Vision

I received a lovely surprise from Trudi at last weeks NCB....

This lovely piece of vintage fabric came from her aunty (please correct me if I'm wrong Trudi).

It's the perfect amount of fabric to whip up a lovely vintage style dress..... I wonder if that was the original intention when it was purchased?

As I've never sewn a proper dress for myself before, I'm going to put my birthday voucher to use, and enlist some help from Bec.

In the meantime, Frances is looking quite sauve draped in a vision of loveliness....

Trial and Error - part 2

Excuse the pants - I only iron when I'm sewing!

Well I promised myself that it would be onward and upward after the first trial.... and so I tried again.

I decided that a top would be more practical than a dress. I had this lovely vintage fabric in the stash that I received from a friends mum. It was from the same lot as the Tahiti fabric.

The fabric is quite sheer, so I interfaced the top rectangular sections, and added a muslin lining to the front drapey section. I had to overlock all of the seams to prevent it from fraying too.

The front and the back are exactly the same, which makes it a little bulky at the back (the back doesn't have any lining), and I widened the shoulder straps to make sure that my bra wouldn't be on show.

This one actually made it out of the house, as I gave it a swelter test run during yesterdays heatwave. I think I quite like it!

Lunch Break

I've been very very busy and I have some very exciting news.... but I can't spill the beans just yet, well, not until tomorrow anyway!

In the meantime, while I'm having a late lunch break (lastnights leftovers), here is the first Vintage Girly inspired bag from last week.

Lunch break over - it's back to the sweat shop for me.

Another day.... another placemat

Yet another placemat re-fashion... I've added some vintage floral for the top section and the strap.

No time today - I'm off to Tinniegirls house for a crafty day out. Must go and pack the car pronto!

My Creative Space

This week it's all about handbags again. I have a request for some Vintage Girly Inspired handbags, so I've been searching through the stash (and making a mountain of a mess) looking for appropriate fabrics.

This lovely vintage floral is from the same stash that I received from my friends mum. It's the perfect summer accessory.... especially with this heat.

I'm nearly finished but I've only now just realised that I've completely run out of magnetic snaps. I'll have to buy some on my travels today. One vintage girly handbag down, five more to go.

Have a wonderful Thursday and don't forget to check out the hostess with the mostest for all of the creative spaces of the day.
