Sad news

Hello and welcome to the blog today.

It's taken a few days to start to process the new turn of events in our lives. I didn't feel able to post about it before but after a spell in hospital with an infection my darling husband passed away on 23rd October having contracted Covid with pnemonia complications whilst there.

He was all in all to me, my best friend, father to my children, brother in Christ. He was a man in a million who lived his faith, loved his family and worked hard to provide for us.

The many prayers of my friends and family are what are keeping me going at the minute, though his loss will be an enormous gap in my life that will never be filled.

Goodbye my darling man. All struggles are at an end and you are with the Saviour you loved.

Psalm 17 v 15

Thank you for 50 wonderful years. 💕

Yuletide Harmony blanket

Hello and welcome to the blog today.

I'm really late posting this version of the Harmony blanket as it was completed over a week ago but better late than never!

I adore the rich tones in this Yuletide version, it's meant for the Christmas season yet could be used all year long.

The Harmony pattern can be found on the Attic 24 site, just check the left hand side links, you may have to scroll down a bit!

The Yuletide colours can be purchased from the Wool Warehouse HERE and the colour sequence can be found on the Hooked on Attic 24 FB page under Files.

I've used my favourite border (Summer Harmony blanket on the Attic 24 site) again. It takes quite a bit of time but I think it really adds to the finished product.

This one is to be gifted as a Christmas present but part of me would love to hold onto it. LOL 😄

I'm more than halfway through the Wood Anemone colour blanket and loving it. I think each one I do I like so it will be hard to part with them.

I am thrilled to say that my craft room is taking shape. I'm in a box room so it really curtails the amount of stash I will be able to accomodate but at last after so long I can imagine a few hours playing with my beloved bits and pieces again.

My deepest condolences and sympathies go to our Royal Family on the sad passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II last Thursday.
The days have been filled with tributes and memories for a life well lived and of unsurpassed devotion to duty.
She was a woman of deep faith and has gone to be with her Saviour and Lord. We will mourn her loss but rejoice for the time she was with us.
We enter a new era with a new King, we are part of history in the true sense of the word.
I wish him well for the future and for his new role.

God Bless,

Time to catch up

Hello and welcome to the blog today.

I waited until I completed my Harbour Harmony blanket before sharing this month's projects.

I've made quite a few of these Harmony blankets now and still have three more in the wings. I'm working on a Yuletide Harmony at the moment for a Christmas present, so I need to get it done and dusted.

There are so many projects that I want to do that I can't crochet fast enough!

The pattern for the Harmony can be found on the Attic24 website, the colour variations are on the Hooked on Attic 24 FB page in the file section.
I'm indepted to Martina for the colour scheme on this one using the fabulous Harbour blanket pack available from the Wool Warehouse

This is a close up of the border detail. I'm in love. I think it's my favourite border design yet and can be found on the Attic 24 website under Summer Harmony blanket. All the blanket designs by Lucy can be found on her web page in the left hand column and full pictorial tutorials are there with clear instructions for all to follow.

My second project was discovered on the Crochet Swirl web site. I loved the colour scheme as soon as I saw it and just had to make the blanket.
It's called the October Granny Squares throw and I just got it completed in time for Granny Square Day! I'd never heard of that before but came across it in several posts on FB so that led to loads of granny square ideas to keep in mind for future projects.

My third project was as simple as I could make it.
I was dying to try out my Hobbi MegaBall yarns which are 100% acrylic so no surprises there. I wanted to see how they handled, worked up and how they washed so I did a simple griddle stitch baby blanket that I can add to my donation pile.

I had no issues with the yarn, it didn't split, the stitch definition was good and it washed well at 30 degrees.
I managed to get them all out on the line on the only dry and sunny day we had last week so now it's onwards and upwards.

This was my Megaball haul, I've popped a normal sized 100g ball on top to show just how big these are.
I think they will keep me going for loads of baby blankets for the future. 😄

Well that's me for today.

Thank you for popping in.

Take care and God Bless.

Richelle's Harmony Blanket

Hello and welcome to the blog today.

I have completed my latest version of the Attic 24 Harmony blanket. This one is called Richelle's Harmony and details of yarn, colour way etc are available on the Hooked on Attic 24 FB page in the Files section.
This is the fifth Aria/Harmony so I thought I would vary it a little by using the Fat Flowers pattern by David Abel also available from the same source.

I was quite tired when I added the last row of the blanket and ended up adding it to the wrong side, so instead of a 10 x 10 square I had a 9 x 11 rectangle!

When I noticed my error I decided to leave it as I had sewn in all the ends and it would have been murder to undo them all!
I adjusted the sixth rows on the final few to hopefully blend them in with the colour wash but in any case I don't think it spoils the overall look.
I'll be a bit more careful with my next one!

A wee close up of the pattern

I'm not a huge fan of purple but I loved the vibrancy of this colour way and it's a firm favourite with hubby so that's good enough for me.

I did a ten row mixed stitch border DC's, HTR's and SC's just as the mood struck me. I always finish with a row of slip stitch to give a good firm edge.

So it's onwards and upwards. I'm now embarking on the Harbour Harmony. The colours are fabulous and I'm really enjoying it.

I'll check in again soon.

Thank you so much for joining me today and keeping me company on my crochet journey.
I don't do complicated so hopefully the lovely varied colours will hold enough interest to make a visit worth while.

Take care, enjoy the good weather and happy crafting.

God Bless,

Harmony Blanket in the Moorland colour way

Hello and welcome to the blog today.

I've been busy again this time with the Harmony blanket pattern (Attic 24) but this time using the Moorland colour pack.
I loved doing this one and was so reluctant to let it go that I made a ten row border. LOL

The colours evoked a moorland scene with heathers and wild flowers, a scene often encountered when I was able to walk in the Mourne hills and relax in the glorious views.

The Harmony pattern is on the Attic 24 blog and the colour scheme (Moorland) is available on the FB page 'Hooked on Attic 24' in the files section.

I've started another Harmony in Richelle's colours (also in the FB files) and I'm looking forward to having that completed in a couple of weeks.

I hope you are enjoying the sunshine safely.
We are having a sunny day here for once, this past week has had a lot of rain and cloud.
I was able to sit out under the shade of a large parasol in the back garden for a while today but even with that it got a wee bit too hot for me.

Take care. It isn't a regular feature of our weather to have such high temperatures so keep an eye on those elderly neighbours and relatives and a careful eye on pets too!

God Bless

Aria Blanket in Meadow colour way

Hello and welcome to the blog today.

I totally forgot to post my latest project here. I did post it on FB so assumed I had blogged it too.

I took a quick pic as soon as it was completed but it needed washed and blocked to look it's best.

I wasn't all that struck on the colours as I made it but when I saw it all spread out and the colour wash was clearer, I was delighted with it.

There are 144 squares in this one and lots and lots of ends to sew in but I make it a habit to sew them in as I go otherwise I wouldn't ever get them done.

The full instructions are on the Attic 24 blog for the Aria blanket and the colour scheme can be found on the Hooked on Attic 24 FB page. You will have to join to locate it but it's a lovely group and so inspirational.

Thank you for calling in today.

I'm halfway through another blanket with lots of squares!
It's the Harmony blanket in the Moorland colour way.
Hopefully it won't be too long before I can get it posted. I'm loving the colours in this one.

Take care and God Bless.

A sight for sore eyes!

Hello and welcome to the blog today.

We had a bit of sunshine over the weekend, sad to say it's gone today but I made the most of it.
My lovely SIL installed my whirly line on Saturday and I couldn't wait to get my blankets washed and fluttering in the breeze.

The large one on the front is the Ophelia Talks 'Picnic blanket'. It was a joy to make and through it I learned (eventually) how to JAYG. What a fabulous technique and it came in pretty handy for the other two blankets!

The one in the middle is a version of the Attic 24 Harmony blanket in the Sweet Pea pack colours and the right hand side one is the Attic 24 Aria blanket. I love them all!

I'm now making an Aria in the Meadow pack colours which is a tad more subdued. LOL

I hope they brighten your day, they certainly brightened mine.

Take care, God Bless, see you soon!
