Not A Card
The new challenge at Sugar Creek Hollow starts today and this time it is titled NOT A CARD. We want you to make gifts, home decor, altered items, etc. and while they do not have to be Christmas themed you might want to take advantage of the fact that it is that time of year. Your project must be shabby chic or vintage.
Before I tell you how I made this ornament, I have to let you all know that this is going to be the last challenge at Sugar Creek Hollow. With the exception of some much appreciated help from a couple of former DT members, I have been running it by myself for 3 years and after careful consideration I realized that it was time for a break. During this time I have also been looking after my Mother-in-Law who lives 2000 miles away and just recently had to go and move her from one care facility to another one because her dementia has increased and she had started to wander. While I am pretty good at multi-tasking, I have hit the wall. I have certainly enjoyed all the wonderful DT members and the participants in our challenges over the time that I was running SCH and then took over ownership of it so I will miss them.
Now on to my ornament. No matter how hard I tried I could not get a photograph that represents the true colour so it seems to have a slight orange tinge to it that isn't there. It is really red, white and gold. This is another "It looks better in real life" moments so I am starting to nag my husband again for a good photo setup.
I tried something different and love, love, love the result. I started with a big square of white cotton duck fabric recycled from an old pillow protector . Next I painted it with Folk Art Barnyard Red, Deco Champagne Gold and Folk Art White acrylic craft paint that I mixed 1:1 with Americana Fabric Medium. The fabric medium allows the paint to dry while still keeping the fabric soft and pliable.
Next I randomly stamped some script with a Recollections stamp using Ranger Jet Black Archival Ink. Then I stamped some small snowflakes from the Artistic Outpost Sleigh Ride set and a few large snowflakes from a Class Act wood mounted stamp using Brilliance Moonlight White pigment ink.
The next step was to cover the stamped fabric with crumpled tissue paper by adhering it with Mod Podge. I hand cut two large hearts with my pinking shears and I also cut three smaller hearts from fleece, which were sandwiched between the fabric hearts. I used strong glue to put the hearts together but would sew them in the future - I just didn't feel like hauling out my sewing machine.
I found some red seam binding in my sewing stash and used that to make the hanger and bow. To embellish the heart, I painted a little heart charm from my stash and a filigree medallion from Bead Landing with the Champagne Gold paint. Then I added some Recollections pearl flourishes, some red gems and gold pearl stickers from Recollections and flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts. Finally I made a bead charm to dangle from the bottom.
I am going to enter this in the following challenges:
A Crafty Mess - Anything Goes/Traditional Christmas Colors
Artist Trading Post Exchange - Recycle for Christmas (white cotton duck fabric)
C.R.A.F.T. Challenge - Christmas
Crafting by Designs - Anything Goes for Christmas
Fresh Brewed Designs - Christmas Anything Goes
Bearly Mine - Christmas Decoration (Not A Card)

Non-Traditional Christmas Colours - Vintage Style
It is time for the new challenge at Sugar Creek Hollow and this time we are calling it VINTAGE CHRISTMAS CARDS with a twist - NON-TRADITIONAL COLOURS.
This card was super simple to make and I think it is flat enough that it won't require extra postage. I started my card with some kraft card stock from Recollections and then added some patterned paper from Farm House Paper Company. I distressed the background (and everything else) with my scissors and inked the edges with some Vintage Photo Distress Ink from Ranger.
I added a panel of white corrugated cardboard from The Funkie Junkie Boutique and another panel made from Tim Holtz Color Core card stock that I embossed with an embossing folder called Budding Vine from Craft Concepts.
Next came some crochet lace from my sewing stash, a vintage image that was a freebie from Linda, The Funkie Junkie and a ticket from The Beary Scrap. I made a loopy bow from twine and topped it with another loopy bow made from seam binding dyed with Forest Moss Distress Ink. Finally I added some buttons from my stash.

Christmas Recycling
It is time for a new challenge at Sugar Creek Hollow and we are calling it Recycling or Re-purposing. We want to see vintage or shabby chic projects where you have used a recycled item or you have used an item meant for a different purpose (re-purposing).
I have created another ornament for my Christmas tree from a used CD. My husband brought a pile home from his work a couple years ago and asked if I could do anything with them - well yes. I got my husband to drill two holes opposite each other and then started gluing strips of music paper on one side. After they were dry, I punched the holes again. Then I glued the music paper to the other side and re-punched the holes. If you glue the paper to both sides before punching the holes, you won't know where to find them - something I learned the hard way with the first CD ornament I made.
After the glue was dry I inked it lightly with Vintage Photo Distress Ink from Ranger and then dabbed on some Wendy Vecchi Gold Embossing Paste.
I printed the vintage Santa from Magpie on the House and fussy cut it before I glued it to the ornament. Next I raided my Christmas creating stash for some Christmas greenery that I frosted with a bit of snow (a.k.a. styrofoam shavings), a little pine cone and some red and white berries.
The poinsettia was made using a Marianne Creatables die from paper that I dabbed with craft paint and a natural sea sponge before I cut the pieces. After the pieces were cut, I inked them all with Fired Brick and Aged Mahogany Distress Ink and then added Forest Moss Distress Ink to one. I used a Copic marker to define the veins. Then I added some beads from my stash for the centre.
The hanger is some red seam binding from my sewing closet with a button from a warehouse in Fancy Gap, Virginia added to cover the top hole. I made some bead charms for the bottom and hung them from some gold chain.

One, Two, Three - Go
The new challenge at Sugar Creek Hollow starts today and the theme is called ONE, TWO, THREE. We want you to make cards with one focal image, two patterned papers and three types of embellishments (e.g. a strip of lace, a few pearls and some ribbon). You can add multiples of any of the three types you choose but we don't want you to add a 4th type of embellishment.
Provided we have at least nine entries in the challenge we will choose one random winner who will receive a little piece of word art along with a winner's badge to display. The Design Team will choose their Top Pick and that creator will receive a winner's badge and also be in the running for a monthly Guest Designer spot.
I made this card while I was in Virginia visiting with my friend Patti and decided it would be great for my husband's birthday.
I started with some Recollections green card stock for my blank and added two papers from First Edition. Next I stamped the vintage truck from Stampin Up with Jet Black Archival Ink from Ranger and coloured it with Spectrum Noirs. The leaves were cut from scraps of card stock on Patti's Cameo and I then I stamped them with a Gina K. script stamp. Everything was inked with some Vintage Photo Distress Ink from Ranger. Finally I added a button and some hemp from Patti's stash.
While I designed this card and put it together, Patti supplied everything that went into it so you might say that she made it too :) So there you go, one truck image, two papers and three types of embellishments - leaves, button and hemp.
I am going to enter this into the following challenges:
Add A Little Dazzle - Fall is Here or Anything Goes
Ruby's Rainbow - Autumn Leaves
Crafting Musketeers - Autumn Colours
Crafty Hazelnut's Patterned Paper Challenge - Anything Goes with Patterned Paper
Craft-room Challenge - Seasonal Colours (Fall)
Docerela Creations - Fall Colours

Hide and Go Seek
It is time for a new challenge at Sugar Creek Hollow and this one is called Hide and Go Seek. We want you to make a vintage or shabby chic project with a hidden element. Make sure you mention what your hidden element is in your post.
Here is my hidden element:
My husband and I recently went on a two-week road trip to the US and in addition to some sightseeing we visited with some of my crafty friends along the way. We spent a week in Virginia with the lovely Patti Painter and her husband and while there Patti and I managed to get a couple of crafting sessions in. I had taken some of the elements for this card with me but also used some of Patti's supplies, such as her die set, Spectrum Noirs (a.k.a. her magic markers according to her husband - lol) and rubber stamps. We also had dinner and spent a fun evening in Richmond, Virginia with Cheryl Grant of Sassy Cheryl's Stamps and spent a fabulous weekend in Maryland with Ann English and her husband. Patti and Ann have been on design teams with me and I must say - my crafting friends are the best.
I started with some Recollections card stock for the blank. Then I added some Pink Paislee papers from the Queen Bee collection for the background, distressed them with my scissors and sponged them with some Black Soot Distress Ink from Ranger. I cut the large horizontal die cut from more of the Pink Paislee paper using Spellbinders Labels 18 die.
The image die is cut from white card stock using the same die set. Next I stamped the Lemon Stamp from Stampin Up using Jet Black Archival Ink from Ranger and coloured it with Patti's Spectrum Noirs (my first effort but I think it is fine considering I am a Prismacolor gal).
I made a loopy bow from black satin ribbon that I picked up at Fabricland and added a Recollections polka dot button to it. The large die has some Recollections pearl stickers added and is popped up with foam dots. The hidden sentiment is from Stampin Up and has been stamped with Jet Black Archival Ink on a hand cut tag and then sponged with some Black Soot DI. The narrow yellow ribbon came from my stash.
Finally I added some black lace that came from an outlet store in Fancy Gap, VA and a computer generated sentiment that I hand cut.
I am going to enter this card in the following challenges:
Simply Create Too - Special Occasion
The Sisterhood of Crafters - Lots of Layers
Cuttlebug Mania - Anything Die Cut
Bunny Zoe's Crafts - Lace
Crafty Cardmakers - Ribbons/Lace and Pearls
Timbro Scrapmania - Lace and Pearls

Floral Chic
Two weeks have gone by quickly and now it is time for another new challenge at Sugar Creek Hollow. This time it is called Word Play and we want to see vintage or shabby chic projects that include a word or words, which could be a sentiment but does not have to be.
I think this card is more chic than shabby but I love how it turned out.
I started with some Recollections card stock for my blank and then created the background from a piece of scrap white card stock. I sponged Squeezed Lemonade, Scattered Straw and Dried Marigold Distress Ink from Ranger over the piece and then did some stenciling in Wild Honey DI with the Wendy Vecchi checkers stencil.
I cut some leaves from Tim Holtz color core card stock using my Cameo and then inked them with some Forest Moss DI from Ranger.
I added a strip of black ribbon from Fabricland to a strip of patterned paper from My Mind's Eye and fastened that on the right side. I stamped the sentiment from The Daisy Art set from Wendy Vecchi.
I also stamped the flower from the same stamp set twice and fussy cut it. Each flower was coloured with Prismacolor pencil crayons and blended with Gotrick odourless mineral spirits. I popped the top flower up with some foam dots and added some black seed beads from Michaels for the centre.
Finally I made a big bow from some gradient organza ribbon that I picked up in Fancy Gap, Virginia.

Tag - Tim Style
The new challenge at Sugar Creek Hollow this time is called Tag, You're It and we want you to make vintage or shabby chic stand alone tags or put them on your cards or other projects.
I have never participated in one of the Tim Holtz tag challenges but thought I would give it a go this month (12 Tags of 2014 August). I checked out his tutorial and then started digging through my craft room to see what I had on hand to accomplish a tag that sort of resembled his masterpiece.
Since I followed the tutorial pretty closely, I won't repeat the steps here but will just give a list of supplies this time:
Stamps:
Gentlemen (Tim Holtz Curious Possibility)
Vintage Ads (Recollections Vintage Ads)
Tissue Wrap:
Tim Holtz Melange
Stencils:
Letter Jumble (Dylusions)
Moroccan (Heidi Swap)
Distress Stains:
Wild Honey (Ranger)

Make My Monday - Tags and Toppers

Birthday Celebration
The new challenge at Sugar Creek Hollow starts today and it is called Let's Celebrate. We want you to make vintage or shabby chic celebratory cards for birthdays. weddings, anniversaries, etc.
I decided to make a birthday card for a woman and use up some patterned paper that has been in my scrap stash for ages - so long I can't remember who made it. It was two-sided and I used the floral side for the background and the plain side for the panel that I punched with a Martha Stewart edge punch.
I added a piece of lace that I bought from an outlet in Fancy Gap when I was visiting my friend Patti. I added some pearls from Dollarama and then topped it with a sentiment that is inside a fancy frame from The Graphics Fairy. I coloured the frame with some Bic markers.
The image is Lilly Elise from Imogemes and she is mounted on a piece of card stock that has been inked with some Walnut Stain Distress Ink from Ranger.
The flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts and from Excelsior Wholesale and the brown ribbon is from Fabricland.

Summer Sunshine
It is time for another new challenge at Sugar Creek Hollow and this time we are calling it SUMMER SUNSHINE. We want to see vintage or shabby chic projects with the bright colours of summer - oranges, reds, strong yellows, etc.
Many of my neighbours have trellises in their gardens with climbing roses or clematis but since I don't, the closest I can get to having a trellis is to put it on a card.
I started with some Bazzill card stock for my blank and then added a background paper from Basic Grey.
The hexagon "trellis" was cut from Tim Holtz Grunge paper on my Cameo and then I sponged it with Crushed Olive Distress Ink from Ranger. Next I added all the climbing roses from Wild Orchid Crafts and some twirls from the cut-off flower stems. I made the stick pin by adding some beads from my stash to a pearl-headed pin from Dollarama.
The bird cage is a wooden die cut from The Paper Studio and I rubbed it with Classic Gold wax paste from Treasure Gold. The crinkly bow is some Hug Snug Seam Binding that I dyed with a mixture of Aged Mahogany and Ripe Persimmon Distress Inks from Ranger. The bird is a silver charm from Arton Bead Supply and I re-coloured it with Terra Cotta Alcohol Ink from Ranger.
Finally, the sentiment is from Create with TLC and I distressed the edges with my scissors and inked it with some Ranger Antique Linen Distress Ink.
I am going to enter this card into the following challenges:
Deep Ocean Challenge - Summer Colours
Perfectly Rustics - Bow or Ruffle
Lacy Sunshine Challenge - Flowers

Vintage Travel
The new challenge is starting today at Sugar Creek Hollow and we are calling it On The Road. We want to see vintage or shabby chic projects that depict vintage travel so please make sure any image that you use is vintage.
I made this flat card a couple weeks ago when my husband was on strike (not one he supported either) and quite frankly I was feeling a bit flat myself. He is back to work after 3 weeks of walking a picket line and losing significant income so you can bet my spirits and my crafting have had a lift.
This is a small card with some Recollections kraft card stock for the blank. The background panel was a scrap of cream card stock that I embossed with the Tim Holtz Postcard texture fade and inked with some Frayed Burlap Distress Ink from Ranger.
The auto image is from Indigo Blu and was stamped with Jet Black Archival Ink also from Ranger. The suitcases are Stampin Up images and have been coloured with Prismacolour pencils and blended with Gotrick OMS.
The two travel words are from some My Mind's Eye paper and the hotel ads are from Ephemera Society. Finally I added some black brads from Making Memories.

Notepad Holder
The new challenge at Sugar Creek Hollow is called It's Charming. We want you to create vintage or shabby chic cards or other projects that have a metal charm or other metal on them.
Provided we have at least nine entries in the challenge we will choose one random winner who will receive a little piece of word art along with a winner's badge to display. The Design Team will choose their Top Pick and that creator will receive a winner's badge and also be in the running for a monthly Guest Designer spot.
As I mentioned last time, I was in Virginia visiting Patti Painter and on one of the days that we crafted we made these really cool notepad holders. The template was Patti's but when we started to create I suggested that we tweak the inside to include a pocket so that the notepad could be replaced once it was empty of useful pages. She liked that idea so between the two of us we came up with new measurements and it worked beautifully.
Here is how mine came together noting that Patti let me use all of her supplies and she has some beautiful things to work with:
For the outside, I started with a piece of Stampin Up card stock and then added some patterned paper from K & Company. The opposite side of the paper was used to make the panel and I used a Martha Stewart edge punch to make the border. The lace is from a fabric outlet mall in Fancy Gap, Virginia that we went to. The pearls are from Want To Scrap.
The flowers were made with card stock scraps using the Peonies die from Spellbinders and have brads from Making Memories as centres. The branch is a Sissix Die.
The sentiment is from Stampendous and has been stamped onto a Spellbinders Labels 18 die. The little butterfly is a Martha Stewart punch and was stamped with a script stamp from Gina K. Designs. Patti wasn't sure where the gorgeous metal heart came from but it makes a lovely frame for the butterfly.
The edges of all the card stock and paper pieces have been inked with Vintage Photo Distress Ink from Ranger.
Next I worked on the inside. I added a strip of the floral patterned paper to the top of the notepad to make it prettier.
Finally I decorated the pocket with more of the patterned papers and some pearl flourishes. That is the back of the notepad that you see inside the pocket. The pads came from WalMart and are roughly 5" x 8".
This was a super fun project to make and would make wonderful gifts for teachers, service providers and of course, friends. I gave this one to Patti to keep once it was done. By the way, Patti made a gorgeous one too with a beach theme and did hers in half the time I took to make mine - I am such a slow crafter.

Floral Beauty
The new challenge at Sugar Creek Hollow begins today and since this is the official first day of summer and everything is finally green and gardens are full of flowers, we are calling it FLORAL. We want to see vintage or shabby chic projects featuring flowers.
We are pleased to be welcoming Doodle Pantry back as a sponsor and they will be providing one random winner with a $10 gift certificate to their store (can't be combined with another coupon).
All the designers at Sugar Creek Hollow have used a different floral image from our sponsor to create of their cards and I chose the Lily Collection and then went with the Easter Lily to make my simple shabby card.
Before I tell you about my card for this challenge, let me tell you what I did last week. I spent a week visiting Patti Painter at her home. Some of you may remember that Patti was on the Sugar Creek Hollow DT but even after she stepped down, she kindly agreed to stay on as my backup and posts when I am away. We had the most wonderful week chatting, sightseeing, crafting, cooking together and of course, sharing some wine. Patti is the most lovely lady, a terrific hostess, a talented crafter, a super cook and most of all a wonderful friend - she is THE BEST and I am blessed to know her.
Now on to my card - I used some white card stock from Recollections for my blank and then added some gingham paper and another panel and corner of mini polka dot paper from My Mind's Eye for the background.
The sentiment was computer generated and then I punched each end with a Martha Stewart punch before I inked it with Spun Sugar Distress Ink from Ranger.
The image was printed twice and one was cut using a Nellie Snellen die. The die cut image was inked with more Spun Sugar DI. The other image was fussy cut and then both images were coloured with Prismacolors and blended with Gotrick OMS. The fussy cut image was added on top of the other image with pop dots.
I added a strip of lace from Sussman Bridal Supply and topped them with some pearl stickers. The loopy bow was made with some organza ribbon from Michaels and another pearl sticker was added to the centre. Finally I added some Recollections pearl flourishes to finish off the card.
I am going to enter this card in the following challenges:
Craftitude Challenges - Flowers and/or Lace
In The Pink - Flower Garden
Digichoosday - In The Pink
Make My Monday - Pretty In Pink
Crafty Bloggers Network - Bingo (Die Cut, Ribbon or Lace, Pearls)

Here Comes The Bride
It is time for a new challenge at Sugar Creek Hollow and in keeping with the month of June we are calling it Here Comes The Bride. We want to see vintage or shabby chic projects with a wedding theme.
I started my card with some white card stock from Staples for the blank. Next I found some pink paper in my scraps and kicked it up a bit by stenciling a lattice pattern with some Worn Lipstick Distress Ink from Ranger. Unfortunately the packaging for the stencil is gone and I am not positive who made it and would only be guessing.
The wonderful image of the bride and her bridesmaids came from Victoriana.com. I mounted the image on top of a paper doily from Wilton. Next I added a bunch of flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts and some crystal sprays from Excelsior Wholesale.
The sentiment was made on my computer and inked with more Worn Lipstick DI. The loopy bow was made from white organza ribbon from Arton Bead Supply and then I added a few pink gems from Dollarama to the background and the bow.
I am going to enter this card in the following challenges:
In The Pink - Shabby Chic/Vintage
Paper Crafting Journey - Perfect in Pink
Make My Monday - Weddings

Tea Party
It is time for a new challenge at Sugar Creek Hollow and this time we are calling it Eat and Drink. We want you to make vintage or shabby chic projects that depict food or drink.
We are pleased to have a Guest Designer, Apollonia DeJong (a.k.a. Plony) joining us this time so please make her welcome. Check out the wonderful creations on her blog by clicking here.
I started my card with some Bazzill card stock for the blank and then added two papers from Raspberry Road. I used a scrap of cream card stock and created a mat with a Martha Stewart Around the Page punch and then inked it with some Peeled Paint Distress Ink by Ranger. The image from Antique Images was mounted next.
Next I added a border of lace from Sussman's Bridal Supply and topped it with a variety of vintage cups and saucers from The Graphics Fairy and Intimate Wedding.
The flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts and I coloured a couple white ones with a Promarker to get the dusty rose ones. The leaves are a Martha Stewart punch and I made the swirls from the stems of the flowers. Finally I added a teapot charm from Arton Bead Supply.

Pansy Fairy
It is time for another new challenge at Sugar Creek Hollow and this time we want to see vintage or shabby projects featuring FAIRIES AND ANGELS.
We are pleased to have a sponsor for this week - A Day for Daisies is returning with a prize for one random winner of a $12 gift certificate to the online store. That is a fabulous prize because it will allow the winner to pick 3 of their gorgeous images.
I made a 6" square card and started with some white card stock from Recollections for my blank and then added some Basic Grey patterned paper from a pad called Cappella for my background. The polka dot panel was a scrap and I don't remember where it is from.
The image is from A Day for Daisies and is called Pansy Fairy. She has been coloured with Prismacolors and blended with Gotrick OMS. I added some Star Dust Stickles from Ranger to her wings and them finished the image panel with some pearl stickers from Dollarama.
I punched some purple card stock from my scraps with a Martha Stewart edge punch and then inked the edges with Dusty Concord Distress Ink from Ranger. The lace is from my sewing stash. The butterfly was punched out of another scrap with a Martha Stewart punch and the little pearls making up the body are from Dollarama.
I cut the leaves with my Cameo from scrap card stock and inked the edges with Crushed Olive Distress Ink from Ranger. The flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts and I made the charms with a variety of beads and pearls that I have picked up here and there.

Vintage Masculine Birthday
For the new two-week challenge at Sugar Creek Hollow we want you to play Tic Tac Toe. You can make any vintage or shabby chic project as long as you incorporate three items in a row from the graphic below. Don't forget, you must select three items from any row vertically, horizontally or diagonally.
We have a Guest Designer joining us again this week so pop over and see the wonderful work from Heidi Augustson (a.k.a.Filharmonica) and then make sure you check out her blog too.
I needed to make a birthday card for my niece's husband so I chose the horizontal row across the middle and incorporated Embossing, Ribbon and Distressing. Thankfully there was one row that would work or he might be getting a rather frilly card full of lace and flowers OR no card at all. The best thing about this card is that it is flat enough to mail without any added postage and since it costs $1 to buy a single stamp in Canada now, that is a bonus. If you buy stamps in bulk you get a break at 85 cents each so needless to say, I buy in bulk.
I started with some Kraft card stock from Recollections for my blank. From this point on, everything is from my scraps and is inked with Ranger's Walnut Stain Distress Ink and all the distressing was done with my scissors.
For my background I chose some blue paper with brown spatters from Provo Craft. I added some texture in the bottom corner by running some Wendy Vecchi Translucent Embossing Paste over a stencil from TCW called Mini Cell Theory. Once it was dry I inked and distressed it. Next I added a distressed a piece of brown paper with polka dots. This was topped with the blue ribbon with brown polka dots that came from Michaels.
Once the ribbon was added, I adhered the whole thing to the card blank. Next I embossed a piece of Kraft card stock with the Gears embossing folder from Tim Holtz and inked it to highlight the embossing. The image from a stamp set called Curious Possibility from Tim Holtz and was stamped with Walnut Stain Distress Ink on a scrap of blue card stock. I made the sentiment on the computer making sure to change the font colour to brown. Finally I added some Bead Landing metal gears.
I am going to enter this card in the following challenges:
4 Crafty Chicks - Embossing
Art Impressions Stamps - Anything Goes - Masculine
The House That Stamps Built - For The Guys
The Paper Shelter - For The Boys
Penny's Paper Crafty - One for the Boys

Easter Chicks
The new two-week challenge starts today at Sugar Creek Hollow and this time it is appropriately called EASTER. We want to see vintage or shabby chic projects that depict Easter.
We have a talented Guest Designer joining us for this challenge. Her name is Nicola but you probably know her as Paper Profusion. Please make her feel welcome and head over to her blog to see her wonderful creations.
I made a little card after I found this adorable vintage Easter postcard online at Mambeenoe. Don't you just love their Easter bonnets?
I started with some white card stock from Staples for my blank and then added some paper from a pad called Picadilly by Basic Grey that I distressed with my scissors and then inked with some Frayed Burlap Distress Ink by Ranger. A coordinating paper from the same pad was embossed with a Cuttlebug embossing folder called Victoria and inked with more Frayed Burlap.
Next I added some lace and a strand of pearls from my stash. After distressing and inking the image, I mounted it on some white crepe paper that came from Dollarama. The pearl flourishes are also from Dollarama and the large oval crystal gem is from a David Tutera bridal collection that I got on clearance at Michaels.
The flower is made of a large flower by Recollections, a ribbon flower that I made with organza from Arton Bead Supply and a white rose from Wild Orchid Crafts.
I am going to enter this card in the following challenges:

Best Friends
It is time for a new two-week challenge at Sugar Creek Hollow and this time we want you to MAKE YOUR OWN BACKGROUND.
Thanks to Cathi O'Neill of our Design Team, for this challenge we are pleased to welcome a new sponsor coming to us from Australia.
The folks at Molossi have a wide variety of products and you can see what they have to offer when you check out the challenge post at Sugar Creek Hollow.
They are providing a wonderful prize pack for one random winner. Look at all the goodies you could win.
Here are the details of my card from the bottom up:
I started my card with some Bazzill card stock for the blank and then I created my background. First I tore all sorts of papers from an old book, some scraps from my stash and some Tim Holtz Tissue Wrap. I used some Ranger Glue and Seal to glue the torn papers to a piece of cream card stock and then gave them another coat on top..
Then I stenciled over the whole piece using a Moroccan Lattice stencil from Heidi Swapp and some Olive Archival Ink from Ranger. I then covered the whole piece with Wendy Vecchi Orange Blossom and Red Geranium Archival Ink. The final step for the background was to use a Tiny Circles stencil from TCW and Wendy Vecchi Gold Embossing Paste.
Next I took some corrugated card stock from Michaels, inked the edges with Ranger's Vintage Photo Distress Ink and distressed it a bit with my scissors. On top of that I added a panel of net that I picked up in England and then wrapped some satin ribbon from Fabricland around all of these layers and made a bow on the side.
The next layer is a piece of cream card stock that I embossed with a script folder from Cuttlebug and then inked with some more Vintage Photo Distress Ink. The Friends Forever text is computer generated and the image is part of a Darkroom Door collage stamp provided by our sponsor appropriately called Friends that I stamped using Coffee Archival Ink from Ranger and then inked with some Vintage Photo Distress Ink.
The lock and key are chipboard pieces provided by our sponsor that I rubbed with Onyxite and Rose Quartz Treasure Gold wax paste to get a rusty look. Finally I added the lace flower, also provided by our sponsor but I took the liberty of swapping out the pearl and crystal centre that it came with for something that fit a little better with my colour palette so I hope they won't be upset. Even though I didn't ask for permission, I am asking for forgiveness :)
I am going to enter this card in the following challenges:
Challenges and candies - Embossing
Craftyhands - Shabby Chic
Fussy and Fancy - Shabby Chic
Red Rubber Designs - Very Vintage
Digi Stamps 4 Joy - Vintage
Stampotique Designers Challenge - Vintage

Baby Love
It is time for a new two-week challenge at Sugar Creek Hollow and this time we have a PHOTO INSPIRATION for you. We want you to make a vintage or shabby chic card or other paper-crafted project using the photo below to guide you. You can use the theme in the photo or the colours - I have chosen to incorporate both
I started with some white card stock from Staples for my blank and then added some pretty paper from Far Far Hill for the background. Next I added some strips of complimentary paper from the Far Far Hill set.
The two lace strips on the side came from my Mother-in-Law's sewing room. I topped it with some satin ribbon from Kate's Paperie and a couple of teeny buttons from Dress It Up.
The image came from By Vintage Design and has been mounted on a piece of Recollections card stock and then framed with some pearl trim from my stash. The little butterfly was done with a Martha Stewart punch and the body are pearl stickers from Recollections. All the papers have been inked on the edges with Pumice Stone Distress Ink by Ranger.
The flowers are all from Wild Orchid Crafts and the sentiment was computer generated. The little gold charm came from a store in Manhattan but I can't remember the name and the next time I was there I couldn't find it.
I am going to enter this card in the following challenges:
Creative Card Crew - Charms
Papertake Weekly - Bingo (Flowers, Free, Buttons)

Sew Fashionable
For the next two weeks the challenge at Sugar Creek Hollow is called SEW FASHIONABLE and we want to see vintage or shabby chic cards or other projects that depict sewing.
For this challenge we have another Guest Designer joining us. Zoe Sanderson is a crafter from the UK so please make her feel welcome, check out her blog and leave her some love.
From the bottom up, here is how I created this card:
I started with some cream card stock from Staples for the blank and then added a background of striped paper from My Mind's Eye. that I distressed with my scissors. I found the McCall's pattern photo online and the vintage sewing machine image came from The Graphic Fairy.
The little piece of metal at the top is from Michaels, the metal hanger is from 7 Gypsies and the button is from my stash. The piece of lace also came from my stash and I think it was from my husband's late Aunt's sewing basket originally. The tape measure is piece of clip art that I altered slightly. The flowers are from Prima and the brad is from Making Memories. Everything has been inked with Vintage Photo Distress Ink by Ranger. The little metal scissors charm were in my stash but I have no idea where they came from.
I am going to enter this card in the following challenges:
Inky Impressions - So Charming
Shopping Our Stash - Heavy Metal
