Guest Designer at Guylou's Inimitability :)

After winning a challenge at Guylou's Inimitability I was asked if I would like to be a Guest Design Team member on an upcoming challenge and also awarded 2 images of my choice from the store.

The challenge has been set by Brenda and is for a colours scheme but it must also include added flowers.

I had chosen the images Olivia and Gina & Her Furbabies for my prize and coloured them both in with the colours above, intending to get them both in for this challenge. However, with an extremely ill Grandad in hospital with lots of visits, plus the complication of a very tired hubby due to an epileptic fit whilst visiting his Grandad my crafty time has been severely curtailed over the last week or so.

My card has been made with the Olivia image, coloured in with promarkers. I used a nestie to cut her out and used a small green ink pad to distress the edges. The papers throughout are from a fab free pad that came with a magazine last week. I have used Fiskars Theading water and Martha Stewart heart doily punches on them as well as more ink to distress the edges. I have used a variety of flowers from my stash and added a spot of glitter to the cherry blossom one. the green bling is from Paperchase and the sentiment has been recycled from an old card.

I used the sketch from the current Secret Crafter challenge for the layout. I recently met the owner Wendy at a crafty show at the Motorcycle Museum and she was lovely, really knowledgeable and helped me out with a punch I was after and the Tim Holtz ink pad tool I have been after for a long time. It was the last one left and had been opened and poor Wendy got sprayed with all these little felt pads bursting out of the packet!

I also bought some Basic Grey paper pads I hadn't got, not that I needed any more paper you understand, I think I need to go to a group meeting at Paper Mountains Anonymous and repeat to myself I MUST NOT BUY ANY MORE PAPER..... yeah as if that will work. I had an email only yesterday from a store saying there were another 3 pads from the First Edition range I NEED to get, will it ever end I ask myself? Can I sneak any more paper in the house without Paul throwing a dickie fit??? All these questions and more will be answered in the near future my friends LOL (and of course it is a good excuse to arrange a shopping trip, I need to take my MIL to the Range so they could 'accidentally' fall in my basket...... move along, nothing to see here LOL)

Anyhoo, please pop on over to Guylou's challenge blog to enter this challenge. The colours are really pretty, I am sure we all have oodles and oodles of flowers just begging to be added to a card and you don't even have to use a store image, you do however get more chance of winning if you do as your card counts as a double entry.

Spring Jessica

This card was made using an April showers theme with a digital image called Jessica from Guylou's Inimitibility. Very apt for us at the moment as after a few days of glorious sunshine we are back to normal UK weather, rain, clouds and cold. We even had massive hailstones last night, definitely April showers!

I bought a pack of Papermania Kraft cards and envelopes on Monday. It is something I haven't ever used before so I thought I would experiment. ( I know, which rock have I been hiding under???? Kraft is EVERYWHERE)

The DP is from the Dovecraft Sweet Owl First Editions pad. I love those packs, there are some luscious papers and they are quite a thick quality. I have wrapped the card with an elasticated twine and popped the main image on 3d foam for dimension. I then created a second layer with the outside of the umbrella. The image is coloured with Promarkers. Last but not least the sentiment is a Papermania adhesive rub-0n with glitter rubbed into it.

Crafty Cardmakers Challenge # 39

In honour of Valentines Day we have a heart themed challenge starting today over at Crafty Cardmakers.

We are sponsored for this challenge by The Stampman and they are giving a £10 voucher away to the winner this week

Now for my project I have made something completely different for me. I have always wanted to do one of those little altered tins but have never found a small tin. So imagine my delight when I was putting my purchases on the conveyor belt in Home Bargains and found some tiny BRIGHT PINK tins of mints. I just had to buy one, and they were sugar free, double bonus !!

I had intended to make a little Valentine tin for my hubby and had bought some Love Heart sweeties so I could fill the tin with the best messages and decorate the outside. We've just had a brilliant Valentine Hop over at CDAC and the 'tattoo' style digi was a freebie from Guylou's Inimitability so I used that to decorate the outside. It is coloured in with both standard and a metallic gold Promarker. I covered the tin with black card and added Papermania ribbons to the edges. I have added some little heart gems and a sweetie to the outside.

So that was going to be it, just a little silly something to make Paul smile but I started getting a bit carried away when I realised that my new, much coveted Martha Stewart heart punchie would fit inside it, so I decorated the inside too.

I started with the MS punchie lattice heart which I purchased from Hobbycraft with my Christmas vouchers. I have wanted it for a very long time and it's either been out of stock when I've had the money for it, or when I've seen it I don't have the money for it. Isn't it always the way LOL.

Anyhoo, as the tin measures only 5cm x 6.5cm I pulled various bits and pieces together to see what would fit and work in it. The chipboard sentiment is from a QVC Colorbok kit, the felt heart with a bit of lace on it was from a Poundland bargain pack, the glittered die cut hearts are from a Let's Make Cards kit and I have added more heart gems and Love Hearts.

I know it is very amateur compared to some of the gorgeous works of art out there but I am really proud of it. It is something totally different for me and Paul will love it.

I am sure we will have loads of entries for this challenge and look forward to the love pouring out in your entries when Myself and the rest of the DT visit your blogs.
