Blogtoberfest Day 24: I see RED

Lastnight was the wonderful Redwork Quilt Hanging evening at the Abbotsford Convent.

There was a sea of red...... and a sea of lovely crafty bloggers and non-bloggers, all very eager to have a look at the exquisite finished masterpiece.

Kirsty has done such a magnificent job of the entire project. I can only imagine how much time and effort it's taken to get to this point.

My happy snaps certainly don't do any justice to the project, so please head on over to the official blog for a much better view, and all of the background information for the entire project.

I think Kirsty deserves a HUGE round of applause!

Where for art thou ferris wheel?

My little ferris wheel is winging its way over to the other side of Melbourne right now....

The postie had better deliver it on time.....

I had to drive past the other ferris wheel earlier in the week......
It was supposed to be the 'apple of docklands eye'

I snapped some shots on my mobile phone....

I was stuck in traffic - I promise I wasn't driving and taking photos at the same time!

After watching it being slowly put together over a couple of years, it's really quite sad to see it being taken to pieces again.

My creative space

There's nothing creative going on today, so instead, I'm sharing some last minute pics of my quilt project square.

A huge thanks to each and every person who left me a message yesterday. I don't usually share things of a very personal nature on the blog, but sharing certainly made me feel better.

I ended up spending a couple of hours on the couch, finishing off the last minute details, adding some special bling.

I think that the thing that I've loved the most about this project, is that I haven't had to specifically buy anything. Every single thing I've used was already in the stash - red fabric paint, red cotton, red floss, red snaps, red sequins, dismembered crochet tablecloths, and I've even used the red string that Kirsty had tied around the original envelope.... waste not want not.

Now the time has come to pack it all up and send it on a journey to a new destination. I can't wait to see how the story ends......

Be sure to check out all the creative spaces and the quilt project over at Kootoyoo.

Obviously

Obviously, what I thought would be completely obvious, is in fact, not obvious at all.

So, this is an update after some more stitching lastnight - and a one word clue to the mystery object on my quilt square: Showbags

Can you guess what it is now?

First correct answer wins a prize!

I feel like I should be spruiking at the show.....

Update: Sandi is the winner - it is going to become a Ferris Wheel. Thanks to everyone who played along and tried to guess.

My creative space

Not much has been happening this week, but I have finally decided on my theme for the quilt project.

Each night this week, I've dedicated my couch and tv time to a little bit of quiet hand stitching in red. Slowly, but surely, it's beginning to take shape.

I haven't had a giveaway in a really long time, so if you can guess what my stitching is going to become, I'll send you a mystery gift. I hope it's not too blatanly obvious just yet!

In other creative news, I bought myself a new little pressie..... a mini HP notebook. Perfect for a bit of blog surfing, and facebooking, and online shopping on the couch. It only weighs 1.2 kilograms, and once I've made a spiffy new padded laptop cover, I'll be able to just pop it into my handbag and take it wherever I need to go.

Go East

The Thornbury Craft Bonanza headed to the home of Hoppo Bumpo yesterday for a crafternoon filled with scones and jam and cream, chocolate cake, really bad jokes, and lots of laughs.

Bec even managed to fit in a trip to the oppy on the way, just to make me insanely jealous!

I made a little progress on something red.....

....but the most super exciting thing is that Tinniegirl has nearly finished this beautiful snuggly granny square rug which is for me and my couch!

I can't wait to inject a bit of colour into my lounging area.

A huge thankyou to Liesl for being such a wonderful host for the afternoon - can't wait for the next one!
