Testing Testing 1 2 3 again

After a day at the markets on Saturday, I was itching to do some sewing yesterday. So, I got out of bed, made coffee, and started whipping up this extremely cute Specs Case (in my pyjamas).

It's another new pattern from Nikki at Nicole Mallalieu Design which will be available very very soon. I used a vintage floral pillowcase teamed with a spotty print that I picked up from Amitie.

I think the thing that I love the most about this one is that I can use it for my big Blowfly Oroton sunglasses, or alternatively, I can actually probably fit at least two pairs of my normal everyday glasses - which then means that I can carry all of my different coloured glasses in my handbag at all times, and then just change colours to suit my mood.... and it's so much prettier than the ugly plastic cases that they give you at the optometrist!

A belated birthday pressie

It was my younger sisters birthday on Sunday, and she'd requested a Ray's Tent City voucher as a pressie.

I'd been meaning to make her a purse since I did Nikki's purse frame class last year, but I just never got around to it..... until last night.

I was just hammering the frame to finish it off at around 8 PM when there was a knock at the door.... and she walked in. Talk about perfect timing!

Revealed - part 2

It's my big sisters birthday today so I can finally reveal the handmade pressies....
I made this before christmas and I've had it in hiding until today.

After completing the purse making class, I ordered some more supplies from Nikki so that I could make some more at home. My iron definitely isn't as good as the one that we used in the class, so I really need to invest in a decent one, as it really does give a better finish on a project like this one.

.... and this is another pressie that my nephew and I worked together on. Inspired by the tin can pencil cups that we made at Brown Owls, we decided to make her a pen holder using a wooden craft pen holder as the base. We painted the inside and then made a fabric cover with some ribbons stitched on. We then covered the base in glue, wrapped the fabric cover around it, and added the buttons to personalise it with her first initial.

Happy Birthday Mrs T!

Pretty Purses

I had a lovely day at Nikki's Purse Making Class yesterday. It's always fabulous to come home with a finished project after a class. I couldn't resist making a pink purse for all for me!

A WIP shot of some hammering action....

It's always great to combine lovely people, lovely crafts, and lovely food and drink too.

Belinda couldn't make it but we ended up with five gorgeous purses.

Left to right - Cathy, Annabel, Serena, Bev, Moi

Thanks for a great day Nikki and thankyou Cathy for organising everything for us!
