For my card this week I have used an image by June at Dezinaworld called Mother & Child. It is a gorgeous vintage image demanding a soft touch.

I very rarely do cards like this so kept the colouring pale pink. I covered a cardstock base with a pale pink paper which has a fabric print to it. All the papers, ribbon and sentiment are from a baby collection by Cloud 9 design from Fiskars that I had from a QVC outlet.

I used a sketch from East Sleep Stamp Thursday and made a ribbon lace and paper trim down the length of the card. I used a darker pink from the same paper pack, punched a border on each side, added a length of my favourite lace and some of the fabric self adhesive ribbon from the pack. I added a doily onto the top of this.

The image has been coloured with Promarkers in light pink shades. The mother I have decoupaged a second layer omitting just the lace frill at the bottom. I love the pretty dresses they used to wear in the old days and this is a lovely example of one. I best she had a corset in to get a waist that small though, maybe not quite so comfortable then? Anyhoo, the image has been matted onto another pink from the paper pack and a lighter pink card from my stash then raised on 3d foam. Finally the sentiment is from a sheet of lovely baby themed ones from the pack.

I am really pleased with the soft shades on this and how it has worked out. It is great to be able to work with images that push your boundaries and take you out of your comfort zone.

Card Size – A5
Sentiment – Cloud 9 Design clear sticker by Fiskars
