'Reddy', steady - Decoupage!

Hi and welcome to Thursday morning on the blog.
Here are two more (the last I'll be showing) of the gorgeous decoupage coming shortly to Crafter's Companion.

This first card is ultra simple. I used a 6 x 6" Embossalicious folder called 'Regal Corner' for this card and teamed it with this luscious red rose decoupage.
I embossed directly onto the card front and used the corner to frame the rose.

To finish the card I glittered the raised portion of the embossing with a Quickie glue pen and crystal glitter (Art Institute).

The second card features one of the 6" square cards from Franz Heigl.
These card come complete with a printed image and pre-embossed edge and are so easy to make up.
This time just for a wee change, I die cut the centre of the card and left the embossed frame. I matted the centre onto a scallop edged nestie in toning card stock (Core'dinations Chocolate Box) and attached it to the inside of the card centrally so that it was framed by the aperture.

I reinforced the frame with card stock so that it wouldn't buckle and completed the card with some of the decoupage and a few red gems.

These cards were a pleasure to make and so simple to do. If it has to be decoupage, it has to be die cut - at least for me. It's so much easier on the wrists!
I hope you have enjoyed this series of cards as much as I enjoyed making them.

See you tomorrow with another Molly Bloom!
Have a great day!

Flowers and bleach!

LOL! No flowers were harmed in the production of this card. :)
I had the pleasure of working with some beautiful decoupage this week. Now decoupage is not my first love but I don't mind it in the least if it's already die cut and these sheets are beautifully produced by Reddy.
You will find them at Crafter's Companion from 5th October.
I had a ball making this card as I was determined to use one of my new Embossalicious folders for each of my samples. This one is called 'Regal Swirl' and is an 8 x 8" folder. Deep joy - one sheet embossed crisply and cleanly in one pass of the machine!

When I received my folders I just had to emboss lots of papers and this brown linen textured sheet was in my stash. It looked a million dollars when embossed but then I went on a bleaching spree and painted the raised pattern with bleach. Out popped this gorgeous burnt orange and I just knew it would be a perfect background for the peach roses. I deliberately trailed and spotted the sheet with the bleach to add more interest to the background. I was on my gad as you can see!

I didn't have a background card stock colour that quite hit the spot so I cut some 160 gsm plain white card and inked it with tea dye distress ink. I did the same with ivory seam binding and coloured it to match.

You can see the lovely depth of the decoupage in this pic.

I've lots more to show you so pop in tomorrow for a quite different type of flower image.
Thank you for calling in today.
If you are on Facebook, join in with the competition on the Crafter's Companion page and you could win enough pen storage for 72 pens!!!!

Just a quick PS. Bernice asked me about the bleach I used. You should use the cheapest, thinnest bleach you can find for this technique but I only had Domestos. I put a blob onto my craft mat and applied it with an old water brush that I keep for the purpose. You should also work in a well ventilated room as the fumes are unpleasant at best. I did have a whopping headache when I'd finished - that'll teach me!
The card was left sitting on my craft table for a couple of days before I posted it and the pong wears off very quickly. I didn't notice any 'smell' at all. :)
