So, it’s been a while since I played along with the Prima BAP, but the July sketch by Marie-Nicolas Alliot was so inspiring so I played happily along :)

ania_primabox2

Along with a bunch of my Prima scraps and flowers, I also added some of my fave Maya Road pins..

ania_primabox3

As well as some red paper twine cording (also Maya Road), and this time I also decided to add decorations along the sides…The Ingrid Bolme resin well was colored with ink, also by Ingrid Bolme. Love these, they’re my fave chalk inks atm…

Feels like I’ve been scrapping and creating with graphic papers only lately, so it was fun to go a bit romantic-ish again :)

So. When realizing there still were time to join the Prima 12 days of Christmas Cards challenge I figured why not – I need to create a couple boxes anyways. I picked Leslie Ashe’s card, boggled for like three minutes then off I went.

primabox2

Seriously. Once I figured how I’d like the boxes (love my Scor-Pal!) & which main papers to use, it only took me like 15 minutes to pull together the focal point of this box. And yeah, once again I’m late joining the trends – I’ve only recently (like, last week) started thinking hey, this feather thingie? Awesome!

All the paper’s from the Melody collection – love, love that one…unfortunately my stash of papers from this collection is dwindling! A pair of leaves, a large flower as focal point, some bling bling and smaller flowers and voila. Hmm. Might stick some more smaller flowers in between here and there, hmm….ahwell. Tomorrow I’ll fill this box with homemade chocolate nuggets :)

The twine’s from Maya Road, by the way.

Right. Bed then work this weekend! got a couple of projects I have to work on as well, whee..

~~ Prima’s 12 days of Christmas–day 9 ~~

primaday9a

Prima’s doing a 12 days of Christmas card inspo thingie. I needed to create a number of cards real quick, so I figured I’d check in on Prima for some quick inspo…picked a card by Gerry van Gent (day 9) & created a card inspired by hers :) The card is for a newborn baby by the way…need to send off the pressie asap, so am really glad I finally got around to get the card made..am soo behind on stuff! :/

primaday9b

The card itself is created by a 12x7” strip, folded so it’d make a 5x7” card..the patterned paper is quite “blocked”/covered in blocked sections..I think it makes the card more interesting when cutting the paper so the different blocks are evident in the paper..hard to explain, you gotta see the paper/card itself I suppose…

Right. A few days of blindness & more days of being severly impaired by a pair of glasses is no good for my timetable and todo-list related to work, privately or for scrapbookingstufff..sigh…gotta jet, trying to wrap up as much as I can for the rest of the Sunday!

~~ Saying goodbye ~~

hk1

Browsing through my blogfeed I realized I totally forgot to share this card. It’s a goodbye/good luck card for a colleague of mine who just quit/got a new job.

hk2

I didn’t quite know what phrase to put on the front, so I just sort of stuffed it full of various lovely flowers and what I could find that I thought fit the colortheme of the Prima PPP.

6a00d83451cc5c69e20176170ec345970c-450wi

See? Hard not to join this challenge w/that lovely color palette!

hk3

It’s a tri fold card, or whatever you wanna call this kind of card…

hk5

With two bookmarks inside (as she’s a lover of books). Papers from Crate Paper and Sassafras, along with a split tag from Pink Paislee. One can never have too many bookmarks (says the person having two or three half read books placed around the house…an improvement as I just finished two books…but started on a new one haha..)

hk4

Oh, and you know the heart wires that Prima has? Never managed to use it to anything sensible, so I cut these white flower stems from it to use here…and on the next project of mine I actually managed to use the leftover heart shape. Hah.

I suppose I’ll share it in a month or two (uhm,,..or in two and a half weeks, as I just noticed on the calendar…eeks…time flies!) as it’s a future gift wrapping….(but it was made for the same challenge, so a picture of it can be seen on that result page for the august bap/ppp blogpost of Prima ;p)

Ps. Feels like yesterday last time it was this day – but actually, today’s the Talk Like A Pirate Day! arr! :D

~~ Trying things I don’t really master ~~

ania_lifts_heidi1

I suppose you could call this layout that!

As part of our last adventures with the Prima design team 2011, we were challenges to lift/get inspired by one of the other teammembers. I got Heidi Kelley, which both yielded the reactions WHEE! and EEKS! from me. She’s amazing with mixed media, and one of those fearlessly mixing paint, mist and you name it to create pieces of art.

BlowingKisses

Here’s her layout which was my starting point!

And here’s what I wrote about my layout:

When I think of Heidi Kelley...I think of her little scenes, no matter if it's on a layout or a shadowbox, where she hand cut her photos, staging a whole new stage for her protagonists...and then there's paint, lots of paint, and colors, and usually a whole little mix of flowers....While I had her recent layout "Blowing kisses" as a starting point (her two focal points on the layout are the two clusters, I've mimicked them on mine)...I additionally had her whole style in mind when creating my lift, especially the playful side of her creations, it's like she's carefree and happy when creating, exploring the artsier sides of scrapbooking and painting and art journaling, happily bringing them all together.
I'll admit..I was terrified...I still am...I like to think I'm handling most styles well, but hers really is one I don't go exploring too often! But once I started...I had fun during the planning stage, thinking....what would Heidi do now....in the end I just had to jump in and get started before I regretted things too much! :D Heidi, I hope you approve!

ania_lifts_heidi2

I whipped out my what, 5 year old, maybe more – moulding paste which I’ve used like, three times top….grabbed one of Primas huge array of masks…this time an old one, one really flowery one….added gesso upon the paste when dry then just added stuff on it :)

ania_lifts_heidi3

Here’s the other cluster…love clusters!

I suppose I should have added more flowers to the bottom of the “mound” on the layout, ahwell! It was fun though, having an “excuse” to play with a style I normally don’t explore! :)

~~ Mixed Media Day + Card Day at Prima ~~

may_ppp1
So, there’s a Mixed Media Day over at Prima. Now, I’ve never really counted myself as a mixed media kind of gal, not the way I see mixed media sort of. But I do love adding tiny little bits of mixed media to accent the work.. nevertheless….for this one had one bottle of Crackle Paint (distress fence) that was almost empty and about to go bad….so I figured..what the heck….I have a new bottle ready to be used…let’s just get the best of this bottle while it’s still good =)
may_ppp2
The flowers and leaves here are all mixed from various sorts of fabrics…from canvas to leather to felt to paper to fabric…:)
may_ppp3
I really like the effect the crackle paint yields used like this on the box…
may_ppp4
And I LOVE the flower used on the side here, by the handle. LOVE. (Solitaire jeweltone..it comes in four different colorhues though)
may_ppp5
You may remember this box (here’s the other one). I just didn’t bother dressing the insides for this one…besides..the colors aren’t that much off this time.
may_ppp6
So. No idea what to use this for yet, but we’ll see! Probably some kind of minor gift.may_ppp7
Maybe teachers gift if I haven’t figured out better ideas or time to do much about it by that time.
ania_card
And here’s the card I made for the Card Day Blog post over at Prima. Cute, hm?

~~ Tag, you’re it ~~

tag1

Mkay pardon me for using this silly pun in the title.

But yeah, well. Here’s a tag for you – created w/Prima lushness. I love tags when done right, but unfortunately – despite its small size – I find these hard to create. But I’m getting there methinks…I was happy with how this one turned out, at least! Check out Primas tag installation. LOVE especially the tags from Karola – so so so…lovely! (eloquent, me, mmm..)

So.

Not much happening around here atm. I’m slowly working my way though the CHA-S stuff to be done for Maya Road. Have wrapped up all my obligations for Prima. Tried to get ahead on the new few deadlines for various DT’s, to pave the way for this:

 d3

Ahhh. Diablo. I think it must have been the very first *graphic* PC game I played in my youth. Hm. No wait. Heroes of Might and Magic was the first game I became addicted to, but Diablo was the first one where I could play with others. Oh, the countless hours w/Diablo – either played alone, or at private LAN-parties. Fun fun! Never really got into Diablo 2 (can anything really beat the original Diablo??), but now that Diablo 3 is here….. we’ll see…! :)

Also trying to finish editing the photos of my (not-so)recent trip to Oslo, but it goes ever oh-so-slowly…sigh…here’s some of them though…

_DSC0399

My oldest niece. Love her room – I think it’s fun to photograph peoples rooms. Hm. It’s a nice idea for a future photodocumentary maybe…

_DSC0406

My nephew! Loves!

_DSC0440

I got to visit grandma! It was one of the main reasons I went to Oslo for a quick weekend-trip. Love her so much, but don’t get to see her too often…sigh…

_DSC0485

Those blue eyes are another good reason…

_DSC0496

This trio..

_DSC0507

Trying to photograph them all together & nicely wasn’t easy by the way. Ack!

_DSC0532

Sis in front of her laptop (duh)

_DSC0371

And my sis & mom. Blurry and not a perfect photo, but I hold it dear nevertheless…

Right. The stupid boss in the game doesn’t wanna lie down and die nicely, and I’m tired of dying over and over again so I’m gonna go work on one of the CHA-projects in the meanwhile!!

And I’m supposed to bake a cake for tomorrows National Day and stuff, right!

See yas…

~~ Tutorial: Pretty pot of roses! ~~

Posted by Ania On Wednesday, May 02, 2012 2 lovely comments

ania_flower4

There’s no denying. Prima makes the most gorgeous flowers out there. And with a ball of styrofoam, a stick of wood (the kind you use for BBQ and stuff), a little oasis (the green thingie you stick flowers into…what’s it called in English….oasis too?), a small pot and hot glue gun….you’ll whip up such a project in no time. And no, it’s not difficult at all….even I managed to create one :)

ania_flower1

Start with the pot: paint it white, add glitter to the top border and let dry. Adhere ribbon around the edge.

ania_flower3

Stick the wooden stick to the ball, secure with some adhesive. Cut the stems of the paper-roses, keep a small snippet of the stem so it can be used to pin it into the ball. Then just dab hot glue to the bottom of the flower and stick them to the styrofoam. Keep the flowers tight.

ania_flower

Cut the oasis so it’ll fit the pot, poke a hole in the middle for the stick by premaking a hole, dab some hot glue into it before sticking the stick to it (I’m so eloquent today!)..finish by adding more flowers to make up the “ground” and tie some ribbons underneath the ball.

For more, pretty flowerinspiration..check out this Prima-post :) Or this one. Or this. Or this!

~~ Fun with tags..and a layout ~~

tag5

Trying to do some more tags. They’re awesome once you get the hang of it. Not sure I do yet….but if you see say, Keisha Campbell…wow…that woman is amazing w/tags and layouts! A visit to her blog is always inspiring.

tag2

Nevertheless…here’s my attempts on some real simple tags…using stuff from Prima…here – flutterbits and tile…

tag3

My favorite Yuki-stamp set….embossed…

tag4

And a more elaborate one, yet simple…love the “charms” dangling, and the flowers used here…yuki1

I also did a layout I was happy with while creating, but now that I look at it afterwards..hm….well, I thought it was prettier while I was working with it! Ever had that feeling?? :/

(at least I enjoyed creating :D)

yuki2

Love the wooden buttons…! This one is from the doodle deux-collection… the papers are from both the doodle deux and Yuki-collections.

yuki3

See that stamped flower? This cling mount stamp set from yuki is by far my favorite stamp-set these days!

yuki4

Ahwell.

Hope your weekend was enjoyable!
