Ho, Ho, Ho

OMG, get me..... another Crimble card :) This is another image that I had coloured just before Christmas but ran out of time to make it into a card.

The digi image is a freebie from July 2009 by Dustin Pike. It is still available on his blog here if you want to grab it. I chose the current sketch from Totally Gorjuss for the layout

All the items on this card are old and I have used some of my hoarded Prima Pointsettias. I have had those for about 3 years so it's about time I used them really. Yes they look pretty, but they should be on cards not stashed in my room. After not making much last year it feels good to have my mojo back I can tell you :)

Anyhoo, materials used are DCVW papers, the green was a strip I had left which has been treated with a Martha Stewart punch. The text strip is another from a scrap strip of card, you know those L shaped pieces that are left after you have covered a card, well I have actually used some up instead of them getting scrunched up and scratty and you then end up throwing them away.

The image has been coloured with Promarkers with Stickles glitter glue added to the fur trim on the hat and cuffs. Last but not least I have added one of my hoarded HOTP brads that I have had for a very, very long time. Woohoo !! Maybe there is hope for me, my hubby will be so proud of me :)

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:-

365 Cards Day 258

Another Christmas Card down and the challenge for Day 258 at 365 Cards which was to incorporate a hat of some sort into your card.

The image is a digi download from Dustin Pike and has been coloured in with my ever faithful Promarkers. The backing paper is a left over piece of a giftbag which has got flocked snowflakes on it.

The ribbon was a wider one that I cut in half and has cool metallic stars on it. The snow is a bag of fluffy glitter stuff that I found in my stash, haven't got a clue where I bought it from but it looks a lot like the Flowersoft that is all the rage at the moment but I know it was a fraction of the price and was a big bag too. Needless to say I was covered in the stuff when I finished the card :)

365 Cards Day 209

The challenge for Day 209 at 365 Cards was to use a jungle theme. I immediately decided to use this cheeky monkey digi image from Dustin Pike. It is a fabulous image that he gave away to download for free (click the link on his name and it will take you to the post on his blog)

I have coloured him in with my new Promarkers. I have a much bigger selection of greens now and I am pretty pleased with the results. I even did a pale blue line around the image to make it pop out more like my friend Lisa does. I have a hello of a long way to go to be as good at colouring in as she is but I even did some shading in the fingers, woohoo!

The background paper is a freebie from a magazine. The image has been matted onto scraps of co-ordinating card. The chipboard tag is from a Let's Make Cards pack. Ribbons are from my stash and the leaf brads are by Papermania.

Don't you just love the cheesy grin on this little monkey ? :)

365 Cards Day 139

OMG, I've made another Christmas Card !!!

Dustin Pike is sponsoring the challenge at Stamp Something this week and I have only recently become aware of his digi stamp designs. He has such a sense of humour in them and I really like them. He is also extremely generous in that he gives away a freebie on his blog every Wednesday. This little gingerbread chef is the freebie for 15th July. I was inspired to make a card using it as I wanted to use the little shrink plastic gingerbread men that I made last year. See, she is such a good cook that she has a little cookie already made.

The following challenges have been included in this card :)
I started off with a red textured card blank from DCVW. I added a square of cream textured card from my scrap box, edging both layers with a brown ink pad. The red card is a glittered design from a DCWV Christmas Mat stack. I used a pokey tool to pierce around the trellis design. The brown and red text paper is from a magazine freebie some time ago.

The digi image was printed out twice so I could decoupage the chefs hat, the wooden spoon and the dress. These have been raised on 3d foam. I pierced a star design in the corners and matted onto dark brown card. The shrink plastic gingerbread man was cut using a Sizzix die and coloured using felt tipped pens. The black detailing is a fine tipped permanent marker.

I just love the little image as it goes so well with my gingerbread man - almost like they were meant to be together all along. Not bad considering I made them so long ago :) I still have about 15 of them left so I'm sure they will feature in some more cards in the future.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed as I may win 3 free Dustin Pike images if I am lucky enough!
