More and more…What’s Going On?

"Petrol naik harga!!!"

"Berapalah?"

"Naik 78 sen seliter wo!!"

"Adeh…matilah kita uhuhuhu…"

"Sudalah gaji kicil…"

"Tulah…haiyaaaaa…"

Lamentation, lamentation, lamentations…oh, how we love lamentations! With the current increase of petrol and diesel prices, we have to expect more price increases in other areas like food. Ooopppsss…too late, the price of food like rice had already increased significantly. Right now, currently underemployed (it's kind of a transition between being employed and unemployed hah!) I'm beginning to feel the difficulty of having less than RM100 in my pocket. About four years ago, with RM15 I can load about half of my Kancil tank. But now, it's doubled to RM30 just to get it to reach half!! Man!! Bummer!! All these price increases made me rethink about my purchasing habits. When I think of it, from now on, I can't really spend like I used to. No more Mega Sales purchases…wave goodbye to frequent mamak stalls…au revoir to Starbucks…so much sacrifices to do UHUHUHUHU!!!

But still, we have to be grateful cos we were still subsidized and the price of petrol is still comparably cheap if compared to neigbouring countries. I think as a consumer, realizing that our purchasing power is highly dependable on the ups and downs of the global market (whatever the jargon is!), we have to be smart consumers. Pengguna bijak la katakan…hmmm…this phrase seems to remind me of a campaign many years ago…whatever it is, have to adjust to being thrifty.
