Mr Mustard and the case of the missing apron

Have you met Mr Mustard?

I was reading all about him last week, and found that his 'Kiss The Cook' apron was in the wash. Every sweet little bear deserves something new for Christmas, so I decided to make him one.

Step 1 - Create the Fabric Design.

With a chocolate brown bear and a name like Mr Mustard, I couldn't resist sticking with the chocolate and mustard colour theme.

A bit of Photoshop and Picnik magic and some inkjet printable fabric and we have a starting point.

Step 2 - Make the Apron

I made myself a little cardboard template and cut out the front panel, and some plain yellow cotton drill for the back panel.

Sew right sides together  with a teeny tiny seam and leave a gap. Trim and nick the curves.

Turn out and topstitch.

Step 3 - Add some straps

This bit was a little tricky, as the apron was soooo tiny, but I managed to find some nice strong ribbon in the stash which works perfectly.

Step 4 - Find A Model and Show it Off

This is Moby.

Moby is a little bit smaller / shorter than Mr Mustard but he was the only willing participant in my house (and he's a bit of a show off).

Mr Mustard's apron is now in the mail and on it's way to Jess's house. I hope it makes it in time for Santa!

I'm Ready...

I spent lastnight sitting on the couch creating this lovely weddingy (not sure if that's actually a word) wire and plastic bead tiara...

Now I'm all frocked up in my op-shopped dress, and ready to go.

Just where did I leave my invitation?

It's the biggest event of the year!

Supermarket Cake, Betty Crocker Frosting, and Hundreds & Thousands

It's my birthday..... and apparently there's some other event happening today which has transfixed the attention of the entire world.

Did someone say Royal Wedding???

Prince Moo Moo (after cake) and Princess CurlyPops

I had a little early birthday celebration on Tuesday while my mum was visiting (not that I actually need an excuse to eat chocolate cake)!

The Royal Subjects

The Royal Subjects were disinterested in the pomp and ceremony of the occassion. They were only there for the cake.

The Royal kiss was thwarted by a rascally Prince Moo Moo.... he was more interested in a second helping of the chocolate cake too.

Let's hope Wills and Kate are more successful tonight!

*The crown partyhats were actually completely unintentional - they just happened to be the only ones in the supermarket on Tuesday!

The 10:1 Ratio

After yesterdays healthy post, today I'm making up for it using Cath's truly scientifically accurate 10:1 ratio rule.

Apparently, for every one healthy thing I eat, I'm allowed to eat ten junky things to make up for it!

So I've emptied out the current contents of my drawer to choose from.... and by my calculations, the consumption of just one banana, now necessitates the consumption of all of this to make up for it!

Wish me luck!

The Loz and Dinny Challenge: Meet SuperPops

Frances is not a very good model for this challenge as she's headless and armless!

You know how I just love a crafty challenge right?

Gemma from Loz and Dinny put out the call a little while back.
The challenge was to take a piece of this very lovely vintage gold fringing and create a 'one of a kind' masterpiece.

I joined up for the challenge very late and was racking my brain trying to work out what I could create. I had the idea for a brooch, but the fringing had other ideas when I tried it out.

I was lamenting the fact that I couldn't think of anything, when someone came to the rescue with a fabulous idea......

Tania
had christened me SuperPops a couple of weeks ago.... and so it stuck

A quick Wonder Woman google search, some sketching, and some measuring.... and I ended up with an outfit.

* I'm probably going to regret posting this photo tomorrow

** I really hope that the neighbours weren't watching me through the window while I was partaking in my photo shoot

*** There were originally plans for boob tassels on the bra thingy but that was taking it a little bit too far - even for me!

**** A huge thankyou to Tania from Myrtle and Eunice for the SuperPops inspiration.

To check out the other players, head on over to Loz and Dinny and check it out!
