Good morning and welcome to the blog today.
It's time for a new launch from Tonic Studios and we are celebrating a very stylish period that flourished after the First World War in the form of Art Deco.
I've used one of the most iconic Art Deco shapes of the period for my card today.
Tonic - Art Deco Collectables
Sentiment topper
Crystal Drops - bright gold
Embossing folder - Sue Wilson Art Deco Fanfare
Patterned Paper - MNine designs
Black card stock - Hunkydory Adorable Scorable
A sideways view to show the dimension
I'm sure you are going to love these gorgeous dies. Look out for more inspiration on Tonic Gold, the Tonic blog and Tonic's FB page.
Have a super day!
I made the card shape from an old template I had downloaded years ago. It certainly came in handy for this sample! :) My daughter's wedding was themed around Art Deco so it was a shape we considered for her invites. Happily she decided to go a different route or I would have been cutting out these shapes in my sleep!
After a bit of searching I found the link to the template HERE. Just scroll down the post and it's at the bottom.
I have been asked how I put this card together
I trimmed the template to 8" tall. It works out about 8" wide as well.
Cut the template shape from black card stock - I used Hunkydory Adorable Scorable for mine
I made a support for the card front 6.75 x 10" also using the Hunkydory AS card stock
Score on the long side at 5" and fold in half
I cut the decorative die cuts from black and matt gold card stock I found in my stash but you can use any colour scheme you prefer.
Using my template I cut the decorative papers to fit, embossed the centre panel with the Deco fanfare folder and adhered them to the front panel using my Tacky glue from Tonic.
The centre die cut was backed with matching embossed card stock and 3D'd to the front panel.
The sentiment was taken from my Tonic toppers
I matted it onto rectangles and punched out the corners to form a label shape but the new Deco Geometric layering dies would also be fab to use. I then 3D'd that to the centre die cut for a little more dimension.
When I had completed the decorative card front I adhered it to the folded piece to form the finished card.
I added some Crystal Drops in Bright Gold to embellish.
