I'm ready for my close-up

The front
The latest camera bag is finally finished...yippee!

Zippered pocket on the back

I had my carpets steam cleaned yesterday, which led to furniture re-arrangement, and of course, a complete and utter mess. After two solid hours of cleaning up aforementioned mess thismorning, I couldn't take it anymore and I retreated to the sewing machine......

Side view - with adjustable strap and antique brass hardware

.......where I put all of the jigsaw pieces together and sewed them into place.

Adjustable padded inserts

I just have to finish off a little bit of hand stitching on the couch tonight while I watch a DVD, and I can pop it in the post to Michelle.

Then tomorrow, it's back to the dreaded mess!

My Creative Space

My creative space is still all about Michelle's camera bag (it was her birthday yesterday too).

It's on the home stretch now...

There was one final choice to make - antique brass or silver hardware. I've never had such a dilemma over the hardware colour. With most fabrics, it's quite easy to plainly see which one suits better. But, with the linen, the grey and white floral, and the gingham, both colours could have been used.

I'm going to keep you in suspense 'til the end to find out which one Michelle chose!

All of the pieces have been made now, and it's time to fit this jigsaw together.... but first, I'm off to do a little bit of voluntary community service.

I'll catch up on Kirsty's big list once I get back home thisafternoon.

My Creative Space

I've finished off a couple of little projects this week, and the next things in my creative space are just in the planning stages.

First on the list is a custom camera bag for Michelle from Leni and Rose.

Michelle has sent through some lovely fabric, and detailed instructions of what she requires for her camera. So today, I get to play around and draw sketches and work out how to construct it.

While at Sewjourn on the weekend, Liesl was testing Nikki's brand new Beret Pattern. I absolutely adore beret's and after trying it on I was hooked..... so now I have grand plans to whip up my very own too.
There are beret's popping up everywhere it seems!

Don't forget to visit the hostess with the mostest to play along too!

Back in the land of Blog

It feels like I've been gone forever..... but it's only been a couple of weeks

This is what I've been up to!

Every single room in the house is still a work in progress.

The craft space is nearly at a level where I could actually create something... imagine that!

The port-a-cot just needs to be moved to the spare bedroom, and there are a few more bits and pieces yet to find homes, but the whole place is starting to actually look liveable once more.

I am really behind on reading emails and blogs. Getting an internet connection was a real struggle because I don't need or want a home phone. I've ended up with an overpriced pre-paid Telstra wireless plan while I wait for Three wireless to be extended into my area..... but I just can't live without the internet, so there's a price that must be paid.

I might still be a little quiet over the next week or so while I continue to unpack and catch up on all my favourite bloggers.

I did manage to make it to the Stitches and Craft show on Saturday and catch up with Cathy, Nikki, Liz, Fi, Justine, and Jenny, and I finally had the chance to meet Martine and Michelle and Johanna which was lovely. I hope I didn't miss anyone. I wanted to go and say hi to Louise and Cathy from Audrey and Maude but they were surrounded by customers. I also missed Jodie and Michelle who were over in the the other building when I visited... drats.

I have some photos on my mobile phone, but do you think I can actually find the usb cable to download them???

Oh Bernice....

With all of the excitement thats been happening at CurlyPops headquarters (olympics, mixtogether, brown owls, head in a bucket), I forgot that the lovely Bernice had bestowed an award on me last week. I only remembered when I was blogsurfing lastnight and read Sherrins blog.

So now it is my bloggy duty to share the love and bestow this award on some more crafty bloggers.....this is really difficult because there are sooooooo many fantastic blogs (about 170 at last count) that I read religiously.

So these are four of my faves...if you haven't checked them out yet then you definitely should!

Thanks Bernice.

PS. Thanks for all the get well wishes.....they definitely worked!

PPS. Blogger is throwing a spacing wobbly...sorry about that.

The tree of happiness award...

I was bestowed the 'Tree of Happiness' award by Low GI Jen over at August Street last week and I haven't had a chance to sit down and think about it until now.....

I need to list 6 things that I'm happy about right now....thinking....thinking.....anyone have some good thinking music for me?

  1. I have had an overlocker lesson and I'm not scared of it anymore.

  2. I have lots of little crafty wip's and ufo's sitting in various places throughout the house (if you're wondering why that makes me happy, it's because lots of them are new crafts that I've only learned in the last few months....and learning a new craft makes me happy).

  3. I'm drinking a hot milo (anything chocolatey makes me happy).

  4. I have lots of little crafty adventures booked in this month (Mixtogether, Brown Owls, Thornbury Sewing Bonanza).

  5. Vegemite Toast

  6. My nephews
Sorry for taking so long Jen...I hope you'll forgive me!

Now I need to bestow this award on to 6 more deserving bloggers....so I choose Steph, Cathy, Michelle, Hollie, Belinda, and Serena....

On My Desk.....on a Wednesday

On my desk today are a couple of work in progress items......an apron for me (with bias tape trim of course), and some bibs that are a gift for another friend who had a baby boy last week.

Hopefully, I've have these ones finished by the end of tonight (might just be a bit of wishful thinking)!

Moo Moo managed to sneeze on me with a mouth full of Vita Brits thismorning so I have some extra washing to do now as well.

For more lovely desks, head on over and visit Kirsty.

PS. Make sure you check out Michelle's Tips and Tricks #11. I used it lastnight and thismorning and it works a treat! So much faster.

Channelling or Coincidence?

Do you ever have one of those days where a really strange coincidence happens and it's just unexplainable........???

I decided to go through the stash lastnight to pick out some fabric for The Great Pants Challenge. I emailed Sherrin to get a couple of tips on fabric selection because I truly had no idea what I was doing......(thanks for those great tips and photos Sherrin).

I decided on corduroy because I knew that I had some in the stash from a recent shopping expedition..... and because Sherrin showed me how to match up the grain!

I recently joined up for a little pincushion swap with Fi and Michelle.... and in todays mail is this beautiful little pincushion from Michelle. It has my favourite colours, favourite print (floral of course), and corduroy (one of my fave fabrics)! The photo doesn't show it but on the front, the grain of the corduroy is perfectly horizontal, but on the back it's perfectly vertical...fab detail!
Thanks so much Michelle...I love it!

....and now for the freaky bit....this is the corduroy fabric that I pulled out the stash lastnight and left on my kitchen bench for today......

......only to discover that it's only big enough to make half a pair of pants (drats)!

A great big thankyou and some practicing

First of all, I would like to say a great big thankyou to everyone who left me a message regarding my Friday night post......

The fantastic thing is that most generous crafty peeps are already registered as organ donors and those who weren't have now signed up online. Thankyou from the bottom of my heart (and lungs). I've been laughing to myself all weekend imaging what my oxygen bottle would look like with a knitted or crocheted cover.....hilarious!

I've been practicing my knitting over the last week....I used some of the yarn that Cath sent me and I practiced changing colour, leaving the ends loose, knitting the ends in, and using 2 colours at once. It was fun to see what happened without worrying about wrecking something. I even remembered how to cast off and I didn't have to refer to the internet for help.....yippee!

I'm off to the post office now to post three little parcels.....I can't reveal anything yet. Have a happy Monday.

Thanks Elisa!
.
A big thanks to Michelle for the tip on creating a link to a website via clicking on the photo.....I actually got it to work...yippee! Remember to check Michelle's blog each Tuesday for a new tip!

Last Minute Sewing

I suddenly remembered lastnight that I'd promised my sister-in-law that I would make a gift for her to give to a friend who is expecting a little girl later this week.
I quickly whipped up these three bibs in record time.....I probably should have ironed them before taking a photo but they have now left the building so it was too late!

For anyone who wants to start a craft blog or is new to a craft blog, or even if you just want some handy hints, head on over to Pips Blog and Michelles Blog.....
