Blogtoberfest Day 4: Pimping the Great Outdoors

The sun was actually shining in Melbourne yesterday, so I took the opportunity to have a bit of a clean up and a re-organisation of my indoor and outdoor space.

I finally stuck my gorgeous What Katy Did Wall Decal on my glass sliding door (which took a whole 5 minutes - super simple).

This is the view from my kitchen sink, out the sliding door into my little outdoor alcove. I'm hoping that the decal will sort of distract my attention from the neighbours back door and clothesline.

If you look really closely, you'll also notice that I've managed to grow some weeds out there too - they're nearly the same height as the outdoor table.

This is the view with the sheer curtain pulled across.

My Sis and BIL delivered my firescreen last week too. Now I'm just waiting on getting a nice big piece of Blueboard (which I'm going to paint red), to attach to the brickwork, and then I'm going to hang the screen on the red blueboard.

I'm hoping it will look spectacular - and given the fact that the flowers are corrugated iron, at least I can't kill them.

What Katy Did

My What Katy Did Design wall decal arrived in the post last week - I haven't managed to put it on the sliding door just yet, as I'm thinking that I should probably clean the glass first, but isn't it just stunning. I love the combination of the birds and the blossoms.

Inside the package were also some gorgeous suprises!

A beautiful piece of fabric with CurlyPops printed with Katy's Yudu. She must have been reading my mind because I need to make a fabric banner to attach to my tablecloth for the markets. Now I can just add a border to this piece and voila - done.

...and also inside was this beautiful beaded necklace which I've been wearing ever since.

Thanks so much Katy!

Shopping.... who me???

To cheer myself up the other day, I decided to a little bit of online shopping therapy.

I bought this lovely vinyl wall decal from What Katy Did. The same lovely Katy who designed my fabulous new blog header.

I'm going to install it on my glass sliding door so that I have a nice view of cherry blossoms from the kitchen, instead of a fence, and the neighbours clothesline (one of the many joys of suburbia)!

If you read my blog, then you've probaby noticed that I have a bit of an obsession with adding snaps to many of my projects (I've even managed to incorporate some into my quilt square).

Carmel from Solomon Sewing alerted me to the fact that Snaps Australia is having a huge 40% off sale, and there's also a free shipping deal, so I bought myself a snap press, both sizes of dies and hundreds of snaps!

Oh and I also bought myself one of these extremely funky Finki Art Pendant / Brooches at the Made'n'Thornbury Market a couple of weeks ago. I just couldn't resist the flying ducks. There's plenty more in the Finki Shop.

Now I'm all shopped out!

Clicketty Click

Clicketty click over for a look at my beaut new blog header.

I only know the basics of photoshop, and I can't use illustrator at all, so I decided to ask a professional.

The very lovely and super talented Katy from What Katy Did Design interpreted what I wanted perfectly. I only provided a couple of pics as inspiration for the type of pattern that I liked, and then asked her to use a colour pallette of red, orange and pink.

I think she did a superb job! Thanks so much Katy.

Co-incidence

Do you remember the Disneyland tea towel that Selina sent me a couple of weeks ago?

It's now become an apron for Katy

.... and as a happy co-incidence today, check out this post over at Lucy Bowler

Loot Glorious Loot - Day 1

I'm joining in with Tinniegirl's week of Loot Glorious Loot where we all get to show off things we've swapped / bought / made.... not that I need any more encouragement to show off!

Anyway, last week was my birthday, and I had a little bit of money in my paypal account that was burning a hole in my virtual pocket, so I had a little bit of a click around Made It to see what I could find just for me....

I settled on a lovely glass pendant from What Katy Did (I'm becoming even more seriously addicted to handmade jewellery).....

When I opened the package, I found this lovely padded fabric bucket (in my favourite colour combination), and a fabric wrapped package.

Inside the fabric wrapped package was this beautiful hand stitched felt pouch and a handmade card....

Inside the pouch was this gorgeous pendant!
I loved the little fabric bucket so much that I took it along to the market on Saturday and used it on my stall for my business cards.
Katy has some more gorgeous pendants in her Made It Shop and also some wall and window decals. My favourite is the Cherry Blossom.
