The Choose Your Own Bag Adventure Sew-Along

Hear Ye, Hear Ye! It's time to sign up to the next sew-along.

I decided to make this one a 'Choose Your Own Adventure' type sew-along as I'm quite particular when it comes to bags. I probably have around twenty, and they all suit me in different ways. I'm a bit like Goldilocks and the Three Bears. I have to choose the right bag to suit the right occasion.

I'm aiming to make at least two bags during the month. I desperately need a new Baguette, and a new Backpack Bag (I'm going to base it on the one in Nikki's You Sew Girl book but just make it larger).

If you're looking for a pattern, I have a whole shop full of gorgeous You Sew Girl Bag Patterns, but you can sign up and make any bag your heart desires!

I used my Illustrator practice (combined with a bit of Photoshop) to make a button. You can right click and save it (it's 200px), or use the code:

Here's the sign up list:

Don't forget to upload photos to the Flickr Group once your bag is finished so that we can all see the beautiful new creations!

It's waaaaay too hot to be doing much at all in Melbourne today, so why not do a little online shopping?

There's still a selection of super gorgeous collaborative iPad Sleeves and Handbags in the Shiny Happy Art Shop.

Have a happy (and hopefully cool) day!

A CurlyPops & Shiny Happy Art Collaboration

I've been busting to show you what I've been working on lately. It's a very exciting collaboration with Anna from Shiny Happy Art.

We've put together a combination of Anna's beautiful artworks and my bag making skills to create these very unique handbags.

We're beginning with this collection of four.

These will be available in the Shiny Happy Art Online Shop from 12PM Midday Sunday (29th January).

For more photos of each bag, just pop on over to the Shiny Happy Art or CurlyPops Facebook pages.

The Evolution of a Granny Bag

It all began with a hand sketched drawing.....

....which became a design way back in November last year.

It was digitally printed as a lovely linen cotton blend fabric sample in December (right here in Australia), and has been longingly fondled and gazed at ever since.

It's finally been transformed into a handbag, just the perfect size for me and all of my bits and bobs.

I'm hoping to be able to share the fabric printing news very shortly, but in the meantime, I have more samples on the way, and I'll hopefully have some granny square fabric available very soon!

The Production Line

I'm trying to whip up a few more handbags this week (amongst other crafty things).

I've realised that when the builder returns next week to install the flooring in my new dining room, he's also going to be ripping up the carpet in my craft space, installing new wooden floors, and installing new wall mounted cabinets for me.

All this is good news..... except for the fact that I have to pack up and move everything out of my craft space, and then bring it all back and pack it all away again. I can't really envisage that there'll be any time at all for pre-market sewing next week, amongst every other activity that goes on in my life.

I'm just really looking forward to it all being finished!

Handbag on the left created using two lovely linen placemats that I received (quite a while ago) from Linda at Two Pink Possums.

Handbag on the right created using the same linen tablecloth from Monday..... and there's still more of it that I can use.
