Hide and Go Seek

It is time for a new challenge at Sugar Creek Hollow and this one is called Hide and Go Seek.  We want you to make a vintage or shabby chic project with a hidden element.  Make sure you mention what your hidden element is in your post.

Here is my hidden element:

My husband and I recently went on a two-week road trip to the US and in addition to some sightseeing we visited with some of my crafty friends along the way.  We spent a week in Virginia with the lovely Patti Painter and her husband and while there Patti and I managed to get a couple of crafting sessions in.  I had taken some of the elements for this card with me but also used some of Patti's supplies, such as her die set, Spectrum Noirs (a.k.a. her magic markers according to her husband - lol) and rubber stamps.  We also had dinner and spent a fun evening in Richmond, Virginia with Cheryl Grant of Sassy Cheryl's Stamps and spent a fabulous weekend in Maryland with Ann English and her husband.  Patti and Ann have been on design teams with me and I must say - my crafting friends are the best.

I started with some Recollections card stock for the blank.  Then I added some Pink Paislee papers from the Queen Bee collection for the background, distressed them with my scissors and sponged them with some Black Soot Distress Ink from Ranger.  I cut the large horizontal die cut from more of the Pink Paislee paper using Spellbinders Labels 18 die.

The image die is cut from white card stock using the same die set.  Next I stamped the Lemon Stamp from Stampin Up using Jet Black Archival Ink from Ranger and coloured it with Patti's Spectrum Noirs (my first effort but I think it is fine considering I am a Prismacolor gal).

I made a loopy bow from black satin ribbon that I picked up at Fabricland and added a Recollections polka dot button to it.  The large die has some Recollections pearl stickers added and is popped up with foam dots.  The hidden sentiment is from Stampin Up and has been stamped with Jet Black Archival Ink on a hand cut tag and then sponged with some Black Soot DI.  The narrow yellow ribbon came from my stash.

Finally I added some black lace that came from an outlet store in Fancy Gap, VA and a computer generated sentiment that I hand cut.

I am going to enter this card in the following challenges:

Simply Create Too - Special Occasion
The Sisterhood of Crafters - Lots of Layers
Cuttlebug Mania - Anything Die Cut
Bunny Zoe's Crafts - Lace
Crafty Cardmakers - Ribbons/Lace and Pearls
Timbro Scrapmania - Lace and Pearls

Romantic Anniversary

The challenge for the next two weeks at Sugar Creek Hollow is called ROMANCE.  We want to see vintage or shabby chic cards and other projects that depict Romance.

We are welcoming a new sponsor for this challenge.  Really Reasonable Ribbon is generously providing one random winner with a $15 gift certificate to their online store, which is loaded with fabulous ribbons, trims and flowers.

Since I was still in England and my husband was here at home on September 20th, which was our 38th  anniversary, the day itself couldn't be romantic but I think this card that I left for him is romantic and he liked it so that counts for something.

I started with some cream card stock from Staples for my card blank and then added a background from My Mind's Eye.  I found the wonderful image online (sorry I thought I wrote down the source) and I have mounted it on a scalloped rectangle that I cut using my Cameo from pink card stock from my scraps and then added a couple little dew drops from my stash.

The corner is a piece from the Venetian Motifs Shapabilities die from Spellbinders and the pearl flourishes are from Dollarama.  The sentiment is computer generated, cut out with a pair of Fiskars mini scallop scissors and edged with some chalk from Mungyo.  The same chalk was used on the doily, which also came from my scraps.

I used the gorgeous ribbon from Really Reasonable Ribbon to make the rosette and the tails.  A pearl brad from Gartner makes the centre of the rosette and then a few little roses from Wild Orchid Crafts were added to finish things off.

I am going to enter this card in the following challenges:

Crafty Ribbons - Anything Goes with Ribbon
Fab 'n' Funky - Ribbon
The Paper Shelter - Shabby Chic
Whimsy Stamps Inspirations Challenge - Vintage/Shabby Chic
A Little Bit Crafty - A Little Bit Shabby
Live and Love Crafts - Pink
The Pink Elephant Challenge - Anniversary or Wedding

Sugar Creek Hollow Blog Hop & New Release

This is a really big day at Sugar Creek Hollow (and this is a really long post).  There are new stamps in the store, we are having a blog hop and we have a new challenge for you.

Let's start with the Sugar Creek Hollow challenge.  It is an easy one for you - ANYTHING GOES - and you have to love that. This week each of the Sugar Creek Hollow designers has used one of the new stamps so you really must check out their work and when you see their cards I know you will want to head over to the store to pick up one or two of the new images.

Here's my card featuring the Happy Anniversary Cake - a sentiment that has been kicked up a few notches, wouldn't you say? Sorry about the photo but the light would not cooperate so the faded black paper at the top looks a bit more faded.

Today, in addition to announcing our weekly challenge, we are having a blog hop at Sugar Creek Hollow as part of our first anniversary celebrations. All the designers have a giveaway for a winner chosen randomly from the people who leave comments on their blogs. There will be a grand prize winner chosen from the people who leave a comment on the Sugar Creek Hollow challenge blog.

The blog hop will run in conjunction with the challenge from 8:00 am EST on Saturday, March 19th to 12 midnight EST on Friday, March 25th. Comments left after the deadline will not be included in any of the draws. Winners will be announced on each blog and the challenge blog on March 26th.

To be eligible for my giveaway you must become a follower and then leave me a comment telling me which stamp in the Sugar Creek Hollow Shoppe is your favorite. In addition, if you'd like you can tell me what types of stamps you might want to see added to the Sugar Creek Hollow line of stamps. Don’t forget to leave a contact email in case you are the winner on my blog.

Here is what one random winner from the comments on my blog will receive:

1 package of 3/8" Glue Dots singles
1 package of pink pearl stickers
1 roll of ribbon
2 bundles of Wild Orchid flowers
8 unmounted flower rubber stamps from Stamp It Crazy
1 unmounted coordinating sentiment rubber stamp from Stamp It Crazy

Hopefully you have arrived here from Sharon's blog but if you are lost, here is the order of the blog hop:

Happy Anniversary

Some time ago I made a card with an image that I had purchased from Phindy's Place and while I think the image is adorable, I found it difficult to colour and did not like that first effort.  I gave it another go today and am happier with the output.  I also decided to make the card itself a little cleaner so the image would be the star.

I even found a couple of challenges that I could enter:

My Time To Craft - Lovely Lace
Cute Card Thursday - Happy Anniversary

The image is called Cozy Evening and has been coloured using a combination of Prismacolor and Koh-I-Noor pencil crayons.  The paper is from Kally Panacci for Sandylion Sticker Designs.  The cardstock is Recollections (Michaels) and some that my local printer ordered in for me.  The sentiment is computer generated.  Other supplies used: Lace (my stash) and Ribbon (Fabricland).
