Quick post: Orly Meet me under the Mistletoe

Mmmmhhh, who doesn’t like a good green with glassflecks*? I know I do and got this one a while ago (from their Holiday 2010 collection, whoa, time flies).
Anyway, this is a beautiful forest green with gold glass flecks. The glass fleck looks multi-chrome in the bottle but the effect isn’t as visible on the nail. I believe I used two coats and didn’t had any issues with the formula. The brush was nice too.

*obviously if you’re not into greens and/or glassflecks ;)

Orly Goth with some Confetti

Orly Goth is one of the first polishes I received in a swap. I first got it as a mini version but then decided to go for the big bottle. It looks divine in the bottle- black jelly with silver glass flecks and glitter. Sadly, through the opacity of the polish (almost a one coater!) the glitter isn't as visible. Like most underwhelming manicures, I search (or should I say dig because I sometimes have to dig a bit through my stash to find something or just randomly pick a polish if I feel really lazy) for a sheer polish I can layer over. So I dug out Streetwear Confetti, a mulit-colored hex-glitter topcoat with silver bar glitter.
And even after adding Confetti, I was still not happy with my manicure :(. Oh well, let's look at the pictures:

Orly Gumdrop

Gumdrop is one of Orly's Spring 2010 Sweet Collection and I didn't really feel like wearing it till now. I liked the color when I bought it but now after wearing it, I don't like it as much on me. Anyway, I used two coats and it wasn't a nightmare to apply as some pastels tend to.

Orly Royal Navy, a mesmerizing polish

You might've seen Royal Navy a couple of times, but I finally got myself a bottle and boy, it is stunning! I won't type much about it, I'll let the pictures speak for themselves :)

The Star of Bombay has a Laser

Orly's Star Of Bombay is a gorgeous dark navy blue with a hint of shimmer in it. It didn't impress me, so I searched for a layering polish to make my boring manicure to an exciting one. So I pulled out Sally Hansen Laser out from my untrieds and here you have it, a great combo. Laser is a middle-toned blue with a purple duo-chrome effect. It was more visible in person than in pictures, my camera sometimes sucks at capturing it.
I used two coats of SoB and one coat of Laser.

There's a Jungle in that Enchanted Forest

Who would've thought a local drug store would release such stunning green? b.pretty recently came out with a bunch of new shades for spring and Jungle is amongst them. One of my readers, Jenna asked if I could swatch a few of those so here they are :)
And here's a picture of the display (you can click on the picture)

Jungle has a vibe of Nars' Zulu but I sadly don't have that to compare it with. Altough from what I can compare from the swatches I've seen, it looks like Zulu is more of a jelly, is a bit darker and needs more coats to be opaque whereas Jungle is a dark emerald green but not too dark that it's black in low lightning.
Back to the polishes: Orly's Enchanted forest is- as the name implides- a forest green with a grey undertone that is only more visible in some lights/ direct sunlight.

I painted two coats each of both polishes and didn't had any problems with either of them.

Party Palace Blue with a La Playa and a Star

These three "babies" were from polishes I got from swaps from two wonderful ladies. Orly La playa is a gorgeous blue creme with a hint of purple whereas Confetti Party Palace Blue is a sheer blue iridescent glitter which are similar to Sally Hansen Strobe Light or Sinful Colors Hottie. Revlon Star is a glitter polish with silver hex-glitter in a clear base
For la Playa I used two coat till it was opaque and it looked quite boring on its own so I pulled out PPB and Revlon Star from my untried-stash.
A picture of La Playe on its own:
and here layered with a coat  of PPB and Star:
two more pictures to show the different colored glitter:

An amazing swap and a breathtaking Nfu.Oh

Hey there :)

Some time ago I did another swap with Jackie from Candy Coated Tips and she got me these goodies:

OPI Blue Moon Langoon, Sally Hansen Purple Pizzazz, Milani Dot com, Sinful Colors Let's Talk and Wet'n'Wild Blue Moon
Orly La Playa, China Glaze Mummy May I and China Glaze Ghoulish Glow, their Glow in the Dark polish/topcoat
some sweets and a beautiful card :D
Thanks again Jackie for this wonderful swap, you rock!

My recent army of Nfu.Oh's left you all drooling, so here's the first one I used: number 52. I used Essence's Midnight Rocker as a base but the pictures turned out to be really bad, so I'll reswatch it. Midnight Rocker is one of Essence's new shades and is an almost black purple. It needed two coats to be opaque and I layered one coat of Nfu.Oh 52 over it. The Nfu.Oh flakies are stunning and I couldn't stop staring at my nails when I was wearing it.
I used different angles to show the different colors the flakies.

Orly Wild Wisteria and Prisma Gloss Silver

Hey there :D

I was in a layering mood and chose these two polishes: Orly Wild Wisteria and Prisma Gloss Silver. WW is a dark, eggplant purple creme. It only needed two coats to be opaque and didn't  had any problems with the formula or the brush.
(please ignore the plant in the background)
And with one coat of Primsa Gloss Silver

Yves Rocher Bleu Nuit gets a bit chunky with Claire's

Hey there :D

As you can see, I changed the Template. I was getting a bit sick of the old one so a new one was necessary. I hope you like it :)

Remember this post about my comparison of the teeny tiny Yves Rocher polishes? I've decanned one of the bottles because I simply can't handle the tiny brush and handle. Bleu Nuit is from an previous Christmas LE (from last year I think) and is incredibly pigmented. I was able got get nearly double of the original 3ml with lots and lots of thinner (I use this method of cleaning out bottles who are really pigmented so I don't waste any polish). I've also put some comparison pics of the brush at the end if you're intrested.

Anyhow, it's still incredibly pigmented even with all the thinner and a better bottle. I used one coat except my pointer, where I painted two to see how it'll look. The second coat gives it a really awesome depth.

See how it glows on my pointer?
I couldn't let it alone and decided to layer Claire's Chunky Blue over it and it was instant love :D

The sun decided to join this party too :D

Now onto the brush comparisons: I used a Orly brush to compare it to and it's twice at big as Yves Rochers one.
The Orly brush is 4 inches(8cm) long. I wonder if anyone can handle the YR one?

H&M swatches spam and comparisons

Hey there

So today I'll show you a lot of swatches- first up, My Favourite Jeans.

It's a dark blue semi-foil with glass flecks. I used three coats. I quite like it but the formula was a bit weird.

Moonless Night- a black with dark silver shimmer. It's one of those where you only see the shimmer in direct sunlight, so it was harder to photograph. It tooke me two coats to reach opacity.
Here one with flash and after swatching it, I had something similar in my stash, Catrice Back to Black, so I did this comparison:
The same "hidden" shimmer in the bottle, let's see what the flash pic has to reveal:
Yep, definitly dupes- Back to Black was almost opaque in one coat, but you'll get better results with two, which I used for the pictures.

Fashionista- a vibrant purple, almost a frost finish
Imagine it a bit less blue. It also dried really quickly, probably the the fastest of the bunch. It took me two coats to be opaque.
Next up, Godess on Stage.
Godess on Stage is a dark eggplant purple, which sadly, is a lot darker on the nail than in the bottle.I really love the shimmer in the bottle which can probably only be seen in direct sunlight. In lower lights this one surely will look almost-black but I don't think it's a big issue because I know how beautiful it can be in sunlight :)
I used two coats
Now, some lighter shaades....
U must have this- A gorgeous blue creme, two coats to reach opacity.
Next- a comparison: Essence The World's Coolest, Orly Gumdrop, H&M Bellas Choice and Artdeco #93
The World's Coolest was a bit watery, almost jelly-like formula. I used three coats.
Gumdrop was almost opaque in one coat, it is a bit "dustier" than all the other polishes in this comparison.
Bellas Choice is the greenest/most turquoise one, it was almost opaque in one coat.
Artdeco #93 is the bluest of the bunch and was like Gumdrop& BC almost opaque in one coat.

And now the last comparison, betwen Essie Mesmerize, H&M Blue my Mind and P2 Gigantic

Mesmerize is, not like his name, the darkest one. I was quite dissapointed in it because when I first saw the swatches, it was brighter and had a neon-touch in it. On the nail& in the bottle? Not so much. I used two coats.
Blue my Mind- a beautiful creme blue. The formula was ok and  took two coats to be opaque.
Gigantic is what I imagined, Mesmerize would be- a bright, azure blue. It's my favourite in this comparison and took only two coats to be opaque.
