a good chop

Do you ever go through that
'so sick of my hair' stage where all you want to do is book in quick smart for a haircut?
This is me right now...Ive been thinking about it but hesistant too ...Its only hair right?
it grows back..
it can be curled or straightened, coloured and highlighted - its there to be changed!
..but I will take time to think about it - I've been there before and a shorter cut is a commitment and doesn't always mean 'carefree' hair days!

It seems like everyone is going shorter this season,
Sienna Miller's new bob looked amazing at the Golden Globes recently and with the #cleartheshoulders movement that was started by hair stylist Kristin Ess , it seems like everyone is joining in!

Bobby Pin Pretty...

Hello Pinterest for a little inspiration tonight...

how pretty is this!?
and simple too
The good old fashioned bobby pin in metallic gold (or silver) to decorate your casual updo...
I like it!

Did you know most peeps, me included, use the bobby pin the wrong way?  the longer end should be on top - the shorter end with the grip on the bottom...

Vidal Sassoon (1928-2012)
I sadly learnt that Vidal Sassoon passed away yesterday...I told my hubby last night and he had no idea that Vidal was a person, he thought it was a shampoo brand (...oh dear man!)...
One of the first 'celebrity' hairstylists,  Vidal was famous for changing the way woman had their hair cut, precision cutting, sleek styles, cropped styles....these styles were all the rage in the 60's along with the change in hemlines, strong eye-makeup, freedom of speech and a new direction for many woman...
Its said  he gave women the freedom to be more natural and at the time this was the case,  before that many  would set their hair in rollers and pin curls before bedtime to achieve their soft flipped look - others would tease their hair to high heavan to get the sexy bouffant , a look i still love!
So lets take a lesson from Vidal and learn to love and embrace what we have...ive been leaving my hair in its natural curly state lately - its still messy and gets frizzy but Im sick of frying my hair with a hot blowdrier and flat irons plus i save time by going 'wash and go'
...im also growing my hair so I can get some weight in my curl and the past fortnight Ive been doing the 'No Poo' method so far so good!

Pretty Hair Friday - one for the curly gals!
as a little girl I remember someone telling me that if I looked in a mirror in the darkness at night Id be able to see what I would look like when I grew up...
even though it freaked me out (i was such a scaredy cat and frightened of the night) I tried it hoping and wishing Id grow up to have long straight hair.

Well that never happened....

somedays i embrace my frizzy curly mess - most days I wear it blowdried smooth and that makes me happy, i guess happy that I dont have to deal with the frizzy curly mess
but a curly girl I am and will always be!

some tips ive learnt over the years....
Curly gals need to shampoo less and moisturise often.
Long long layers to get rid of the pyramid look.
Highlights and lowlights help to reflect light (shine)
Wash, moisturise and then do NOT touch! and if you can air drying is best.
