Ouch! Ooh! Aah!

Hi, good morning and welcome to the blog today.
You may wonder at the title I've used but it really says it all. I spent yesterday morning in the garden weeding and then up to lunch time sweeping up Royal Avenue (my name for our massive patio). Everything aches and now after a patchy night's sleep I'm half asleep into the bargain. LOL
Now I'm asking myself if it wasn't a little easier mowing the lawn we have just covered after all!!

My daughter called after lunch with wee Edie - or not so wee Edie anymore. She must be at least 11 pounds now. She is a treasure and her smiles light up her whole face. We had a great chat together and the boys were thrilled to bits that she was there when they got home from school. When Edie is about there is no need for television - the boys are mesmerised by every move she makes. Result!! :) LOL

On to today's card.
I was still in my lavender/purple mode when I made this a wee while ago.
I just love that frame die - it's gorgeous!
Tonic Twined Lily square die set; Tent box die; Petal pairs for the flowers and Frond Finesse
WRMK corner chomper
Ribbon from Beads4Crafts

A sideways view

The card insert - I've used the corner die from the Twined Lily set for the decoration and the letters from the Mum in the Family Members die set

I'm off to have a quick cup of coffee and sit out on the patio.
I've still to buy the garden furniture and new pots and plants but that will have to wait for another day.
The furniture I had my eye on sold out and they don't re-order so I might have to wait until next year for that. Like I said yesterday, patience is a virtue! :)

Have a super day whatever your plans.

Nikki in the snow

Hi there! Good morning and welcome to the blog today.
Did you see the Crafter's Companion Die'Sire shows yesterday? I have to admit I had to sit on my hands and try not to order anything. I loved the snowflake and ivy dies and if my hands ever recover enough, I may yet nab them. :)

Onto today's card. I've used 'Nikki' from Saturated Canary and I was determined to clamber out of my comfort zone as regards colours and went for blue and shocking pink.
Now this is all very well if you have the papers sorted before you start. Needless to say I didn't. After much searching I found some WeRMemoryKeepers 'White Out' papers that I bought quite a while ago that I thought would tone with the colours I had used.

Image - Nikki - Saturated Canary
Papers - White Out - WRMemoryKeepers
Spellbinder snowflake dies
Sentiment - Craftwork cards
Tumbled glass distress ink
Cheesecloth

The image is coloured with Promarkers
Skin - Soft peach, oatmeal, blush, baby pink
Blues - Cadet blue, Celestial blue, glacier blue (FM's)
Pinks - Pink lobster, Shocking Pink (FM), Sorbet (FM)
Hair - Umber, Burnt sienna, caramel, sandstone, daffodil bloom
Shoes - Ice Grey 5, 3, 1
Eyes - Olive, pear, lime green

A sideways view to show the layering

Now a wee word of warning if you don't want your image to age by decades! I inked round the image with the tumbled glass ink and thought it would be a good idea to lightly spritz it with water for a snowy effect. I succeeded in wrinkling the paper despite a very quick dab with kitchen towel and my wee Nikki aged before my eyes. Fortunately she dried out reasonably well and recovered her youthful appearance but it was a close call! :)

Thanks for popping in today. I hope it's a good one.
See you soon!

Colour Create Challenge #96

Here we are with another Colour Create challenge and it's my turn to host the challenge this time. I've a feeling that this will be a challenge as the colours are quite an unusual mix so I'm excited to see what everyone comes up with. :)
Here's the inspiration photo

Now I would like to see green, brown, white and a wee touch of lavender with the optional extra of a metal embellishment. Are you up for it? Use any tones you like of the colours.
If you need more inspiration nip over to the Colour Create Challenge blog and see what the DT made of this combo!
Here are two cards that I made - one feminine and one masculine.
I've used a D'Arcy digi image - 041
 Crate Papers - Samantha
WRMK designer grommit
Nellie's Choice flower punch
X Cut birch leaf punch
Memory Box swirl die
Flat lace from stash
The image is coloured with Promarkers and Prisma pencils

Now onto a 'man's' card
I've made a more graphic card this time using my new 'favourite' die - Die-Namics fish tails
Card stock is brown, lime green and lilac from the Papermill
The designer grommit is from WRMK
Sentiment is from a Forever Friends set
Gem from stash
The inside has been simply decorated with matching cardstock

Now it's over to you. Have fun with it!
