today I am on the Imaginisce blog sharing my very first project as a  Design Team member! I have been playing with the brand new "Par-r-rty Me Hearty" collection and it inspired me to create a (rare) double pager!

We have been going to Legoland California for years and the pirate theme of the collection was perfect for one of the rides called Splash Battle:

This is not the first time that I combine a regular layout with a "faux" pocket page and I just love this combination! The left side is a classic design created on patterned paper and the right side is designed like a pocket page but without the special page protector. I simply adhere my photos and homemade cards on a 12x12 cardstock.

I had a lot of fun with the die-cuts and the cut-ups from the "Par-r-rty" sheet of paper and since the ride is called Splash Battle I used one of the paper strips from the bottom of a patterned paper as my title.
I also added paint splashes in several areas and as I always enjoy adding a bit of sewing on my pages, I sewed the pennants (also from the "Par-r-rty" paper).

For the right side of my double pager, I created three 3x4 cards where I layered different embellishments with adhesive foam.

I love this combination because it allows me to use many photos (I have 8 here including five 4x6!) without it looking  overcrowded.
Thank you for stopping by!

Supplies:
Imaginisce: patterned papers, die-cuts, stickers, puffy stickers (Parrrty Me Hearty). American Crafts: card stock

Meet me in Chinatown

Happy Friday my friends! I am very much looking forward to the weekend: a baby shower, a night hike and a soccer game... oh and some form of scrapping too of course :) How about you?

Today I'd love to share a new double pager in one of my favorite formats: a traditional layout paired with a "fake" pocket page:

Both are created with the September "Skinny Love" kit and add-on from Scraptastic Club. The left page is based on the current sketch challenge over on the Scraptastic Facebook page (also see sketch below):

I used a lot of lovely elements from the Crate Paper Wonder ephemera pack as well as the cutest puffy stickers from Pink Fresh Studios:

Before I go, here is a look at the sketch from Sketch Savvy on which the left page was based:

I hope to have inspired you in some way. As always, if you have any question, feel free to ask them in the comments. Have a lovely weekend!

7 Years of costumes... on a double pager

My youngest just announced to us that he was done with wearing costumes for Halloween and going trick or treating... that prompted me to reminisce fondly over the last seven years, especially since all of them except the first one were homemade...

Here he is at each Halloween school parades from Kindergarten until 6th grade. Of course, it needed a double pager! :) The supplies come from the Scraptastic Club Thriller kit and add-on (+ the green alphas are from my stash).

Hopefully he will still be game for pumpkin carving...

Layout + "fake" pocket page = my favorite double pagers

This is not the first time that I combine a regular layout with a "fake" pocket style page but one thing's for sure, I LOVE this combo!

Supplies: Scraptastic Club "Mr. Big Stuff" main kit, add-on and stamp set. Blue sequins from my stash.

The left side, below, is based on a sketch by DT member Susan Stringfellow and will be revealed next week on the Scraptastic blog for our "Sketchy Thursday" challenge:
Le côté gauche, çi-dessous, est basé sur un sketch de Susan Stringfellow qui sera publié le 27 sur le blog de Scraptastic pour le prochain challenge "Sketchy Thursday":

If you have not tried this format yet, I highly encourage you and, if you need help or have any question, feel free to let me know in the comments!

A bientôt!

The Baltimore Aquarium: a rare double pager

Hello there! I am excited to share a rare double pager with you today. It was created with the Scraptastic Club We Are Family main kit and add-on (available here and here) and based on a sketch from Pamela's World of Scrap (see below):
Bonjour!

some details:
We visited the Baltimore Aquarium last winter and my youngest had taken over my DSLR to take tons of pictures. The colors in this kit were perfect for them and the sketch from Pamela allowed me to include his best shots.

Even though I don't make them often, I always like the look of double pagers :) Did you make one lately? I'd love to see it!

A bientôt!

Universal Studios: regular layout+pocket page = ♥

I have a post today on the Scraptastic Club blog sharing an up and coming way of documenting events. You can read all about it here.

As you know I am not a Project Lifer but I have been playing with the concept while creating my Month in Numbers pages. After finding more and more PL variations online, I decided to document an event with both a traditional layout and a pocket page layout.

First I did the traditional layout:

Supplies: Out on the Town main kit, washi tape and date stamp from my stash

Then I built my pocket page:
Supplies: Out on the Town main kit, Out on the Town flair set and stamp set, washi and paper clip from my stash

Put together, they look like this:
Let me just say, I LOVE this new way of documenting an event! If you haven't yet, try it! I have listed the many reasons/advantages on the Scraptastic blog but one thing is certain: I will be doing it again! :)

Wishing you a creative week!

My Month In Numbers for April 2013

I know it is almost the end of May but since I started designing pages for my numbers (rather than just writing blog posts), it takes me a bit more time to get it done! Here are my numbers for April. You can see my February spread here and the March one here.

(Click on the photos if you wish to enlarge them)

and some close ups:
Supplies: After the Storm kit from Scraptastic Club, several stamp sets also from Scraptastic Club, white alphas and watercolors from my stash

The Month in Number blog même was created by the talented Julie Kirk of Notes on Paper and you can see many more interpretations on My Month in Numbers Pinterest board

Lastly, I am sharing these pages on the Scraptastic Club blog today and it is accompanied with a guessing game and a RAK. If you'd like to play along, go check it out here.

Cheers and happy 70th birthday to my Dad!!! ♥

My Month in Numbers: February 2013

I am doing good on my 2013 plan of summarizing my months in numbers like Julie from Notes on Paper and many others... BUT I did even better for February and it's a first...drumroll.... I made a page with them!!! A double pager actually! See for yourself:

Even though I am not a Project Lifer (and will probably never be!), I had a ton of fun making this spread "à la Project Life" with my brand new Mr. Brightside Scraptastic Club kit. I learned a few things in the process and you can read more about that by reading my post here on the Scraptastic blog.

Now here's a close up of the left page:

and of the right page:

Hopefully you can read most of them if you care to (even though I blurred parts for privacy reason) and you didn't see the two spelling mistakes I discovered after taking the photos!

Have a great week! And I'll be coming around to check your numbers ;)

A day on the French Riviera... + a quick tutorial

I am back as promised to share a double-pager created with the August kit The Story Begins from Scraptastic Club. I rarely make 2-page layouts, but I always love them when I look through my albums! So, since I wanted to use almost all the photos from this special day during our last vacation in France, I found a sketch by Becky Fleck and went to work:

I love the fact that Scraptastic Club includes two sheets of each cardstock colors in their kits, it is what prompted me to create a double pager in the first place!
***
I also created this short tutorial to go with it for the Scraptastic Club blog:

How to create a mat for a double pager with just one sheet of patterned paper: Often times, even if I had two sheets of cardstock for my background, I got stuck because I wanted to mat my photos with patterned paper of which I only had one page but I figured out a trick. See on my layout above, it looks like I used two sheets of the green Echo Park paper and possibly two sheets of pink cardstock when I actually used a partial one of each.
And by the way, this tip can also help you save paper when creating single page layouts.
First, I cut 1 1/2" strips of the paper of my choice (6 strips) and 1/4" strips of pink cardstock:
then I adhered the pink cardstock at the border of the patterned paper:
then I set them up around my pages exactly where I wanted them:
now you can use a bit of temporary adhesive or being extra careful, move them off your background and place a ruler going from one corner to the next as shown here:
cut through the layers and replace on your page, lining everything nicely before adhering:
Please note that I do not recommend choosing a patterned paper that goes in a certain direction as it would be very hard or impossible to line it up seamlessly.
Thank you for stopping by! Feel free to ask questions if you have any!
