For my project this week I have made another 3D item. I had so much fun last week with my flower vase I thought I would make something other than a card with this lovely image, In The Frame Flourish Heart by Hope Jacare Doodles.

I printed the image onto red cardstock. I wasn’t too sure how it would come out but it is a very crisp image and all I needed to do colouring wise was use some glitter gel pens to colour the leaves and hearts.

I frehand cut the heart out on the outside edge and then used this as a template to cut a back section in red card and a chipboard centre to stiffen and stabilise my frame. The sentiment is from Raindrop Echo Design, printed onto white card and coloured with the red glitter gel pen.

I assembled the frame by mounting the front section on 3d foam squares, adding this to the sentiment and layering the chipboard and back section in place. I added a small loop of ribbin onto the top and did a final trim so all layers matched up. I then distressed the edges with a small black ink pad and added the ribbon rose as a decoration at the top.

As the UK is actually having some proper wintery weather with deep snow I hope everyone stays warm and safe and what a perfect excuse to do some crafting J

For this challenge I chose Oh Dahlia from Floppy Latte Designs. Jess has some amazing and very realistic floral images in the store and this is suitable for any occasion.

I coloured the image with Promarkers and Flexmarkers keeping to happy yellow and orange colours. I think I am inspired by the fantastic colours on the trees at the moment, I just adore Autumn J  I used a Nestabilities die to cut it out and create a pretty lacy border.

The paper is embossed from My Minds Eye Bloom & Grow pack, one of my favourites because of the colours and the simple flower and leaf shapes running through them. The border is from a free calendar and paper pack that came with a magazine in the same papers matted onto a scrap of orange card to provide definition.

My sentiment is a digi freebie from Raindrop Echo Designs. I adore butterflies and love the simplicity of the sentiment running through the body. I used a beaded trim from a floristry section of a craft store and snipped it to make the butterfly stamens. The sentiment has the wings folded back and the centre only is mounted on 3d foam. The large flower centre is embellished with a brown button and a shiny HOTP brad. The image below shows the details in close up.

In a rare move for me I resisted the urge to add anything else and called it done. This for me is a very CAS card, perhaps I am getting used to listening to the inner voice and not adding any extra bits that detract from the main image?

For this challenge I chose this lovely image Birds in a Tree by Hope Jacare Doodles for both myself and Choccy to work with. I loved all the swirls in the tree trunk and I could see that the leaves could easily be gemstones and of course the little tweety birds peeking out from the branches are very cute J

I coloured the image with Promarkers & Flexmarkers and although this is a big card and the image is big it needed the fine tip on the Promarkers to keep inside the intricate lines of this design. I used a new X Cut die set to cut the image and I was lucky as it was only just big enough. I distressed the edges to soften it a little. I added lots of gems to the leaves and some Glossy Accents to the birdies.

The large 8” card is covered with papers from my favourite Autumn collection, Woodland Friends by Papermania. The sentiment was a freebie some time ago from Raindrop Echo Designs which has been coloured, cut with a Nestabilities die and distressed with a small ink pad.

To cover the join in the paper I used a fab ‘ribbon’ that I got from a haberdashery stall in a local market. It has four rows of faux gemstones and you can cut the webbing to make it as thin or thick as you like. I just love perusing these little stalls as you can find some wonderful bits and pieces for your cards J

To finish off I added some more buttons from my Boofle bag, some embossed stickers from Papermania and some small red gems which have been recycled from an old T shirt.

For my card this week I have used a paper
pack called Winter Nights from Panda Bear Designs and a fab image called Snow Trio from Stitchy Bear Designs.

I used the icicle paper and the striped one from the set and using just plain card about 160gsm I got a great result from my printer. I made an easel card so I could showcase the icicle in the different directions and I like how they framed the image on the front of the card and lead your eye to the sentiment panel on the bottom. I really like the icicles and can see me using them a lot in my Christmas cards.

The image is coloured with Promarkers with Stickles glitter glue added as an accent to the snow on the ground and parts of the design. I also used small blobs as snowflakes interspersed with punched snowflakes.

On the bottom I used a Fiskars punch go layer the striped paper onto plain white card. The sentiment is from Raindrop Echo Designs. I used a small circle punch to cut the inverse corners and added the small snowflakes in the gap left in the matting layer. The sentiment panel is raised on 3d foam to allow the easel to stay open.

Materials Used in this card are as follows:-

Card Size – 6” square easel card
Paper – Winter Nights 1 by Panda Bear Designs
Image – Snow Trio by Stitchy Bear Designs
Embellishments – Stickles glitter glue
Tools – scissors, 3d foam, Promarkers, Fiskars Treading Water punch, tiny snowflake punch
Techniques – Multifold card, punching
