Sew Fashionable
It is another Sensational Saturday and that means a new challenge at Sugar Creek Hollow called SEW FASHIONABLE. We want you to make vintage or shabby chic cards with some sewing on them and something that speaks to fashion.
This week we are pleased to welcome a new sponsor, Live and Love Crafts, who will be providing one random winner with their choice of six colours of the gorgeous hand-dyed crinkle seam binding that they sell in their online store. All of the girls on the DT have used the seam binding on their cards this week and were thrilled with the quality and the size of the skein.
The random winner will also receive a winner's badge from Sugar Creek Hollow. The Design Team will choose their Top Pick and that creator will also receive a winner's badge and be in the running for a monthly Guest Designer spot.
I went outside my comfort zone this week and rather than hand sewing as I usually do, I actually used my sewing machine to stitch around the fabric square that I brought back from England. The flower was something new I tried and is my favourite thing on this card (come to think of it, making any kind of flowers is my favourite and I love trying new types). It is made of vellum that I embossed and then sponged with distress ink. My crinkle seam binding was crinkled so tightly that I couldn't make a bow I was happy with so I just took my iron and gave it a light pressing.
I am going to enter this card in the following challenges:
Little Red Wagon - Bows
The Paper Shelter - Charms
Stampavie and More - Stitches
Anything Goes Challenge - Make Your Own Embellishments
Emerald Faeries - Anything Goes
Bearly Mine - Anything Goes
Fashionista Challenge - Anything Goes
Simon Says Stamp and Show - Your Favorite (the flower)
Crazy Challenge - Handmade Flowers

A Home Holds Hearts
It is another Sensational Saturday at Sugar Creek Hollow and this week we want to see SENSATIONAL STITCHING on your card or other paper crafting project. You can do real stitching by machine or by hand or you can do faux stitching. I have chosen to do my stitching by hand primarily because I worry about wrecking my sewing machine. One of these days I will take a leap of faith and give it a try with my machine and I'll probably find out that it is fine. I know it will save me a ton of time and open up the design possibilities.
Along with our challenge this week, we are having the last activity in our month-long first anniversary celebration and Tracy, the owner of Sugar Creek Hollow would like you to help her to name this image before it goes into the store. The details about this contest can be found here.
I am going to enter this card in the following challenges:

Meljens Designs - Punches
Crafts and Me - Anything Goes

Patty in Purple
The challenge at Phindy's Place is to create a project with stitching (real or faux). I have so much on my plate right now that I didn't think I would be able to participate this week but I quickly designed a little card yesterday and took pieces of it with me when I went to Toronto that could be stitched by hand while I visited my Niece and her family. In the past, I have tried to use my sewing machine with no success and I really don't want to damage it as I do some sewing for my granddaughter so I pierced all the holes and used embroidery floss to create the stitching. The card feels thrown together and is not my favourite but I did like the stitching and will take a little more time and make another card soon with hand stitching on it.
I think someone should point my husband in the direction of this post so he can see that I am trying to save money and not always spending on craft supplies. How you ask - well the flowers started out life as white with pink polka dots and I painted them rather than buying new ones. I call it going green or re-purposing and that's my story and I am sticking to it.
