The Hottie Challenge - An Update

Hottie by My Poppet

Hotties have already started arriving on my doorstep which is absolutely wonderful!

Don't stress if you haven't signed up just yet, as there's still plenty of time. You have until June 21st to get them back to me in time for the exhibition.

More kits will be arriving this week, so I'll get them out ASAP to anyone who is still waiting.

We had 63 entries in our group submission in 2011, and we're already up to 79 this year which is super exciting! I wonder if we could maybe hit 100?

A Scrappy Ball

A few people had a guess at what I was up to when I posted this photo on Instagram (@curlypops) and used it for Sunday Snippets...

I was lucky enough to be given a copy of Cintia's new My Poppet - Six Baby Gifts to Make with Fabric Scraps e-book.

I had a huge dilemma trying to decide which project to tackle first, but this scrappy ball really tickled my fancy (and there's a completely ingenious tip in the instructions which I can't reveal). Lightbulb moment!

The other thing that tickles my fancy is that I've used all of my own fabric designs, mainly cut from printing swatch samples, or end of print run offcuts.

It really illustrates the difference in how a project can look depending upon the fabric choice.

It's probably appropriate for me to now apologise to any little baby that wants this ball. You're not having it. I'm keeping it!

The details:

There are six projects:
Scrappy Ball
Scrappy Bunny Rattle
Scrappy Chandelier Mobile
Fabric Covered Hangers
Scrappy Bib
Jigsaw Quilt

Everything is really well laid out, easy to read, and well written, and it's available here.

Now I need to decide between the Scrappy Bunny Rattle and the Jigsaw Quilt next...

Featured Hottie Number 14

the hottie challenge by My Poppet

What perfect timing for todays Hottie Feature.

This super gorgeous recycled wool jumper hottie is from the Hottie Queen herself - Cintia from My Poppet.

Cintia's Hottie's are hot sellers online and at lots of lovely handmade retail shops, so I was chuffed when she joined in the challenge.

This one has lots of soft and snuggly felted wool scraps and needle felted puffs...... lovely

Thanks so much Cintia

PS - I'm guest blogging over at My Poppet today (how super exciting) while Miss Cinti is off in Japan shopping and having a lovely time.... wish I was there too!

Animation Friday - Dream Sweetly

make a gif

I'm still completely amazed by my beautiful birthday gift from Cathy..... so just in case you missed the process of  it being painted in various layers over at Tinniegirl, I thought it would make the perfect little slideshow for Animation Friday.

I haven't played along with Animation Friday for ages.... but today over at My Poppet there's a little tutorial on how to make an animated html button.

Now I have a little animated button on my sidebar which links to my shop - how cute!

Thanks Cintia

Animation Friday - The New Do

animated gif maker

It's been such a long time.... and there was sooooo much grey, but I finally had my hair cut this week.

I wanted to take a before photo on the morning of my haircut, but the hairdresser sent me a text message to come early because she'd  had a cancellation.

The before shot was taken three months ago, so my hair was quite a lot longer before the big chop.

I'm quite glad that I ended up getting a photo of it nicely styled and straightened, as shake and go is more my type of style!

Animation Friday - Put On a Happy Face

gif animator

New badges available at the Buninyong Market tomorrow!

I love this song....

Gray skies are gonna clear up,
Put on a happy face;
Brush off the clouds and cheer up,
Put on a happy face.
Take off the gloomy mask of tragedy,
It's not your style;
You'll look so good that you'll be glad
Ya' decide to smile!
Pick out a pleasant outlook,
Stick out that noble chin;
Wipe off that "full of doubt" look,
Slap on a happy grin!
And spread sunshine all over the place,
Just put on a happy face!
Put on a happy face
Put on a happy face
And if you're feeling cross and bitterish
Don't sit and whine
Think of banana split and licorice
And you'll feel fine
I knew a girl so glooming
She'd never laugh or sing
She wouldn't listen to me
Now she's a mean old thing
So spread sunshine all over the place
Just put on a happy face
So, put on a happy face

Animation Friday - Impromptu Shoot

I had a little visitor last week.
This is what happened when I asked him to stand still in front of the wall so that I could take a photo......

Mobile phone photos again - sorry

Following on from last weeks Flowerpot Animation, here's the finished drawing!
I had grand plans of creating a fun and different type of animation this week, but I just ran out of time unfortunately..... so you're stuck with my flowerpot.

Animation Friday - Flower Pot

gif animator

Animation Friday has come around way too quickly this week!

This is a little drawing that I started working on while sitting on the couch watching Tacky House lastnight. The photos are very poor quality as I took them with my phone (couldn't be bothered getting off the couch to find the camera).

My new pens are getting a workout - I've taken my sketchbook nearly everywhere this week. It's a bit difficult in waiting rooms as people like to stare.... a lot, so I might have to go back to taking my knitting with me as well, and decide the craft activity based on the anticipated audience response.

Eye Spy....something I want to try in 2009

Ooooooh this Eye Spy is a little scary today.
I suppose that if I put the information out into the public domain rather than keeping it my head, then it's more of a reality that it's actually going to happen.

Tinniegirl and I spent a little time thisafternoon planning some secret squirrel business that we've been thinking about for a while.

It's not secret squirrel business anymore..... we're going to take the plunge and try selling at our first ever craft market. There......I said it out loud (well, typed it out loud anyway)!

We've made a list of things to do beforehand, discussed what we'll be selling, and then we had a little play around on the kitchen bench with some props and containers to see how it will all look.
I still need to go and check Amy's Market Checklist and Cintia's Market Wisdom too.

Of course, this now means that I really have to stop procrastinating and actually start sewing...aaagggghhhh.

Thanks to Cindy for hosting and to Bek for this weeks theme!
