Pearls & Swirls

We have a long weekend here and the weather is glorious so we will be getting the patio furniture down and moving a few perennials around. I also have my husband convinced to help go through all the clothes closets and dresser drawers and pitch everything that hasn't been worn for a few years. That means this is the weekend I finally admit that I am not as small as I used to be and will never be again. My closet will be bare at the end of this exercise so I hope he is prepared for the fact that a shopping trip is in my near future.

It's time for another challenge at Sugar Creek Hollow.  This week we want you to channel your more frilly side and make vintage, shabby chic or primitive cards with PEARLS & SWIRLS.

One random winner will be chosen to receive a digi of our choice and a winner's badge to display.  The Design Team will select their Top Pick and the creator will receive a winner's badge and will be in the running for a monthly Guest Designer spot.

There is more exciting Design Team news to share this week.  First, Heather Hudson is joining our team today so please welcome her and check out her blog where you will be treated to some fabulous eye candy.

Secondly Amelia Breytenbach is joining us this week as a Guest Designer.  Amelia was chosen from the March Top Picks.  You will want to visit her blog and feast your eyes on her wonderful projects.

Multi Tasking Mom

This week our challenge over at Phindy's Friday Challenges is called ANIMAL PLANET. We want to see an animal on your card or other paper-crafted project.

I thought this image was such fun because Moms have way too much to do, even animal Moms. You don't have to use a Phindy image in your project but I encourage you to because you get two entries if you do. If you don't have one of Phindy's animal images, pop over to her store because she has lots there to choose from.

One random winner will receive a $5 gift certificate to Phindy's store. The Design Team will select one project as Card of the Week with the creator also receiving a $5 gift certificate and getting a chance at being a monthly Guest Designer.

I am going to enter this card in the following challenges:

Tea for Mother

Wow, it's already Saturday and we have another sensational challenge at Sugar Creek Hollow.  This time it is all about CIRCLES.  If you want to use it, we have a sketch for you to go with it, but the sketch is optional.  Come on over and show us your card with circles.  If you use a Sugar Creek Hollow image you will get two entries.

I am actually glad it is Saturday because that means only two more days before my daughter and son-in-law return from their vacation and reclaim their children.  Now, don't get me wrong, I love my grandchildren dearly but 9 days of looking after a 2 year-old and a 4 1/2 year-old is really tiring at my age.  We have only had a couple of meltdowns from the older one who actually acts more like a 14 year-old sometimes but we survived them.  As for the little one, he is like a little sponge right now and his vocabulary is increasing in leaps and bounds but if I read about Thomas the Tank Engine one more time, I might scream.

I am going to enter this card in the following challenges:

Aud Sentiments - Anything Goes
Crafty Purple Frog - Texture & Ribbon
Some Odd Girl - All About Moms
Stampin' B's - Mother's Day
Truly Scrumptious - Vintage

Image:  Just "Pour" You (Sugar Creek Hollow)
Sentiment:  Create with TLC
Card Stock:  Cream (Wassau), Green (Recollections)
Paper:  October Afternoon
Colouring Medium:  Pencil Crayons (Prismacolors) with OMS (Taltine)
Tools & Embellishments:  Sheer Ribbon (Michaels), Antique Linen & Old Paper Distress Ink (Ranger), Silver Stickles (Ranger), Pearl & Rhinestone Flourishes (Gift from an SCH Design Team Mate), Chalk (Mungyo), Circle Punches (EK Paper Shapers), Pearl Buttons (Gartner), Petite Scalloped Circle Nestabilities (Spellbinders), Victoria Embossing Folder (Cuttlebug), Fleur de Lis Circle (My Design)

Flowers for Mother

The challenge at Daisy Doodles Creative Challenges is to use an image with flowers with Mother's Day as an option.  Since I was in the Mother's Day frame of mind, I decided to add the option.  This challenge is being generously sponsored by Digi Doodle Shop and we are fortunate to be using their images in our cards for your inspiration.  They are providing the prize, which is 3 digital stamps of your choice from their shop so be sure to enter your creation. Thank you Digi Doodle Shop!

The challenge will last for two weeks so you have lots of time to make more than one item to share with us at Daisy Doodles Creative Challenges.  Remember you don't have to use a Daisy Doodles image to enter but there are lots of great images in her shop so why don't you hop over and pick one up.  You can purchase Daisy Doodles images and great digital papers here or here.

I am entering this card in the following challenges:

Little Red Wagon - Pink & Green
For Fun Challenges - Card for A Mom
Crafty Ann's  - Anything Goes
CCEE Stampers - Mother's Day Card
Dare U 2 Digi Stamp  - Anything Goes
Raise The Bar  - For Mom
If The Shoe Fits - Mother's Day
No Time To Stamp - Mother's Day
Fab 'n Funky  - Fancy Edges

This image called Vintage Hat and Girl  can be found at the Digi Doodle Shop and has been coloured with a combination of Prismacolor and Koh-I-Noor pencil crayons.  The paper is from Anna Griffin and the card stock is Recollections (Michaels).  The sentiment is computer generated.  Other supplies used:  Sentimenals Cartridge (Cricut), Lace (my stash), Nestabilities (Spellbinders), Pearl Stickers (Recollections from Michaels), Chalk (Mungyo), Ribbon (Kate's Paperie) and Brads (my stash).

In Honour of Mother

It is time for another challenge at Isabella's Sketchbook Challenges and this week you are asked to make something in honour of Mother.   You have a week to create your project so make sure you come over to share it with us and be in the running to win two of Isabella's wonderful digi images.

In Canada and the US, this Sunday is Mother's Day and even though Mother's Day has already come and gone in the UK and other countries, making a card for that very special person in your life can (and should) be done at any time.

I am fortunate to still have my 88 year-old Mother-in-Law in my life but sadly my own Mother passed away 18 years ago.  She was very creative and would love the cards I am making and would probably be offering suggestions on how to improve them :)  Since my Mother is gone, I decided to make this card to honour a different Mother, my daughter.  She has two little people and she is an awesome Mother, which surprises me slightly because as a child she did not like to play with dolls.  In addition to the sentiment on the outside, I added the following verse inside:

The joy of watching you
grow into motherhood
has been such a blessing,
and seeing you
with your own children
brings more pride
than you could know.

Happy Mother's Day!

I am going to enter this card in the following challenges:

Paper Play  - Pretty Pastels
Dare U 2 Digi Stamp - Flowers
Sentimental Sundays - For That Someone Special
Stamp It Crazy - Mother's Day Card
Digi Doodle  - Anything Goes

The image from Isabella's Sketchbook is called Loving Guardian and has been coloured with a combination of Prismacolor and Koh-I-Noor pencil crayons.  The papers are from scrap packs but since I took the packs apart, I am sorry that I do not have the designer information.  The card stock is Georgia Pacific from a local office supply store.  The sentiment is computer generated.  Other supplies used:  Butterfly Punches (Martha Stewart and Marvy Uchida), Branch and Leaf Punches (Martha Stewart), Corner Embossing Punch (No name bargain from Ecstasy Crafts), Flowers (Bridal Supply Store), Wire (Artistic Wire), Pearl Stickers (Recollections from Michaels), Stickles (Ranger) and Craft Candy (Craftwork Cards).
